Effective BS18 ignoring all mods and burst 5 must be one scary thing to face

Yep. I said pretty much the same thing. It's going to become target priority one unfortunately. Have some extra ABH to fill the link back up!

Something to consider as well is the EVO REM. If going second, you can put Marksmanship on the Rui Shi right away instead of spending orders on it later.

Note Edit: you can't put Marksmanship on. Only Overclock, Teampro, Kaleidoscope, or Reboot.

The one thing about the EVO is, what do you do with it other than that? Dahshat suffers from few hackers and not fantastic ones. The EVO allows you to spend Command tokens to Re-roll failed Hacking!

Unfortunately you can only use Command Tokens for GADGET-EVO programs, so Teampro/Kaleidoscope/Overclock/Reboot. Overclock is still a very solid option for an unlinked Rui Shi (since it doesn't stack with fireteam bonuses), and also applies to Lu Duan, Rafiqs, and our AVA 3 Fanous remotes. Lu Duan pretending to be a Kameel or Traktor Mul and suddenly ARO-ing with a B2 Heavy Flamethrower is a nasty surprise.

Beyond that the EVO does have its uses: Kaleidoscope can give our somewhat weak hackers a leg up in infowar, and Valerya can acquire a -9 defensive modifier if paired with a Deflector Tinbot. Active turn supportware like Assisted Fire is always an option, and negating the penalty on Sat-Lock can open up some fun options for the Rafiq. Overall I'd consider the EVO Repeater if going fairly remote-heavy, which is quite possible for Dahshat.

On the topic at hand, the Rui Shi is definitely a monster in a fireteam. But I've spent a lot of time with the bot in Yu Jing and I can tell you from experience that it needs very little help to be a murder machine. Assisted Fire alone allows it to win the vast majority of firefights handily without any fireteam bonuses. It's very tempting to shove a Rui Shi Core or Haris into virtually every list, but don't neglect our fantastic Brawler, Ghulam, or Odalisque options.

Ah yes. Sorry about that. I've only used it with TeamPro. Ikari needs to keep their more fragile fireteams going. But Overclock is still good too.

It can also disguise as a Kum biker too! That can throw people off! I think you could even start the game as 3 Kum Bikers!

Kaleidoscope is great if you know you are going against anything hacker heavy.

You can't effectively exploit the Move 6 if you're dragging around a fireteam, and that is often why my Rui Shi are so powerful...

I think slowing it down is a good trade off for the benefits it gets.

My first game with it, I started with it as a part of the 5-man link and then moved it so far away it was no longer a part of the team. I did this to cover more ground and move more men efficiently. If I had thought about it at the time, I could have reformed the 5-man link around another ABH.

5man link bonuses are much better than the possible loss of 2" move in 3rd/4th order. After you disable enemy's ARO pieces with fully linked Ruishi, You can always let him go solo to get some extra kills although I would prefer to keep him back and save him for 2nd turn. McMurder from a second combat group is perfect to cause mayhem in the opponent's deployment zone after linked Ruishi clears the way for him.
And in Dashat it is super easy to make like 16+ regular orders list with some strong irregulars options like McMurder/Kums/Libertos/Hunzakuts.

I agree that it's objectively better, just questioning whether it's necessary. I can't recall a time my Rui Shi failed to win a face to face roll, but the link team bonus would have saved it.

Only thing I can really think of as brilliant is SSL2 to help with shots from white noise zones

True, although the Rui Shi is weaker in the reactive turn anyway. And, you would know ahead of the game starting whether that was a threat, and could compose a team in response.

Yeah, I mean it helps a bit against combat camo and surprise hacking but theyret situational. B2 in aro is nifty but I'm not sure the 4 other people you're paying for are necessary. It's quite a good solo piece and makes the team members easier to splash with templates on that huge base

I think I'll bring this up here instead of it's own thing, What do you guys think of the Rafiq with Red Fury? At first I thought of it as an alternate for the Rui Shi but it's pretty different.
    • It costs +2pts more but cheaper SWC -1
    • Has many other things it can do: Sensor (Triangulated Fire), Sniffer, Specialist FO, Deactivator, Also a Repeater, Sat-Lock
    • Slightly better range in the -3 area. Up to 40 instead of 32.
    • It's a Repeater too so it can easily be modified by a hacker.
    • Smaller base size
    • -1 BS :frowning:

Rui Shi is also a repeater, but you are forgetting the biggest difference: the Rafiq does not have MSV2.

Oh definitely not forgetting. I just wanted to point out what the Rafiq had.

Sensor is great but not a replacement for seeing through smoke or after Discover.

But Sensor does add a lot to it. It acts just like MSV for the Discover itself, giving a +6 to discover anything in LoS, then modified. It's even better against regular camo. WIP13+6-3=16. MSV simply adjusts the negatives for discovering to 0.

Then there's also Triangulated fire with a Red Fury. It could be at -12 for some reason and using that changes it to -3.

A situational advantage is that it's not effected by White Noise.

Yeah but you're paying orders for that and I'm not sure on maths but I would assume marksmanship software is likely more useful for the active turn

Dashat is actually obscene. Ultra Instinct McMurrough + Core MSV2 Zuyong link with TA and cheaper wildcard members is disgusting. Couple that with 3x Flash Pulse bots and 4x Helper bots means midfield control + rip mine fields. Been having success with this list since it hits like a hammer and gives the two prima donnas of the list, McMurrough and Zuyong link time to shine. List is still in gestation stage and trying to work in either a Zhencha or a ML Zuyong. However very happy with it so far.

Surprisingly, it's the Bashi that ends up killing the most each game. She is the unsung hero - and holoprojector 2 on an AD troop is gross. So much of people's time go into killing McMurrough who I DON'T PLAY AS A SUICIDE PIECE and instead play off the Libertos as a midfield skirmishing safety net. The threat of McMurrough facilitates the threat of Core Link in Group Two which has 7 ORDERS to burn on themselves, while the threat of the Core Link facilitates McMurrough - a very meritorious death circle.

    Dashat - it's good.

Also - on a side note - I'm freaking glad that the 112 is ignored in this army list in favour of the Ghulam Doctor. It's about damn time that the 112 experiences what the Kazak doctor has felt like since forever. Kazak Pride.

    @Tongfa
I pretty much always choose 112 over Ghulam Doctor when playing Dashat - free Nasmat and a spare point is more valuable for me then +4WIP for healing. I believe that engineer is more important in Dashat then Doctor since the main attack piece is a Ruishi.

I also don't get your group breakdown in a list you've posted. Is'nt it always better to maximize the number of orders in a more important and stronger group which in this case is a second group with a power link? If You win initiative, you will get stripped down to 5 orders on a RuiShi link (possible hacker-program tax and you have only 4 orders to some damage; 6 when You decide to use 2 command tokens).

I was playing around with something like this lately:

Strong hitting first group with 12 orders and utility/support group with Dogie/Libertos/Sensor shenanigans. I would also strongly advised to take the 6th body to fill the link after losing one member.
Anyways have fun playing Dashat since your opponents won't be very happy. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
