Surprise attack -3, Template weapon outside LoF -3, Attack from Inside ZoC out of LoF -3, What rule is this referring to as well? What was the last -3 mod that could possibly put a -12 BS mod on an enemy? Breaking them is what I was expecting but depending on what youre shooting at, the enemy might just opt to shoot back at full bonuses to try and kill the Oni. It seems like on the Oni, he might be alright by presenting many negative mods, but other shotgun platforms will definitely be less fortunate. Only concerned now about a 10 point chump rolling two 13s against a mono crit.
For enemy to BS Attack your Oniwaban, he has to have LoF to Oniwaban, so -3 from outside LoF do not apply. You are forgetting that Oniwabans are TO Camo models (Mimetism (-6) in N4 terms). So that plus Surprise Attack is -9 already. Also you could be in cover for additional -3 for your Oni. I might be missing something else, of course.
-12 BS MOD = Ballistic Skill MODs. Not Dodge MODs. -3 for Surprise Attack 'from marker state' -6 for Mimetism (-6) because it's an Oniwaban -3 for 'from cover'
Fellas, thanks, I don't know why I didn't think that's what you meant, maybe cause I don't know everything from C1 yet, and I also clearly glanced over what you said previously, IJW. Well, for most troops in the game, taking a -12 while being hit with 2 DTWs is going to be a bad day, even a -9 if you have to approach from out of cover. All sounds great, now just have to see how other troops fair. Say Karakuri HSG in a link for instance... Brutal!
a point nobody has discussed so far is how the changed crit mechanic will effect CC. I've only run into CC a few times using the new crit rules, but so far Shinobu has failed to kill a Knight of Justice AND a lowly Fusilier as my opponent has decided to stubbornly pass armor saves when I land crits. It seems to me that unless you're going up against some real hard targets or we see some profile tweaks Saito is going to be the go to choice for your ~40point CC specialist
Remember that in Code One and probably n4 martial arts lv5 gives also +1 burst, so Shinobu has a chance for landing 2 crits or a hit and a crit. More chances for them to fail that save.
I'm actually hoping for this is just an oversight when looking at C1 and that CB didnt fuck over the JSA mono ccw troops. Since C1 already shows us that that Mono is still Dmg 12 and only 1 extra save for a crit. We have to hope those who only had a mono ccw before have a secondary ccw based on ph so damage can be increased with the use of martial arts.
Keep in mind we don't know what stats Shinobu will have. Presumably still MA5, but there may be additional changes. A Shinobu crit is 16% likely to fail compared to 0% likely to fail previously. Against a KoJ, the presumed Shinobu will have just under 33% of their damaging hits as crits. This should mean that the over-all deadliness of Shinobu compared to the Dice Roller's result (using N4 MA5) is about 5% lower, so 60% goes down to about 56%. There will probably be errors in that and they do not assume Surprise Attack (which is probably going to be worse in N4 for Shinobu). This is to be compared to the N3 incarnation of the rules where Shinobu has 52% chance of killing KoJ (it's very practical that KoJ has almost the same stats as Joan v1). Note that using N4 crit mechanics and N3 Martial Arts will leave Shinobu quite worse off. It does, so some manual counting is required, as above
Looking at Saito, he has only one attack but that dmg 16 EXP is sweet. Hard to compare now without knowing other changes, i hope he comes back to regular use cos new LE mini is fantastic.
I wish I knew the math you're referencing but I'll take your word for it. Luckily, MA looks to be stackable so two dice at +3 for her and -3 for the opponent will be nice. I hope you're right about those percentages and the KoJ player just got lucky, cause JSA is know for it's CC, shit needs to stay the same.
Bear in mind that Surprise Attack works with Direct Template Weapons in C1/N4. If you Attack from Cover, you’re putting everyone under the target of -12 BS before range MODs (-3 for cover, Mimetism -6, and -3 for Surprise Attack).
This is excellent but still, strait PH roll is the bigger hit. Luckily people are taking less and heavier targets so walking a camo marker 12 inches should still be alright and not face too many AROs.
I think they mean the nerf to Superior Infiltration (-3 for pushing over the halfway line, +3 for Infiltration +3)
