I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I've been repainting ninjas and support troops all day, because of this pack i guess i'll need to buy another support set for my imperial service XD, now all jsa needs is a keisotu box for some cheap orders and special weapons and new o-yoroi and they are set.
New OYoroi is in the ITS Event Pack, it's the same body but with new arms (the pose reminds me of the old Kempeitai with the sword swung back and the gun up).
I've been complaining a lot elsewhere about the fate of Yu Jing but I should probably make the point somewhere that I think these are really nice models.
I wish money wasn't so tight right now, because I'd otherwise be super down to buying six models of mine again (most the box). I think I'll make do with my old models. I'd say it definitely outdoes the USAriadna pack in terms of style, but I might grant more "substance" points for USA.
One month before this dropped, a package arrived in the mail with a box of haramaki, raidens, both aragoto boxes and the old starter set. Pretty much everything that Carlos didn’t recommend picking up. I’ve been looking at branching out from my nomads for a couple of months, turns out I pulled the trigger on that idea two months early. So I guess I’ll have a lot of opportunity to get the color scheme down.
I have quite the dilemma, JSA was my first army so their paint isn't up to the my current standard. Do I really want to re-paint most of my models to match the new box? I guess it really isn't thaaaaaat much, considering i'll probably not be using most of my old keisotsu. Jeez, too many models and not enough time.
I hope (and think) that this is just a way of moving some old stock in time for a proper resculpt. That old gangly thing is in dire need of an update. Also the minis in the army pack look great and seem like fun pieces on the table!
I starres building JSA half a year ago. I painted them but never did a match. I got the old Starter. Karakuri Projekt, Kitsune, Haramaki, Domaru ... And I preorderd The nee Pack... It looks to awesome. Since I just played Vanilla Aleph Up to now. So you have any advice for building a list and testing out cambat groups?
JSA plays 10 orders very well, but it plays 15 orders just as well, honestly -- maybe even moreso now that we have some decent one-off pieces, a lot of stuff got cheaper, and our cheapest link has more firepower (Spitfire and MSV2 Kempeitai). There's not too much you can do now though, it seems like a ton has changed and there aren't profiles for everything. We know Haramaki are getting a rework, there's a JSA version of the Rui Shi, we've heard there will be specialist Domaru, and we know the OYoroi is getting an AP HMG option.
It should. I'm not seeing much that is really new&different aside from link flexibility. Unit 9 are Raiden, Tanko are Haramaki.
I haven't played them yet, but I think you underestimate Unit 9 there a bit, they are not only Raiden, but also cheap midfield minelayers and attack/defense pieces, which the Raidens were not. Can't say anything about the Tankos yet as I only saw the picture of their art, but they seem to be very cheap...maybe just Haramaki replacement as you said, but then why even bother with the rebrand? Maybe better as well... But yeah, the main kicker I think will be the Fireteam Versatility, I mean hell, with Miyamoto in a Fireteam, I might actually field him a decent amount of time!
You're spot on with the Unit 9 profiles. I've seen them in a couple of games already and whilst the Raiden equivalent is the same, the midfield ODD profiles are insanely cool. Not overpowered, but definitely very strong and very useful. It's a lot more versatile than the Raiden ever was.
Yeah, that is a good point. I obviously need to actually play them, but from a quick look at what had been spoiled, there didn't seem to be much really new aside from the better linking options. As I understand the rebrand, it's primarily a fluff reason, kinda like Unit 9. The old Haramaki regiment sacrificed themselves in the Secession, and the major factory making their armor didn't come with the Japanese (which was apparently a different maker than the Domaru).
