Based on an N3 estimate I'd peg an SMG ninja at 29 pts +/- 1pt without being a specialist, depending on its CCW. Would you pay 5 points more than a Ryuken 9 for a midfield SMG? with AVA3 Ryuken, do we need another midfield SMG? I'll admit, the temptation to take 8 forward deploying SMG's with visual mods and just dump them into suppression fire, overwhelming my opponent with negative modifiers on the first turn does creep up every now and then, but I have to think that an army of nothing but SMG's and katanas is going to get outshot frequently.

So happy JSA is finally getting new ninjas! Hope we don’t lose sniper as it is a bit iconic. Question is is smg going to be as good as it is now in N4?

As far as I remember bostria explicitly said in the adepticonvideo that the ninja is something for JSA.

It lost Shock in C1 -- it could be because it still has Shock but Shock doesn't exist in C1, but it could also be that the SMG is losing Shock altogether? Alternatively they may have made it cost more, which wouldn't be visible in most C1 profiles.

There are no knives in C1, no Shock CCW, no Red Fury profiles, all MULTI weapons lost the Shock ammo mode etcetc. I think it's safe to asume Shock just isn't a C1 thing. What that means for SMG is unknown, though I have a feeling we'll see it return to all MULTI weapons and the SMG (and the MULTI Sniper will likely also get Shock considering it has B1 on DA - I'm just wondering if and when the Haqq and Ariadna forums will realize that probably means significant changes to Viral and T2)

I like some of the thoughts here. Personally, I’d much rather see an ability increase than a points decrease.

I’d like ninjas to be master skirmishers, but I find they often turn into gut-wrenchingly expensive trading pieces when playing against mines and warbands. Hyperdynamics would be great, as would smoke.

Also, I really hope we keep a sniper ninja in JSA.

In five years of playing - mostly JSA - I don't think I've been able to successfully use the ninja MSR so I'm not sure I'd be sad to see it gone (though I do love the old model).

I agree with grampy for the most part - my ninjas show up, eat about half a dozen orders to either die in their first exchange or to push a button and then hide with a supply box... I'd really like to see climbing plus on ninjas at the cost of a point or two as I think it fits media portrayals of ninja assassins and would give them something most other midfield skirmishers lack in mobility.

I've always thought fluff-wise, smoke, climbing plus, and hyperdynamics would make a lot of sense for cyber-ninjas - but those are mostly wishful thinking.

Being realistic, I'd be happy as long as there's a relatively lean SMG-specialist profile in N4.
