Yeah, point at target, kill target. Simple to use.
If it is some big target like a TAG, you may spend several rounds fishing for crits or just leave the Igao engaged there and let your oponent waste Orders trying to deal with the Igao without killing it's own TAG in the process.

Igao kills most of the stuff quite fast:

    Face to Face Roll
Igao Unit - DA CCW vs. Cutters - Bare-Handed
    Active Player
52.67% Igao Unit inflicts 1 or more wounds on Cutters (2 STR)
10.58% Igao Unit inflicts 2 or more wounds on Cutters (1 STR)

    Failures
    37.08% Neither player succeeds
    Reactive Player
10.25% Cutters inflicts 1 or more wounds on Igao Unit (Unconscious)

And thats not counting the surprise attack turn.

Not speaking that if you get proper postion for shooting then vs nonmodificator TAGS you are quite effective aswell

With release of full rules: I am legit excited about this troop. Dazers are a game changer. A specialist that can do objectives and also make it harder for your opponent to just reach those objectives? Awesome. Difficult terrain in this game is nuts. Did you know when you super jump, that if you enter the edge of a difficult terrain are the terrain stops your jump? Whats fun with this is that you can combine it with nimbus plus to effectively make your own forests. Im saying tohaa are clearly space druids, what with non metallic armor, animal companions, and magical spells that dont affect robots.

I'm very happy with them, excited to field them and probably will most games, the combo of Tri core msv2 viral sniper and stratocloud is disgusting.

Do people seem themselves running it in a triad? My feeling was Draal might be better soloists that show up to reinforce otherwise weakened triads.

I will definitely try a triad, but I do think filling triads later in the game will be more likely, assuming they are still around.

My plan is to have it take the place of the sukeul Lt. in my list, and to be in a triad with two makauls. Have it deployed aggressively, and drop off dazers as i cross the field. I do also like the idea of it being a soloist to replace missing triad members. The unit seems so flexible on paper, really am stoked to have a new unit to mess around with.

Draal with a Gao Rael Spitfire should make a good attack piece

Something of note here: stratuscloud is disposable (1), so could the ever lovely chaksa baggage can spend an order reloading it? the state says you cannot activate it again, but the equipment doesn't have that restriction. if you can reactivate it after being reloaded you could start in stratocloud, and spend an order reloading, and then send the draal off to do whatever.

Cripes, that seems a big deal given the price point.

i know right? i asked about this in the rules forum. its weird cause albedo is basically the same equipment, but it isn't disposable.

So having played with some numbers, against a tr bot the strato cloud is marginally worse than odd.
Against a linked fusilier it is significantly better than odd.
Just dont shoot at a Kamau with it.

I just want to make sure I have my head wrapped around this Stratuscloud thing.

    • The field is a circle template centered on the Draal who turned it on.
    • The field does not effect the Draal or any other unit that has this state going. Since Draal are the only units with access to this state they are also the only ones immune to the Stratuscloud.
    • The Stratuscloud is Low Visibility and gives any unit without the Stratuscloud state or MSV a -3 to shoot through.
    • The Stratuscloud is saturation and will be a -1 to burst (to a minimum of 1) for anyone withtout the Stratuscloud state.
This means that if I am running a Triad with a Draal and a Gao-Rael, the Gao-Rael wouldn't suffer from the Low Visibility, but would suffer from the Saturation.

If I am running a Triad with a Draal and any other unit without MSV that unit would suffer all the effects of the Stratuscloud.

    Does that sound about right?

    Seems right.

The Cloud is also single use and lasts until the end of the following player's turn, like Albedo but you can choose to delay it's activation.

I think its helpful to imagine the stratus cloud like a biohacking area.

I've been and will continue to run a Draal + two makauls as an aggressive assault triad. I had to cut a Chaksa HFT to fit the upgrade from a Sakiel paramedic, but so far it's been worth it.

A Gao-Rael inside a Stratuscloud is now our best F2F roll against a Kamau sniper. It's pretty clutch.

Relevant for people worried about the Draal in inactive symbiont state:
    https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/draal-stratuscloud.27780/#post-231165

Thanks Colbrook for the quick response on that one. In short, if you go inactive before you declare Stratuscloud, you'll have lost it for good, but if you begin the game in Stratuscloud you're not too worried about losing your symbiont (except for the BS, ARM, BTS, and MOV lost... but still!)

The calculator has been working overtime to try and help me get my head round when the new options are at their best. Assuming the Gao rael and Kamau are linked. Annoyingly I left the sniper in ap mode through all of this so the odds are wrong but are consistently wrong.

The Gao rael spitfire in a cloud works out around 48% to wound the Kamau and 20% to take a wound in return. Without the cloud its around 38% to 31%.
Amusingly a Greif operator just walking into 8' with a combi puts the odds at 40% to 21% (these are a bit off as I forgot to work out Armour)

But an option in Vanilla appears to be to rush a Draal smg to within 8 who unlinked is at 45% to %13 or if you manage to do it in a link is 54% to 11%

To be honest though I think the right call when facing something quite so nasty as this is to break the link trust in your symbiomate and co-ordinate against it.

You're absolutely right. I should have caveated my statement with 'assuming no range advantage to either side', which is an assumption I made when I was running my own numbers mostly because both players will always be jockeying for that advantage and while tohaa can establish it semi-reliably thanks to eclipse, I didn't want to bank on it given Helots and Jammers, etc, and the general assumption that the Kamau player will be trying as hard to keep you at arm's length as you will be to get them into a knife fight. So I mostly confined my number-crunching to models that could fairly reliably be expected to engage the kamau inside a single order.

For interest, does that face to face at 8" have the Kamau using the pistol or sniper rifle?
