Thank you. Not sure the second half of that sentence was meant as a compliment or not :D Here are "Fiddler's" two "Jackbots". I don't have a lot of use for Nasmats in RTF, and I already have Gaspar, so this is what these will be. As for references: Since Fiddler is based on Merrin, I based one of the bots on BD-1 and the other on R2-D2. Nasmat/Jackbots as R2-D2 and BD-1
The color scheme or the idea to use them as Jackbots? :D Anyway, here's the last mini from the Support Pack. Inspiration were the Death Star engineers. I only added the red visor to make him a little bit more interesting. Najjarun as Death Star Engineer I don't really need a Najjarun in my RTF either (since I'm not running a Maggie... yet). So he will probably proxy as a Monstrucker or Beasthunter. Or as a fifth Djanbazan in that one QK list I'm planning to play one day.
Hearing that some armies might either have to wait before they are playable in N5 or vanish altogether, I decided to paint up some stuff before it becomes unplayable in the near future. One of those projects is that one Qapu Khalqi and one StarCo list I wanted to try out, and for both I needed an Al'Hawwa. Luckily, a friend of mine sold me his old one so I didn't have to buy the whole new Reinforcements box for just one model. Apart from the fact that the old hacker is simply the cooler model. For reasons I will explain elsewhere, I painted him up in the original studio scheme. Had a lot of fun with that digital camo:
Not my favorite model but I enjoyed painting it anyway. Beside, no character handling explosives can be uncool. So... Nice job as usual.
Thank you @Koin-Koin :) ...especially when they don't look at it and just walk away... Anyway, here's another Qapu Khalqi update Having (almost) finished my Starco project, I'm trying to wrap up another "single list army" I want to try. Before we found out last week that QK would actually stay in N5, I was afraid I was losing the chance to play the one cool thing they do: Double Azra'il. Some of the coolest models CB ever produced, and absolute beasts on the table (once they hit something). Having managed to snatch the HMG in the TAG Raid deal and the Feuerbach through a friend, I am now hoping that playing two Harises with two Azra'il will still be possible in N5. And since I also painted up four Djanbazan last year, I'm actually planning on playing them in a 400point list so I can put everyone on the table at the same time: #Qapu Khalqi (400pts) ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 9 1 1 FIRETEAM HARIS AZRA'IL Feuerbach(+1B) / Heavy Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 44) BURKUT Submachine Gun, Light Rocket Launcher(+1 Dam), D-Charges / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0.5 | 31) ROUHANI Submachine Gun, Flash Pulse / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 21) FIRETEAM CORE DJANBAZAN Heavy Machine Gun / Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 34) DJANBAZAN (BS Attack [Shock]) AP Sniper Rifle / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0.5 | 31) DJANBAZAN (Hacker, Hacking Device) Rifle, Light Shotgun ( ) / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0.5 | 30) DJANBAZAN (Doctor [+3]) Rifle, Light Shotgun ( | MediKit) / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 29) HAFZA (Lieutenant) Rifle, Light Shotgun / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 15) AL'HAWWA (Hacker, Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun, D-Charges ( ) / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0.5 | 26) YUAN YUAN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CC Weapon. (0 | 8) GROUP 2 4 1 1 FIRETEAM HARIS AZRA'IL AP Heavy Machine Gun / Heavy Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 40) ODALISQUE Spitfire, Nanopulser(+1B) / MULTI Pistol, PARA CC Weapon. (1 | 31) SEKBAN (Doctor [+3]) Boarding Shotgun ( | MediKit) / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 28) AL'HAWWA (Hacker, Killer Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun, D-Charges ( ) / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 24) YUAN YUAN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CC Weapon. (0 | 8) 7.5 SWC | 400 Points Open in Infinity Army Is that a good list? No. But is it a fun list? I sure hope so :) Anyway, here's the first of the two chunky bois: Part of the reason these didn't get finished with the rest of my Haqqislam last year was that I couldn't decide on how I wanted to paint them. I had already airbrushed them in the same red as my Al Fasid, but I didn't want to repeat the "Sith Trooper armor" scheme that I had done on him. For one, they're different units, but also, the Azra'il's more compartmentalized armor doesn't really lend itself to big, reflective surfaces. In the end, I let myself be inspired by the studio scheme, which includes quite a bit of weathering, and decided to make the Azra'il the Fasid's busted up cousin: Spoiler: More Azra'il goodness
Thanks to both of you! Here's the second one: Even though I knew the Feuerbach would go faster because of the more closed pose and lack of the giant ammo belt and case, I wasn't prepared for how fast it would go. Took me barely four hours to go from the airbrushing step to the finished model.
Thanks! Today, I'm proud to share the last mini of my 2023 backlog. Call it OCD, call it mild autism, I like keeping track of every detail of my hobby in an ever-expanding spreadsheet – which tells me I bought 93 minis in 2023, so I'm happy to say they are now all finally painted :) Here he is, the Hassassin Ayyar, converted and painted to look like Darth Nihilus from Knights of the Old Republic: When I bought him, I originally got him as a Janissary proxy. But then I found an actual Janissary model that I liked, which left this guy without a purpose. For now, I will use him as a Burtuk proxy for my QK, but I in fact love him so freaking much I might just find an excuse to field him in any of my Haqqislam lists. Makes a good Namurr as well I guess? Such a sweet model...
Excellent, OSLs of this type are so intimidating, personally I'm always a little afraid on the rare occasions when I do one of destroying the previous work.
It's definitely a skill to master. I learned a lot from elminiaturista. I recommend checking out his patreon if you want to get better at the technique :) Thanks! The Ayyar just lends himself perfectly to the reference – the mask is almost the same, and he looks super Sith-like anyway. Alright, let's get to the Last QK mini for now I managed to play my QK list last Saturday! It was great: My HMG Azra'il deleted a Bultrak in one order, my Feuerbach Azra'il deleted a Sogarat in one order, and my Djanbazan core made a total of four Regeneration rolls and killed a Suryat HRL (with the Sniper, twice!), a Suryat HMG (which was also my opponent's Lieutenant), and two Kaitok. Unfortunetaly, I was so preoccupied with shooting stuff that I kinda neglected the mission, which meant I lost 8-2 (we played the BAMS mission "Chemical Leak" – great mission, @WiseKensai!). But who cares? My models got to be in a lot of awesome firefights and killed a bunch of Morats :) Unfortunately, that wasn't true for this humble lady below, who made a brave suicide run at the wounded Suryat Lt. And while she almost managed to blast him unconscious with her chain rifle, the Suryat managed to make his saves, while she didn't... Still, I'm super happy I was able to paint her up before the game. The sculpt is gorgeous, and she marks the last model from my Haqqislam backlog, meaning I'm done with Haqqislam until the end of the year! Don't worry though – I'm very much looking forward to playing QK in N5 and will definitely add a few more models next year :) For those wondering about the Star Wars reference I used – she's supposed to be Enfys Nest from the Solo movie ;)
Having to write so many missions each month for Edgelord means not all of them are winners, but I think Chemical Leak is actually one of the good ones... Really glad you enjoyed Chemical Leak. :)
