Er... can anyone find me a nomination category for this little gem? It’s doubly amusing because the author doesnt bother to quote whatever post he was replying to - all we later readers get is this bizarre treatise, and all apparently with no sense or concern that the post will be here for years.
Ah, yeah, that one. "Most hilariously sig-able"? even though I'm one of the folks being tagged there.
Update: 3rd January 2019 There are some good nominations here so far, but surely there's more good stuff to come, so let's keep the nominations open for a while yet. Anything that was memorably funny, outrageous, absurd or even hostile and offensive is fair game, so don't stop finding the crazy stuff, but - since I'm offering a box of mini's as the prize here, my personal hope was that the winning nomination would be genuinely worthy, and a useful contribution to the community at large, I think recent (and therefore ineligible) post about Tohaa troop profiles, by @Ben Kenobi is good because it's a succinct summary that's of value to any but the most experienced Tohaa players (kudos, Ben ). And it's useful whether they're reading it today, next month, next year or even maybe further down the line when profiles change. What else like that can find from last year? [edits to clarify that the nominations should be from 2018]
I'd really like to split the 2018 and 2019 posts. Dang it, I had a post I was going to nominate and I lost it...
Nomination: Least Suitably Contextualised Mention of Cock & Bum Fun 2018 by @the huanglong In a forum where members and even Corvus Belli's associates often reply to one another's posts without providing any link, reference or other context, this one stands out as hilariously blithe.
I've corrected my previous post to clarify that I'd meant Ben Kenobi's Tohaa post was an example of good writing; not that we should include 2019 posts too. We could certainly open the award up to posts made in late 2017 when the forum was opened to the general public, though?
Ah, OK, I follow you. Thought you wanted to expand the eligibility. I'm halfway tempted to include Bostria's "because they have white faceplates" post for "least useful trollpost"...
@Section9 While Bostria is a dev, there's plenty of worse offenders. Not sure that the particular stones of poor conduct should be turned or that hanging people out to dry is a good thing to nominate people for. I'd rather nominate Koni's post on the Mowang and Koni in general as "2018 Bearer of Best News" (edit: grammar)
This exchange and question was posted in another thread (see links in the quotes) Good point, and to further clarify the format: a) these posts are ineligible for Best of 2017/2018 but could be nominated in advance for Forum Post of the Year 2019. Admittedly, this does assume that the forum hasn't become a sort of post-nuclear wasteland by then, replete with a Denzel Wshington character ensuring the continuation of the game by carrying around a braille copy of the original Infinity rulebook, but anyway. And b) yes, how to nominate the post(s) also depends on how you feel the comedy works. Myself, I'd be inclined to nominate both posts and both members @oldGregg and @Section9.
@Pierzasty @Section9 @Mahtamori @oldGregg will you guys quit teasing us all and make the darn nominations?
By no means; nominate away. And if I wrote something that gave that impression, please link it to me, and I'll correct it.
Does anyone remember that good thread by someone who wanted to house rule for dice rolls; it might'v been about 9 months ago? It was a really smart thread about the stuff with dice we all always encounter, and yet pretty much always fail to manage intelligently. What to do when a dice rolls off the table, or one dice strikes another, and the players hadn't called the original roll, etc. etc.
Any of these here should qualify for the "best of" categories. Also, "you guys just don't get how the asians do genocide" by psycoticstorm.
Nomination: Most Useful Guide to Infinty Lore by @Nemo No Name The questions are genuinely interesting, and the answers well-written and worthwhile; putting the Q & A into forum spoilers makes the whole thing engaging and immediately accessible. (There must be plenty suchlike posts in other faction forums that I dont myself read; any nominations?)
Thanks, much appreciated :) I do need to clean up the wording a bit, there's some horrendous crap in there. XD
For a truly authoritative post, it’d be great to see quoutations and sources for your answers (even if they’re only general references like which book theyre found in), but Im not complaining - it’s a really solid post, and better than other related threads Ive found since. My question to you is, can you play the bigger man and demonstrate some largesse by finding and nominating a post you think better than your own?
