3-man fireteam fires a targetless non-speculative fire pitcher (or a smoke grenade) into a saturation zone. Is the BS roll made with one or two dice?
One as the BS Attack has it's burst reduced by one due to the Saturation Zone. Targetless means you can target a spot on the ground instead of an enemy, but it doesn't mean there's literally no target. Edit: In your Active turn you can target two separate spots at burst one each, effectively getting around the Saturation Zone.
Yes, but are pitcher and smoke grenade “BS Attacks”? There is are multiple threads about Special Dodge not being an attack. Pitcher says that you can place a Repeater by passing a BS roll. Perhaps these are “BS attacks”. For example, you can deploy two mines in a saturation zone, because they aren’t BS attacks. From a fluff point of view, I can see how that only small objects like bullets are affected by the saturation zone.
They are still BS Weapons that use the BS Attack skill, yes. Edit: Grenades have the Throwing Weapon Trait, but are still essentially BS Weapons.
The +1 burst rule requires they be BS weapons. Boy have I been doing this wrong. Who knew that mines were "BS weapons".
Yeah, I missed that, Fireteam bonuses don't let you deploy extra mines, Though you do get a +1 Burst for Drop Bears or Mine Launchers being used as a BS Weapon, those would also be affected by a Saturation Zone.
What if the attacker splits his burst by targeting two different spots (0,000001mm apart to be exact) on the ground?
In the Active turn, that's fine (though for Pitchers I'd advise choosing targets at least 25mm apart so both have space to be placed) In the Reactive turn that's not possible as you must target the same spot with your full burst.
Is that mandatory? Also the placement rules for Pitcher repeaters aren’t precisely written. For example, does the pitched repeater token need be centered on the target spot?
Targeting the same spot in ARO? Yes, everything that lets you increase the burst of a BS Attack also includes language forbidding you from splitting the burst. This has been discussed https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/link-team-burst-bonus-and-placement.26005/page-3 I tend to agree with IJW's position that it's deployed centred on the target as it's the most consistent with the rest of the ruleset.
This page: http://wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/Types_of_Weapons If it performs a BS Attack and is a Weapon then it's a BS Weapon. This means that Drop Bears, Pitchers and Mine Dispensers et al are all "BS Weapons" for the purposes of Fireteam Burst bonuses.
