Nomination: 9 + 4 + Scatter Formula for Infinity Table Scenery by @Section9 A straightforward and easily understood guide to one of the most important, but often tricky aspects of an Infinity game - the scenery.
Nomination: Special Timing for Order Sequence in Combat Jump by @inane.imp A fairly simple question but the answer is direct, concise, courteous, with a link to the original authoritative post from the old forum and all provided within 15 minutes of the Original Post. This is how to answer forum questions.
Well, Slavery is an ugly word, but if you've seen that old episode of Murphy Brown ( not the terrible re-boot) with Wallace Shawn, you know that, " welfare is an even uglier one". (Ah, season 7, episode 13, "The Best and Not-So-Brightest ") I am entirely opposed to slavery. In case there was any confusion.
Thank you. Yes ... that's ... a quite remarkable post. Spoiler: A Quite Remarkable Post Ok <he said taking a moment to catch his breath> I have two things to say here. 1) I'm not about to provide an apologetic for someone's else's ill-advised posts, but anyone trying to suggest that @wuji is advocating slavery (ie. human chattel enslavement, such as of African people in USA in the 18th & 19th Centuries) is being pretty darn lazy. On the other hand, however 2) In more than 25 years of participation in internet forums, I have never, ever read a more reckless series of posts. 2a) Ever. So no argument that this is indeed a worthy contender for Forum Post of the Year 2018. Well remembered @MikeTheScrivener and well-found by @Solodice. The only question is for which category it should be nominated: Least Sensible? Best Trigger Fodder? Most Likely To Instantly Derail the Thread? Disclaimer: I am entirely opposed to human chattel enslavement.
Nomination: Most Reckless Post of the Year by @wuji Regardless of OP's ethics here, no words can describe the insanity of trying to make highly nuanced, semantic points (about what 'slavery' might actually mean) in a forum peopled by intelligent, imaginative, and let's face it highly-strung tabletop gamers, commonly engaged in competitive virtue signalling. This post already stands head and shoulders above other nominations. [nomination category is subject to change]
[Note that the idea of this thread is admittedly challenged by people not being able to remember what was said, by whom, or where, so discussion of outstanding posts and where they might be found is very welcome here. Remember too that this is a good opportunity to say something kind about your usual sparring partners - we can run the nominations farther into January if need be. ]
I couldn't find that one, but I did find this Spoiler: Let's not keep you from your Ku Klux Klan meeting Thanks for the reference.
Nomination: Best use of Fluff by a Faction by theGricks. The Haqq forum as a whole tends to be a bit more relaxed and polite than other factions, but this is something else. Something creative, beautiful, and most of all delicious.
A brilliant nomination. Truly, the new Islam is the most enlightened of all faiths! How do I start playing that faction again?
Well okay, but I'm seriously thinking it should also be nominated as Most Aggressive Virtue Signalling of the Year ...
