I‘d argue that an edition change would be warranted when the point cost formula is to be changed. E.g. recosting NWI, recosting MI rather than giving all of them a skill for free,... However, thats a really huge task and I don’t see CB wanting to do that any time soon.
I would argue one of the biggest things is bringing camo rule with its marker state in line with the rest of the ruleset. Or cost it appropriately. Also fix or remove MSV3.
A kill team version (4-5 models) of INFINITY that can is played with Aristeia style cards and the special icons dice would be AWESOME !
It says: "A new way of playing Infinity". that means we'd still be playing Infinity and not a 15mm Dropzone Commander Style game. A new edition of the game would also not be a new way. So I guess this announcement could mean a smaller change such as a new campaign system. A system using the current rules but with even fewer models would also be possible, but I don't see how that fits into the business interests of CB. Infinity still has a low entry cost for a miniatures wargame. CB does not need to lower that like GW has to with Kill Team. I would love to see a version 3.5 with more streamlining and getting rid of clutter and superfluous rules. As much as I would be interested in a dropzone commander or spaceship battle type game, I don't think that CB has the capacity for that and neither do I.
"the black N represents another way to play Infinity"...could this be existing rules applied to a new fantasy story/setting? Hacking/Equipment based skills (TO Camo) = Magic BTS = Magical resistance Sectorials = Races etc etc... I'm looking at you: Just a thought
With all the fantasy skins for Aristeia being probably a test ground I'm pretty convinced it's gonna be a fantasy game
Could be a fantasy game, and there was mention of such in 2016. However, I think and fantasy game would need more than a few tweaks to the rules. The current ARO system really makes the most sense in a shooting game. While it's true that there would also be shooting in a fantasy game, I would expect the emphasis to be on close combat.
I really hope it’s just a campaign system. I’m not willing to buy in to a whole new game from Corvus Belli. Love infinity, not a fan of Aristeia! If they limit the buy in for a change to something like a book or a deck of cards, then I’d be willing to give it a shot. Definitely not willing to buy a whole new set of models. I just finished collecting Haqqislam and Druze.
I’m liking all this speculation, but can anyone clarify: do Corvus Bellii refer to their other games Aristeia and the RPG as ‘playing Infinity’? Domwe inow if they feel that games within their Human Sphere are ‘Infinity games’?
I think everyone is missing the obvious new way to play infinity. Motorcycle Racing Game! Don’t worry, they have most of 2019 to get every faction a motorcycle profile!
You might be saying this with a grin, but it was noted that the CB Directors took an uncommon intetest in the (fan made) Drone Racing game...
New way to play will be Infinity the Game, only without the magic spells hacking. The way Infinity ought to be. #Nomadsdieinahole Oh yeah, there will Exrah in it too. It will be the campaign system, new and improved, along with the SpecOps. And more Motocycles. Some Tricycles too. Rumor is that the MotoMontessa is on a tricycle. Riding a two wheeler requires a higher WIP than most Pan-O units have. It's 3 wheels for you Angus! At least the Montessa's trike will be cool. Spoiler
Yes, I'd generally agree with that, though with Army as the official source for points, it could just be done to army. Yes, I know that this would then require a lot of faction-rebalancing if it was done correctly.
