So we've seen the new design for the Zeta, [and I wasn't sure what to post it in so I just made a new thread.] So lets hear some thoughts on it. My own are - I think the overall chassis design is fantastic. I'm super in love with it. It really gives me a Armored Core feel - Head did seem a tiny bit too small on a few of the angles. - With the Blue Gold paint scheme coupled with the way his gun looks on him it gives me way to strong a Cygnar Warjack vibe - That gun.... the design of the gun itself is great, but mounted over top of his wrist it looks ridiculous. This the weakest aspect of the unit. I would have way more preferred it to have been a carried weapon giving him a reason to having to hands. [also why does he have a control stick in his hand] Or having the entire forearm cannon mount for the gun.
Photos for reference for those who haven’t seen it. The perspective of the render is looking up and thus the head looks too small. The art I think shows it better. I’m super pumped for the Zeta, it looks great!
The joystick needs to go before production. The tag is remote presence. Why would a remote tag need to remotely control a gun on its own wrist 100 years into the future. Also the gun looks weightless in this pose.
My only real complaint besides the joystick is that the chest carapace loses a tonne of detail present in the artwork.
I'm not a fan of the blue and gold scheme. It's too cartoony. In a "so cheesy it made me constipated" 80s cartoon way. I have an O-12 action pack that I'm painting up as the "bent-as-f*ck" Czech state police from Deus Ex:Mankind divided. Blue/black/grey instead. It's not a force that's going to see the table - at least not for infinity.
The joystick is odd, but not a deal breaker for me. I think the gun barrel should be 1/3 shorter. I love the wench system on its back.
That pose is something, which is too bad because I was looking forward to this one. I presume if we are seeking the 3d render there is no chance the pose will change and I'm not big enough O-12 fan to bother with converting it until it starts looking cool.
It's a remote presence TAG, so it's controlled by neural impulse, essentially hijacking the signals from the pilots brain and sending to the TAG instead of their flesh body. A manual control lets a soldier fire the weapon just like they would when they're not controlling the TAG, like most other remote presence TAGs that carry their weaponry.
Out of all the Tags revealed, the one I was looking forward to the most is the worst looking one. :( I'll be converting this model, without question. Gun looks too big for a wrist mounted weapon, and the pose just... Nope. I think I'll give it a skeleton key in its hands and mount the gun on its back/shoulders. I might shorten the barrel too.
I’m not sure about this one. I like a lot of the design elements, but the end result doesn’t overly impress me, for some reason. Could well grow on me though, or look better painted.
On dossier Zeta looks great but this 3d render is way worse. Its arms look way bigger than in concept art, gun is longer. It looks odd.
I was excpecting to see the render before taking a decision, but now that's clear my unused Dragoes will figure my brand new Zeta... ^^'
Sry, but I‘ve seen him and thought: What the heck? How can this design go into production? It's ugly as h***. And the 3D model is even more ugly
The 3D renders often look a little chonky as they're sculpted to compensate for material shrinkage that happens when the hard metal master is made from the 3D print, then when the rubber mould is made from the master, and then when the actual pewter miniatures are made from the mould. Having said that, the Zeta is my least favourite of the TAGs they showed.
But it doesnt explain why HRMC is longer but It wont be hard to shorten it. I like the design, although it screams shoulder mounted rockets pods. Maybe they will give something in N4 but I dont have high hopes.
I guess the shoulder weapons splurt glue as Zeta has the Heavy Riotstopper. I like it as a whole, only problem is the weirdly mounted gun, which i will try and Mount under his arm, connect it to the stick in his hand and sculpt some kinda brace around the forearm to imitate it being a Rotary gun like Szalamandra has
I think the big thing on the shoulder fires cables for Climbing+ as it seems to have a barrel underneath to retract the cable into.
