Just up the damage of the attack to 20 and make sure there's no armour (manually add cover when applicable!) on the other side gives you a 100% damage chance on successful hits.

    Puppetactica: 62% vs 27%/17%
    Pi-Well: 71% vs 18%/11%

Better, but not necessarily worth spending any extra orders unless Pi-Well is already close enough and is a good recipient for the supportware going forward

Not to derail this thread with a constructive conversation or anything... but wow not having played TJC or Vanilla lately I didn't realise Puppets were WIP14. WIP15 specialist FO REM is pretty nice with a REM Racer in Nomads!

I guess it depends on a bunch of things range, risk mitigation, supportware, full order skill or not and visors. Pi Well is going to be low risk at long range across the table if you dont have supportware and can get triangulated FO against a non Visor ARO (where the opponent is likely hitting on 4s beyond max good range vs 10s or 11s, and an engineer can likely be standing by). Whereas closer up (under 24 for a ML or 16 for a sniper) vs a visor with supportware a puppet has higher numbers but the ARO does too. Like 3 dice on 15s (with supportware and REM racer) vs 2 on 13s ish. And you don't lose an order if you lose big.

Nice to have both options. Thanks for the insight. I might have to try vanilla again, it's been a while.

Just ran the math - figured out how to using the N4 calculator (DAM20 weapon vs ARM0 target).

Purely for forward observing, against a non-visor option, Piwell's mimetism weighs out against the puppetbot's against a non-visor target, with both better chance to succeed and lower chance to get shot in return. For example, under ideal circumstances the puppet in my above example would be 67.5% to target the hollow man, whereas Piwell would be about 75% (and only 17% to die).

I don't think that's going to favour me activating the puppets most times because their other advantages are pretty significant (purely ablative troops, extra wounds, B3 shotgun, whole second puppet with a rifle, etc) but it's very useful to know.
