Mostly I hate that the space themed low-mid tech faction in high tech setting boils down to dumb guys with swords and mutants with hmgs in its better lists that are made right now (i.e. feels like Caledonia even when plays differently - has great droptroops for starters). 0 reason to pick Kosmosoldat, 0 reason to pick any LT that is not Wallace, 0 reason to not build around Varangian-Volkolak core. Feels like OSS which got solved very easily and narrowed to a single list with maybe 50 points for mission-related options. Strange that such a pushed in powerlevel army is that far from actual models release.

And Duroc with Dep.Zone parachutist is just a horrible design mistake

Why would you take a Varangian - Volkolak core and Wallace? Wallace is 35 points to do nothing. Rokots are 9 points and you can hide the lt. A Volkolak - Rokot core is the same price and has a lt. The Volkolak does not want to run around the table so the Varangians can throw smoke. He wants to slide around your half and shoot his HMG. Varangains core best with Wallace, Cadin, and UKR, not Volkolak.

Maybe give the edition 1 week before declaring a faction solved.

Space monkeys got also dep zone parachutist, so you can get someone better than zant for cheaper...his only grace is dogged...kinda sad to saw him not being unique any more...

personally i wish CB spent the resources on (the much needed) improving and defining the existing non-tak sectorials rather than creating kosmoflot

they had O-12 and starmarda to debut with N4, they didn't need this

Wallace turns irmandinho, warcor and the irreg bear into reg orders making sure you hit 15 regs (or rather 13+mirage) every time. With his significant buffs to survivability there is no reason to bother with 9 pt "kill me" LT.

Volkolak hits hard in the most common engagement range, shrugs off flashpulses (most important thing) and his buddies provide defense/offense in the closer ranges once you need to move out.

For 1 more point, the Irregular bear order is regular and comes with a DZ guard. Irmandinhos want to use their irregular order on themselves anyway. Instead of a 9 point hidden lt, you have a 35 point super obvious kill me Lt. It is easier to get to 15 regular order without Wallace than with. Also, with a 15 model limit, spending 35 points on a model that you don't plan on funneling orders into is a giant waste.

The Volkolak HMG never wants or needs to move out. It never needs to be closer than 16 inches to anything. There are plenty of other models that can move out, like say a Haris of UKR + 2 Scots NCO forward observers. Or Uxia, or SAS, or Pavel, or Paracommandos, or Mirage-5.

I somewhat disagree that Wallace is as mandatory as a lieutenant in Kosmo as it could be in CHA, apart from the Irmandinhos and the cateran you will not use it much more since as they have said, for 1 more point you have the regular Bearpode, Although If it is true that that heavy shotgun with 16 damage is quite tempting I really think that the bearpode what you are going to look for is hitting with the Trench Hammer with 18 damage.

Wallace is an interesting addition there is no doubt, a Wallace haris with the Varengians is quite fun, although I say, this haris is better used with the Unknown Ranger since with his Spitfire AP he needs to get a little closer than with the Machine Gun (from the volkolak ) and these can cover you well by smoking

Another best option for the unknown ranger is with the Scot Guard, the cheapest submachine gun with NCO and together with Tactical Awareness you can give your group a greater quantity of orders, thus balancing the limitation of 15 orders.

The Volkolak for its part offensively, the rokot look great, little types of cheap orders that if you need it, you put people to do missions.

Defensively, the 2 volkolak + 3 rokot combo can be fun, although volkolak is within Frontovik's defensive core (that's why having one with a visor and another without a visor)

So Wallace is now a Lieutenant option, opening up a lot of possibilities like regular irmandinhos, etc. Very easy to get an incredibly strong midfield presence with mobile elements like UKR backed up by CHA-inspired hordes of specialist irmandinhos.

    gTIJa29zbW9mbG90C0tPU01PRkxPVC4ggSwCAQoAgQMBAgAAhbUBAQAAhbUBAQAAgQUBCQAAgQUBCQAAgQUBBgAAgPgBAQAAgO0BBAAAgO0BBAAAMgEBAAIFAIMJAQMAAIDwAQIAAIDwAQIAAIDwAQIAAIDwAQIA

Draft concept. Lack of sensor not a huge deal as you have regular chain rifles out the wazoo.

Second version that leans much more heavily into a core VG + UKR suicide link with 4 regular irmandinhos which now have impetuous, not ext impetuous - making the 2nd group not just a disposable group of 1-wound warband smoke throwers, but a dedicated squad of controllable specialists.

Haven't even explored things like the Polaris and Duroc yet.

Kosmo looking very interesting, and if you are so minded, the benefits of Kosmo like that core UKR link, regular irmandinhos/cateran are well worth trading off for core vanilla pieces like the Spets HMG and the Antipodes.

If you are loosing your 9pt lt, you are doing it wrong..never lost one.

When you have few 9pt guys scattered on floors and not rly accessible spaces, you think opponent will spent his whole order pool trying to find your lt(and he can't be sure if that 9pt is order monkey or lt, or is maybe some camo token lt) and ignoring rest of your army and objectives?!

Wallace on other hand is super obvious lt, and not rly that hard to kill tbh...

This is my issue as a USARF player. Took our special things, put them elsewhere. Ignored most of the faction instead. Cool, thanks CB. Biggest buff probably wasn't even on purpose, and that's midfield grunt flamethrowers that can link if needed.

I mean, why not ignore most of the faction?

USARF bought all their stuff already.

Because a company that doesn't show loyalty to its small niche customer base can't expect them to show loyalty to it in turn.

If USAR hadn't gotten completely shit on this edition, I might well have bought some Cosmoflot models to add in when I'm playing generic Ariadna. But since Corvus Belli has basically written me off, I see no reason to give them any more of my money.

Should have added a smiley face--but you're 100% right. My comment was meant to be snark.

CB, unfortunately, has gotten enough captive market share at this point to effectively be immune to the lesson that they need to learn with regards to that. They started up at just the right time with just the right concept that has let them do so.
At this point, N5 or a N4 book has to basically force them to hemorrhage customers in order for them to 'get' the lesson that company loyalty (or at least a perception of company to customer loyalty) is a Good Thing.

I have a sinking feeling this happened because of Starmada. One sectorial comes in and another has to go, but O-12 doesn't have another sectorial to be cycled out, so off went CHA. Kosmoflot seems like CB's Onyx Contact Force/NA2 inspired attempt to mitigate the damage and keep Ariadna stocked with three in-production sectorials. They're trying to have their cake and eat it too.

And I'm okay with it but I recognize that's cause I subscribe to the "if you don't like the army fluff, paint it differently to change the narrative" school. So here comes an orange and blue paint job for the Ariadnan version of the Indian Space Research Organization, which is way more interesting to me fluff-wise than Kosmoflot. But I totally get the salt from folks who wanted an MRRF reboot, hate the NA2 style hodgepodge, didn't want more TAK-eque minis, etc. It is absolutely understandable to wish CB went a different route.
