Communication about this event, in general, has been lackluster. I think a part of what's going on is the lack of direction from CB/BoW.
Playing spiral Corp as tohaa using your tohaa account you've already set up is unlikely to cause problems for anyone. The issues people have with this seem to stem mostly from the second account needed to give the points to O12.
I know I really wouldn't care if someone used Spiral to score points for Tohaa – go crazy with a little fluff reason too, just makes my experience more interesting
I agree, I doubt anyone has an issue with simply playing one faction for another, just the having multiple accounts
As others said, one account and playing a different faction with an interesting narrative. That's 100% cool in everyone's book.
From a narrative standpoint I think it is fine if reasonable effort is made for justification. Just score points at the going rate of the list being played. If the deputies weren't getting an extra two points per win, I don't think this discussion would be happening.
Right, it's the different scoring rates for different factions that's caused the issue. Given that Ariadna and O-12 are both fighting in the same theatre using an O-12 account with an Ariadna army looks like a transparent attempt to pick up extra points.
Hello commanders! While we appreciate and love your RP, we cannot accept that "Deputy" reports as valid. Registered players must only use armies from their registered faction and its sectorials. That's the same for every faction in the campaign. We are enjoying seeing the RP developing between factions, and this ruling in no way blocks your ongoing alliances for the remainder of the campaign. In addition we are looking into ways to show your alliances impact after the campaign closes. We appreciate your love for the game and the passionate narrative, but we also want everyone can enjoy the campaign equally. Good luck commanders! The Moderation Team.
The immediate followup there is, obviously, what does an alliance DO? If an Ariadnan player wins at the Xarax ammo module, and Ariadna is allied with O-12, will the Ariadnan points they score count towards O-12 for determining who controls the theatre?
:cries in plans for a EI Ramah Task Force converted army: My dreams! Dashed to a million pieces! Like my toddler playing with my army men!
I have to echo theGricks here. I think this was a lost opportunity to make the campaign and RP more interesting and fun. I was really excited by the prospect of fighting sepsitorized forces of the CA :(
@Koni Thanks for the answer. Still to count out any "reading between the lines". the following scenario: That someone can play for O-12 if they use an O-12 army. But they can theme the army around Ariadna. So max use of Varangian Guard in the list and Soldiers of Fortune added in. So it is an O-12 army, but will have an Ariadnan look?
Well, with these news the campaign just ended for me. Without access to my Nomad miniatures and without the chance to score for Nomads (or let my opponents score for their respective faction) while playing StarCo there is also no reason/motivation to further participate.
@Koni, for people like Tristan228 above, does that mean anything they did from the start of the campaign is wasted?
I think it has less to do with people that have been playing for the side they've been playing with since the beginning (like many Spiral and StarCo players), and more with switching sides to play a different army to directly gain points for an ally.
