Why so serious? Or can someone summarize the negativity

Yeah, at least the final model fixed that. The non-sealed pants seem like a really bad idea for a unit known for dropping out of orbit, trudging through jungles and even fighting in vacuum or the deep ocean thanks to their Multiterrain. To be fair, Ariadna is much, much worse with this, I think only four units in that whole faction have sealed suits, and they're all HI with only the Moblot having a terrain skill.

CB are poor at communication. People are annoyed because they've been looking forward to using their model in a sectorial, then discover at the last moment it's no longer in there.

You'd get the same complaints if OSS released without posthumans, or TAK decided to ditch Vet Kazaks or some other iconic unit that's been waiting and waiting for its sectorial. It's not a big deal gameplay wise if the sectorial is designed to function well without them, but from a customer perspective it feels disrespectful that CB can't keep the consumers up to date with planned changes and I get why people are shitty about it.

    Yet so do the Zhencha.

Which just adds more confusion to the fire now, it seems.

Time to try another reset ARO to put all this complaining and infighting behind us.

Let's get over ourselves and not regularly drag this place to 40k levels of negativity. We've got a new sectorial dropping in a few days which has to be followed by several months of new mini releases, let's enjoy it! Go team Yu Jing!

I'm not that excited about the sectorial itself as I am excited about what the sectorial will bring to vanilla YJ.

Sadly, we know VERY little of what we will be getting in advance ( Just a handful of remarks here and there and two nice unit profiles ( Not jaw dropping per say, but stuff I can be pretty glad about nonetheless anyways. ) ).

On the bright side... army is supposed to hopefuly be updated with the new stuff next week, right?

From the very beginning, Daofei have been the Tactical Section of the Invincible Army. I have N1, N2, and N3 books in front of me, and the fluff didn't change between editions.

    No, the N3 fluff says:
Copied that straight out of the N3 Core book.

Although the Daofei N3 dossier art does say "Yu Jing / White Banner Army" written at the top, and the dude is shown having arctic camo patterns on his poncho.

I think that part of the problem is that negativity feeds itself. Uprising was bad, therefore IA need to be especially good, I expected X from IA and got Y, this is even worse, these units are unplayable etc... it all snowballs.

Honestly YJ players should probably just wait for the new Sectoral to be released before they issue judgement. And also as a point of note, I can totally accept that people don't like the Uprising fluff in places, but personally? I think it's pretty decent, and that most of the criticisms are levelled as "but why didn't they just do this!" to which the answer is, "they made mistakes," which is perfectly realistic. I give you; every government on the planet now, in the past and in the future.

It’s nifty that Tigers and Daofei were formerly intended for IA. However, they aren’t actually in it, no matter how some might wish it otherwise. It can either be a sticking point that destroys enjoyment, or something moved on from. Going over it ad nauseum does what, exactly, at this point?

Because it's emblematic of how CB doesn't communicate well.

Their more passive communication is fine as long they aren't subtracting things and only rolling in positives.

But when you actively subtract things, you need to put your game face on and explain what's what both before and after the cuts. Surprises do you no favors if people, rocked by changes, are looking for stability.

Especially when said changes can leave people hanging for hundreds of $.

And the Tiger Soldier clearly had Yu Jing/Invincible Army on its dossier. But that got us a whole lot of fuck all.

Bottom line is that leaving the Daofei out was stupid. It has been part of the Invincible Army since the beginning. Its training area isn’t even in an arctic area, let alone Huang Di. And apparently that logo redesign doesn’t even mean shit because the Zencha has the same bloody style. It had every reason to be in IA and not WB, but CB bent over fucking backwards and retconned some of the game’s oldest fluff to make it happen.

Look, most of us knew the Daofei was getting left out (and we said it was a shitty decision at the time as well). But that doesn’t make the act of doing so any less idiotic on the face of it. It was stupid when they let it slip, it’s stupid now, and it will be stupid after the inevitable retcon. If I had to pinpoint the first time I stopped feeling excited about the IA then it was that tidbit right there.

Hell, we shouldn’t even trust colour schemes to tell us shit anymore, let alone dossiers. I mean, the Shikami got a Yu Jing paint scheme version after all and we all know how that went.

It does as much good (well, less actually, at least salt is discussion, this is just trying to shut discussion down) as you playing unofficial forum moderator again. You don’t get to tell people to fucking let it go when you can’t seem to let a single comment about it slide. So either put in for an actual mod position on the forums or stop trying to police them. If you don’t think something is appropriate for discussion then report it and move on, you’re not CB’s appointed Defense force buddy.

You realize a PanO literally asked about it? It'll get brought up if it's asked for.

Its worst than that. Because most of the units in those sectorials aren't irreplaceable to Generic Pano. While Yu JIng lost a lot of unique units with the JSA split.

I think another good example would be:
"Imagine, all your BS 15 stuff goes into another sectorial called the sharpshooters, now, you are the faction with a crappy WIP without the good BS"

One of the JSA color variations shown in Uprising is arctic camo, too. Pretty cool pattern, actually, but not commonly seen. I'm planning on using it on my Daofei.

I admit, the sour grapes about Daofei not being in Invincible Army predates N3, to the point that it should be some pretty decent wine by now. But when CB doesn't change the unit fluff, even the newest players are going to wonder WTF.

The bait&switch about the Tigers is much newer, and actually resulted in us giving bad advice to a new player for what he should buy and paint.

Yeah, as much as the Daofei thing (and the Zhanshi thing for that matter) grinds my gears, the Tiger Soldier thing ranks up there with the Shikami bait and switch to me. Because it was one of those things that 100% affected new players who went and picked it up for the express purposes of starting a new force only to find out that it wasn't a thing at all and that their new acquisition is just a paperweight/proxy unless they start a force that can take it natively.

That stings and could be easily preventable with actual communication from CB. Now we're left wondering whether Red Veil was a typo, whether CB just straight up re-designed the list without giving anyone a heads up (which is a bad play on their part), or whether the sectorial list we were given was incomplete. But since zero communication is the norm, we just can't assume anything or make an educated guess, all it does is damage any kind of trust we had with CB going forward. But the bottom line is that people were giving new folks, who were excited about getting a head start on IA, the "go ahead and grab Tigers!" advice. Which now appears to have just been BS. I mean, CB got their money, so they obviously don't give a damn, but it isn't a good look for them or the community when it starts happening more and more.

In the wake of uncertainty about the support of certain sectorials going forward, as well as a mounting handful of profiles that just get straight up removed from their original list (or even the game in some cases) without much warning, it really makes it hard to recommend new players just dive in anywhere they wish. This shit isn't kosher when GW or any other minis company does it, and CB shouldn't get a free pass from it (especially since they're starting to develop a track record now).

Just as I said back during Uprising, the key here is that CB really needs to get better at communicating this stuff in advance. Because at best it just makes them look woefully disorganized for a company that has been in the game this long, at worst it can start to look like a calculated plan not to affect their sales on things they should know are going OOP or getting moved around in the future. Either way does not cover them in glory.

What sort of communication would have satisfied those of you who are claiming they lack communication? Dont just say anything, please be somewhat specific. What could corvus belli said in an official capacity that would have made you happy?
