So hang on, we know that 2 of the new sectorials come in a 2 player operation adjective noun box, but Tunguska, Varuna (or Svalarhiema), Ramah and the invincibles all come from factions that are in 2 player boxes... So either CB are double dipping one faction, or at least one of those four isn't coming...
Sectorials might be a bit differen matter. Or they might phase out Icestorm. Now, if we could get OSS vs SEF box... it's be an autobuy for me.
Worth mentioning that Varuna has been cited repeatedly in seminars since GenCon, and we have seen Kamau dossier redesign, rule redesign, and new mini. Also ORC redesign and confirmation of an SWC box with Varuna paint scheme coming in 2018, and examples of Kamau art. By contrast, Nisse are being repackaged for SKU reduction. That looks like a long term "holding pattern" solution until they're bundled into a bigger release.
Video here: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10157194240933569 Here the measurements. Remember T8 is complete, while T9 is from the week or so after the Interplanetario till last week or so (so still 8 months or so to go). In any case, Tohaa shows as the least played army.
Interesting to see the so far in T9 we have a fairly flat looking chart besides a drop in Haq and rise in Ariadna from T8.
Considering that Tohaa don't have sectorials... And are, indeed, much similar to a sectorial... I think that data is not so bad. Aleph with a generic plus a sectorial is little more used than Tohaa for example. Maybe we have to consider this and don't make allarmistic statements. Mask
Looks like the LVO embargo is over, so I can talk about what we saw at the Cancon seminar this weekend just passed: 1. Shaasvasti are confirmed *not* making 2018. 2. Triumvirate/any Tohaa sectorial are confirmed *not* making 2018. 3. At least 1 of the 5 slots is *probably* a second Mercenary list. 4. O-12 is *not* making 2018 (rumour is it's pretty much Saladin and Aleph Remotes as a core) My personal guess is something like: Varuna, Tunguska, Random Merc Sectorial, and then 2 of the following three: Ramah Taskforce, Vedic, White Banner/Invincible Army.
I was at LVO, Bostria said that Merc lists were not part of the 5 armies being released. So basically we're getting 5 + all the unaligned stuff. Sounds like Shaasvasti aren't making it for the same reason the Triumvirate aren't, the sculpting for them is more time consuming as for the human stuff they already have rigs and so making a new figure goes fast. We were told that the new Tohaa stuff is mostly exalted creatures and those all have to be made from scratch which is a lot more time consuming. We also go that 2 of the new armies will be in an Icestorm style battle box this year. The rest should have USariadna style army box releases.
What's the point of giving them new units? Everyone's just going to run Kaeltars, Makauls, and Sukeuls.
Using all the info collected until now from seminars and looking into how things are presented, my solid guesses are Yes this year (in order of most sure to least sure) Varuna: being pushed and talked about frequently, varuna orcs and kamau making many recent appearances OSS: Also mentioned a lot, new unit (danavas) , mentions of recent dakini link testing, garuda sculpts, not in 2 player box yet TAK: Irmandinhos new release and confirmed for TAK, new veteran kazak dossier released a while ago, also not in 2 player box yet Tugunska: talked about lately aswell, many units names leaked (hollow men, zond nautica, etc...), szally resculpt, kriza release Rama: recent addition of fatality lvl 2 to khawarij, Tarik re-sculpt, Al fasid redone for Rama No this year (in order of most to least sure again) Triumverate: confirmed by bostria, new designs taking longer to create due to them being non-humanoid Shasvastii: no new shasvastii seen yet, not talked about too much other than "we are working on it" Invincible army: Red Veil YJ units not confirmed as 100% IA like haqq was for Rama, no new designs for brand new units, IA also not being pushed as much, could be switched out with Rama since both could be done but havent been hyped up as much as the top 4 "yes this year" sectorals. Also worth mentioning from the Q&A, Brawler female model will be preorder model for new book this year. Book confirmed to contain new sectoral army rules and units, but also confirmed to be smaller than previous books. Exact number of pages is either around 186 or 123 pages but i cant seem to remember which.
The only sectorial we know that's playtested and done is Invincible Army, but they have started putting White Banner on units already and we know this one won't be released for years. I believe White Banner logos have been on blisters and Dossiers for at least 3 years. Ariadna is also stupidly overburdened with sectorials, just like Pan-O.
What are they doing with the frogs that take such a long time? Are the redesigning their entire look like they did to the Morat? Or is it a really big issue figuring out how to make then work well as a sectorial, rules-wise? Does anyone know?
Yes, this is exactly what they are doing. Bostria said that designing aliens take much more time than designing human units, because they need to make many concept arts for the units and they need to make many different versions of every unit until they are happy with their look. Bostria said in the video for Cancon that they will start working on the Shas after summer.
We also use things like the Clipsos, CB could easly release a third one because right now you can only get one in the Starter (Combi Rifle) and the other is a Sniper. And, if I'm not mistaken, the Sniper one was a 3D rendered model, so it'd be "easy" to create a new one (and most Tohaa players would buy it). Tohaa players are not asking for incredibly new and awesome profiles and models. Right now, we just want to complete missing profiles: Sakiel, Clipsos, Ectros... we would be fine just with another Sukeul (the one most used, the HMG Sukeul).
Seriously guys do you really think that we are going to have a campaign on planet Dawn without the Tartarian Army Korps? Tunguska Ramah Invincible Army Cossacks Varuna vedic is not coming, the remotes are for the o12 list "ala" druze sectorial, and it will contain units of the 5 new sectorials Tunguska, Ramah, Invincible Army, Cossacks, Varuna, with aleph remotes.
I like the symmetrical sense that this makes as well, 5 new sectorials and all of them for the original 5 human factions.
