I don't hate ANY faction. Hate is a wasted emotion on mandollies. There are just game factions and model lines I won't ever choose to buy or play with. Some are due to ingrained subconscious biases that I've probably had from childhood (that I'll blame my dad for, since he fled Hungary in the early 60s after Soviet occupation) - like TAK or Tunguska (Descended from Organitskaya money laundering groups. Mostly they just have models I don't like enough to want to paint. Tohaa, Bakunin (furry freak brothers and deviant nuns), Combine, Ariadna in general (French, scots and yanks - they can join the Rooskies), Aconte and MO in PanO (If I want to play with space knights, I have an entire army from that other game to use). The armies I have are just the ones where I like enough of the models to make a playable force.
Factions? I don't do "factions" generally speaking. There generally aren't enough models in the faction range that I like for me to want to play vanilla. So I choose to play sectorial forces where the models I actually like get used over ones I don't or would never take. Note: I said "models" not "profiles". It's the miniatures that got me into this game, not the numbers and stuff The game is a bonus to having the models, not the reason for getting them. I am a "maker" first, gamer fifth or sixth on the list. So I play Neoterra, Qapu khalqi, Juris-my dic-tion of Corregidor (aka "the vertical smile of Corregidor") and JSA (arguments could be made to add Starco and Druze to that list (since I have the majority of their units in those forces that I have anyway. I do not as yet play them.). I also have a handful of vanilla Aleph but they haven't had anything added to them since Human Sphere N2 was a thing and I haven't played with them since before N3 and haven't decided on the new take. The bots are a radical enough change that it would mean starting them again from scratch anyway. I'll make up my mind with varuna and Svartalfheim (land of the darkish elfkin) when I see more models and whether I like them enough to want to play them. I'm not fussed on the new kamau direction (they lost the micro MHD thruster packs on the renders, which were at least a cool high tech thing for an aquatic force) so undecided, really. I don't HAVE to want to play ALL of the things, though. Just enough of them for me. And again, I can have fun just assembling and painting them and using them for Eclipse Phase figures or CP2020 in the event of me ceasing to play the game.
Gameplay-wise? Tohaa. They would be fine if it weren't for the skewed cost of symbiont armor and the absolute BS that is symbiomates Lore-wise? Tohaa. Smug bastards are behind every shitty thing that has happened to humanity since the wormholes were discovered, and still pretend to be our friends!
That's the Triunvirate, future NA2 Sectorial. Saying that Tohaa "are behind every shitty thing that has happened to humanity since the wormholes were discovered" is like saying that all Muslim are responsible for 11-S and everything bad that happened to the USA since then.
Tohaamon wouldn't be so bad if they were actually a unit(not just representing a state or wheatever the fuck) on the table, and something targetable.
I feel like this thread is an ill-advised excuse to be negative. And coming from me I hope that's saying something.
I find the Nomads to be flat out annoying in every possible way. I dislike their aesthetics, and I strenuously disagree with their values in the lore and find them to be totally lacking in moral character. But most importantly, I remember being absolutely brutalized by a Nomad player when I was first starting Infinity, and it is for that reason that I hate Nomads with a passion, and a vengeance.
I wouldn't say they're responsible for EVERYTHING happening to humanity, but they ARE directly responsible for the "failure" of the Aurora/Ariadna Dawn missions (both the cutting the original wormhole link from Earth-Dawn and for cutting the second (Aurora) one while it was in transit to Dawn to finish the mission (and diverting it to Paradiso). They also activated a T'zechi digester signal that drew the combine TO Paradiso AND made them aware of humanity. So while the Combine might well have discovered humanity in the centuries to come - they (tohaa) ARE responsible for the Combine moving into human space and initiating conflict while humanity are only a small danger to the combine (If humanity EVER manages to get its collective shit together and stop crapping on with regards to nationalistic spirit/tribal bullshit , they might actually kick the combine kiesters back to where-ever they came from.
It weren't "the Tohaa", it was the Triumvirate, a splinter group who betrayed the ideals of the Tohaa as ceeper race as well.
A guy called Adolf something from some Nacional Socialist whatever party wants to befriend you He is saying something about thinking alike, sharing interests and goals...
