Yup. But you have better chances of being able to protect Atalanta during the reactive phase if you position the myrmidon so that he can try to smoke instead of having him in a hidden spot ^^ Well that also makes the myrmidon a potential target, and with no long range weapon he can make a pretty easy target even with ODD. Whatever, i'm not really fond of letting Atalanta in sight during the reactive phase, except when it's the last turn.

I play three factions, and have yet to find a model that is unplayable. Some only shine in some very specific circumstances, and some suffer from being slightly outclassed by another model in most situations. It is hard to go wrong with buying what you like, you should find a place for it. It is important to build a balanced list with lots of tools, but just about any miniature can find a battle role in the right list.

That being said, the Posthuman, is probably one of two profiles that the community will mostly agree is too good. (The other is the Haqquislam Ghazi) I got into Aleph because of the Asura, and the Posthumans. Posthumans got a huge buff with the change in rules to N3, and are absolutely amazing. They are a little difficult to get your head around their mechanics, but I guarantee you won't be disappointed. If a N4 rule ever comes about, I expect the Posthumans to get hit with the nerf bat hard. But I will keep playing them no matter what.

When your looking to expand your force, I would look for profiles that do something nobody else in your current collection does. That will end up giving you a nice varied force to work with.

Andromeda trys hard to qualify for that one position. Not because others do it better but because she has characteristics that hinder her at what she is supposed to do: be a specialist in the midfield. Doesn't help that she has nice equipment and characteristics for that job, when she just can't get through that door or get up those stairs.

But to be fair that is the only model I know of with these issues.

Oh of course she is very easily dealt with in your active turn everything has a counter or poor odds for some combo sure! But thats still two orders used in its best range band if that happend further out it may even waste more. To me its all about knowing what to sacrifice and when to give you the best odds for either winning or stalling.

Atalanta is in a league of her own. If you're worried she goes down (lacking any defensive mechanism: you should) just park a Yudbot linked to Machaon (preferably Lt and not in a fireteam) next to her and resurrect her on a regular basis. Beware of shock, viral, T2 and similar evil things!
Huhh, almost forgot stating the obvious: never ever expose her in your reactive turn! She is an active turn hunter-killer. You need B2, and the ability to pick your fight. In firefights burst is king. TR bots are not her preferred targets, either...

While I agree on a general level with what you say, exposing her in reactive depends also a lot on what you are facing.

If you are able to smoke her at the beginning of the turn (because some WB move for example) against an army without MSV 2 she can ARO realy well. Also in an end game, when faced mostly with rifle, she could very well protect an objectives.

To conclude : ARO is not her best quality but in the right situation, she can do it. Infinity is a game about adaptability (to your opponent, to the table, to the mission, to the current situation)
