Technically no, but both Seed Soldiers and Cadmus deploy in a marker state so get surprise shot that way.
That's why I said it. Your post could be taken to mean that any marker state gives those skills, when that's not the case.
Yes, its been confirmed in the rules thread that the combo of hatch + shoot will give surprise shot (or suprise hack), so long as the model was in camo or decoy at the start of the order.
Can someone confirm for me the Seed Embryo's Chest Mines in the following situation: Seed Embryo gets an ARO against an enemy within range, declares Chest Mine ARO. Does this automatically hatch the troop too, or is that a separate skill (so you have to choose to chest mine or hatch/dodge)? If so, why would you ever want to use the chest mine, and almost guarantee the enemy a free shot on your undeveloped form?
chest mine does not hatch the model. you would chest mine as sometimes you want to just kill the enemy. also by using the chest mine you are encouraging your opponent to dodge. if there is only a couple of orders left it makes sense to chest mine. Slow the enemy down.
Second possibility is using Chest Mines against enemy AROs. Drop a Cadmus behind enemy sniper, shoot at him with a different unit (Seeds seem like a good throwaways for this purpose), force enemy to either try to dodge giving you a safe shot, or shoot back and eat a mine. Bonus points for catching more units under the template.
That's not how chest mines work. They're a BS and CC weapon; the only commonality they have with actual mines is the name.
At 16 points for the most basic profile, I'd sacrifice a seed to use a chest mine or two on many things in this game. That is to say nothing of what's already been noted above.
I think Fatality L2 on Sheskiin makes me *less* likely to buy into Shasvastii... I just hate that ability so much.
What I wish Shasvastii got was a nerf. So I don't have to watch so much what kind of lists I'm making. :( I'm flat out not gonna use Sheeskin. Or the Minelayer Dazer. Or the AD guy with Decoy, but instead with Camo - he's already good.
I really don't get this hate with Fatality. I mean, it is a very strong skill and does feel rather unintuitive considering the game rules. But it isn't the boogeyman people make it out to be. And unlike the rumors going around, BS21 and Fatality lvl2 doesn't make you crit at 1,19 and 20. Because the 1 adds to your roll, you no longer crit at 1, because every 1 you roll becomes a 2. I'm surprised to see people complain about this update, but I also complained about the Morat one so I will not take a high ground stance here.
