The fact that I learned about the project through there Band-Maid newsletter is absolutely not relevant here
Same here lol. But it's also on the much of the Japanese music news. I'll watch it just for them but I also grew up with old versions of this anime.
First half season of **Grendeizer U** is really enjoyable. I like the way they reboot this, especially having Koji back to his Mazinger pilot status (I understand that was a major concern for Japanese audience in the original serie). Also watched some Mashle episodes. That's the kind of twisted serie I enjoy a lot
Being more attentive to the messages send by the universe since a few months I can't avoid the obvious. A few weeks ago Dandadan as been added to the Prime catalog, lasted week one of my anime channel started broadcast of the undubbed version and another one will start the french one by the end of the month. So it was clear that I should watch this show. And it's totally my kind of twisted anime. Extra point, the opening is by Creepy nuts that made the Call of the night opening too. Even if I really dig into the latest, I enjoy this one enough to give them more credit in the future.
Pretty common as there's usually a break around December January half-time style. Episode 12 tomorrow (6 episodes per week). I'm also watching season 2 of The Apothecary Diaries. I'm usually not appealed by historically set anime (even if this one is not an historical one per se) but I have to admit that it really caught me by surprise and I'm hooked now.
@Koin-Koin Band-Maid did the opening song and did motion capture for the characers! Rock is a Ladies Modesty. Their names for things are strange as usual.
I think I'll give it a try but so far I didn't get into the previous girls band anime that showed lately.
In the actual season, The Apothecary Diaries (currently on Season 2 and catching the manga) for the "doctor-detective IN....!!!" (in this case, forbidden city in pseudo-historical-China), I like the misteries and how they get solved. Also, a surprise from the deconstruct/mix genre, Sister and Giant: A Young Lady is Reborn in Another World, as an Isekai deconstruction (you got cheats? worry not, the natives know of them and have methods to turn you into Human Resources... also, it was not a god, but some sort of machine what "inserts people in"), with touches of supposed Yuri (love-hate betrayal is a core motivation of the protagonist) and Gray and Gray morality. I'ts 18+ not because of the spicy art (there is little, and justified, instead of random) but of the explicit and implicit violence. It seems to go after the Isekai deconstruction trope as hard as Puella Magi Madoka was for magical girls or Evangelion for teens in mechas. The manga is available in Amazon (or nyaatorr...)
There's quite a lot of thing aired here lately that catch my attention including shipping that I thought I'd pass. So much that I have something everyday and some recording catch up during the week. Monday: - 3 episodes of Witch Watch, some wtf witch in a human school with dumb spells that always have counterparts. I lives those wtf anime. - 6 episodes of Solo Leveling. I didn't expect to get into but her I am. Tuesday: - 3 episodes of Kaiju n°8. I love this one but same I almost missed it. Wednesday: - some Lupin III movies but I already saw those so I can backlog the weekly Apothecary episode Thursday: - nothing because Demon Slayer is not my thing Friday: - 4 episodes of Urusei Yatsura (the new one). Just because I loved the old one back in the days. Sunday: - 4 episodes of Lupin III the Italian adventures (blue jacket period) This leaves me a bit of time to watch the 5 episodes of Chainsaw Man aired during the week. Once again something I would have overlooked but that I'll glad to give it a chance. Two extra series on Prime but I barely follow: - the Dinner Table Detective, fin idea but losing speed quickly - the last Gundam serie, it never was my thing even with big giant robot digging in space
My major anime phase was early to mid 90s Stuff like Fist of the North Star, Appleseed OAV, Ninja Scroll, Dominion Tank Police, Space Adventure Cobra and so forth. One that I really enjoyed at the time but I am almost afraid to watch now in case its trash was Crying Freeman, can anybody advise me if it is actually good or I just liked it because I was a weird angsty teen weeb?
I didn't know there's an anime, I thought that it was a manga only. On this one, it's quite dark but with an elaborate drawing style. Some would say that it's only worth the tatoo aesthetic and the sex scenes but I don't remember it enough to make a personal statement here. What I remember is the 1995 live action movie with Mark Dacascos and made by a french director. I really enjoyed it but you have to remember that at that time it was quite a thing to get an occidental adaptation of such piece of work. I think it's worth watching but I'm a bit biased being french myself.
Mid-late 90s was my anime phase too, then mid-00s. But thinking back most of the stuff I watched was quite trash (excepting Studio Ghibli stuff). I also never understand the praise for Evangelion. I grew up watching stuff like Mazinger Z and Macros. I like: Cowboy Bebop Samurai Champloo Nodame Cantabile Lovely Complex Moyashimon: Tales of Agriculture More recently on Netflix: Cells at Work Delicious Dungeon Dan Da Dan I've been meaning to watch the OG 80s Gundam movies, but haven't gotten around to them.
