Oh, man, that is so true!

Loss of LT in N2 was lose-your-next-turn crippling.

I conceded games on turn 2 because I'd been put into LoL on turn 1 and then had the replacement killed in turn 2 (this was before Chain of Command was a thing). You got two regular orders, any irregular orders, and Impetuous models still alive in your list, and any model with Religious kept their regular order, too. You had to spend two Regular orders to nominate a new LT, and if you didn't nominate a new LT you'd still be in LoL the next turn, too. So if you didn't have any Irregulars and/or Religious troops, you didn't have a turn at all!

You forgot to mention that it was madnatory to spend orders on CC if you were engaged, so if you were in LoL and had a model in CC you couldn't even nominate a new LT...

    But yes, I wholeheartedly agree!

They absolutely should be, they have their place, but they also cost a lot less than guns with range for a good reason.

Like, a warband with a chain rifle is good for when your opponent has hidden all their stuff in full cover, you can't bring your heavy weapons to bear. But at the same time, unless you have those heavy weapons and the firelanes to use them, they probably won't do that, because both players can just run around chain rifle, shotgunning and CCing stuff.

I love CC, I absolutely rate it and DTWs, and shotguns. But I still feel like when people say "I'm losing my HMGs and stuff to chain rifle piece trades" I'm often wondering how dense the terrain is that they're playing on, because that should be very difficult to do. Doable! But very difficult.

As regards to Tunguska; I think Tunguska are fine. Good even! They just don't play like most people expect from Nomads or in fact from most factions.

Tunguska cannot really do piece trading well at all. A lot of their stuff is not that cheap, very effective in a straight fight, and quite squishy to a piece-trade warband or whatever. So you have to mitigate that slightly with area denial and the few troops they have that can deal with a template kill-swap, while also deploying to ARO aggressively.

I took them to a tournament a couple of months back and really found that they did a lot really well though. These forums would have you believe hacking sucks, which I don't think is true at all and Tunguska absolutely rules at hacking. They are one of two Sectorals in the game that can take a five man link with ODD in it, and that link is very flexible and capable. Perseus, a Grenzer Sniper, Grenzer Spitfire, Securitate LT and then a Securitate that floats your boat (repeater, second rifle, paramedic specialist) works really well as a hugely flexible link with loads of options, ARO strength, a point man par excellence... then you've got Spektrs, Krizas, ZondNautica, Hecklers... all of these are really good at operating by themselves and supporting/being supported by the link. Raoul is one of the deadliest AD troops in the game, Mary Problems is really, really good, Puppetactica are way stronger than I've been able to translate into a board presence yet but they seriously feel like something extremely special, all of the REMs that Tunguska can really run hot... Hollow Men... I mean Hollow Men are just awesomely good and let nobody tell you otherwise. They're one of the most efficient HI links in the game and so fast, flexible, great in a gunfight, durable, they've almost got it all and for a very low price.

Seriously I think Tunguska is in a strong position, it just requires you to play differently from, like, the rest of the Nomad faction. Which is good! If it played the same that'd be boooooring. It's doing its own thing, feels very Nomad-y (i.e weird) but also is definitely not Bakunin, Corregidor or Vanilla.

A 4-4 chain rifle covers up to 2" into your opponent's deployment zone if it starts at the middle line (14" threat). starting one move out from the middle line and you're covering over half your opponent's deployment zone (say, starting from the Armory door). If it is "very difficult" to move into a building on the center line, you are playing on some VERY European tables. That makes it so that CC, pistols, shotguns and small template DTWs as even harder than "very difficult" to utilize and all of those weapons/skills cost many more points than a chain rifle.

As a side note: do you play with building interiors?
