Nah, that one is more like "Nomads are the favoured sons" than "Aleph gets shafted". But who wants to be them? Red goes poorly with our cybereyes, thank you.
The constant whinging in this entire forum over minor and inconsequential shite is pretty aggravating overall tbh.
Well, the samekh in army also has no special rules, like remote presence, so maybe wait until that gets fixed before we light torches.
True, but one can argue about that cost for the sake of consistency. Even getting a short note from designers, like "yes, we've decided to scale the cost of Wildcard linking in line with the power/number of the fireteams it can join" would solve the issue. Right now we don't know if this is intentional or a bug. But as we've said yesterday, we need to wait a few days for the bugs to get ironed out. Nothing to shake pitchforks and torches about.
I don't need CB to explain everything they decide to me. They make game, I like game, I play game. If they decide that Wildcats link like this and Yadus link like this then fine, they playtested it, they balanced it, that's what we get and let's have discussions based around that rather than "ooh I wish this, what if this, that is 1pt too expensive etc." I don't mind a bit of that, I've done it myself on occasion, speculation and preferred solutions are fine for occasional talk, but when all the forum seems to be is endless threads about how Shang Ji should be MOV 6-2 and Operations should have smoke it's really fucking tiresome. Heaven forbid someone go into the YJ or PanO or whatever forum for actual current, up to date, being discussed and developed, tactical advice. And how do people know Operations need smoke or Arjuna's are overcosted anyway? They got released yesterday! You haven't even played them!
PanO tactics threads are quite lengthy and up to date. Mind to mention something which you find exactly "outdated" ?
If the profiles are under "formula" then yes, you might be able to say if unit X does have some "artificial" points or some (usually easy to spot) "bloat".
To be fair the problem is mostly people who have no clue what they are talking about jumping on a bandwagon. There are legit headscratchers, next to typos, confirmed mistakes and things people decide to call bullshit on because they couldn't be bothered to try understand it. Then there are the flatearthers who lack the imagination to accept there is a formula that is simply pretty complex, not applied retroactively outside of big updates and as a result exists in several iterations at once, which really doesn't help. Can't blame you for getting annoyed, who knows what is real anymore with things in limbo right now. Except for the pretty easy to spot bigger picture - in which Vedic has Tunguska's number. OSS is in a lot better place than TJC in terms of gameplay.
It's not what we need, it's just that it's nice to know some underlying mechanics. Hell, even speculating about them is fun. I thought they're a bit expensive, but then I've checked other MIs. Even cursory comparison shows, that they aren't overcosted. And I'm really curious how will they play.
Or by comparison to similar units... If you compare them to the tohaa preceptors, they do look a little pricey. Submachine + Smoke Grenades vs Spitfire + D-Charges + Mimitism + Specialist Operative (+14 pts) So Simbio armour is 2 points less than +1 BS/+1 WIP/+3 ARM It's not that the unit necessarily /is/ overcosted. But a 40 point 1 wound model is very fragile, and given that it's aleph really would benefit from at least dogged.
It seemed like people were surprised by the renders for the TAK component of Beyond Coldfront, so here's the ALEPH half: Apsara with SMG, Rudras with Multi Rifle, Yadu Officer Shakti.
That's true, it's something I've noted in the "first impressions" thread. We've got a trio of new, light lhosts in form of Danavas, Arjunas and Shukras. I think they're priced well, but one will have to remember they're not as durable. Though remembering that other factions are full of such units helps to put things into perspective. Arjuna's role seems to be a speed bump with additional Specialist capability. I'll probably won't bother with a Spitfire - we have no shortage of more capable shooters - but the cheaper loadouts look very useful. People were surprised? These pics were in circulation for a month or two now. I wonder if Rudra will come only with a Multi, or other options as well. Though they might simply get a Gunbot box later on with two other loadouts. And every time I look at Shakti I'm like "damn, another shooter with a knife...
I might have misread the intention but it seemed like there was surprise. The pics might be in circulation for awhile but there's no guarantee someone has come across them--hence why I'm starting to try to have a 'database' of recent ones that I can link to when people ask. I'm thinking Gunbot box later.
Yup, and the bots themselves are great speed bumps, I'm just concerned over the durability of the main guy. I used the spitfire as the example purely because it was easiest to find the points changes from smg I think i'll try the shock marksman rifle - good enough to cross the tabel against basic troopers, but no SWC cost to keep them cheap
Looking back at the Rudras, I'm wondering if the chin-mounts from the new Rebots will be interchangeable.
