You're right, it definitely should be a more risky option. Giving opponent no chance to defend himself is no fun at all.
Since i suggested him being hackable, what would you think of an impersonator killer hacker ? That would give him a more tech vibe, while giving him some kind of vulnerability, especially since as an impersonator, he is supposed to go into enemy zone and thus would have to be careful of the repeater network. That could be something like: MA3 / basic IMP / Dogged Killer hacking device / SMG / Nanopulser / smoke or nimbus grenade / Pistol / EM CCW (or DT CCW) (or why not D-Charges ? - may be a problem with some objectives through) Less deadly for the standard folks, a big threat to hackers and technical devices
It might be too powerful against different range of targets, but I like this idea. Remember, people are concerned about KHD's shutting down entire hacking game already. Impersonating KHDs could be a nightmare to some.
The Nomads would scream bloody murder, since they would risk losing their comfy Interventor Lt before their first turn... Onyx would be forced to default to FO Nexus Lt, losing that Lt order to buff the remotes... I like it :p specially if the KHD is a profile among several, instead of a general option... So... are those dakinis on the table because you have a hidden deployment hacker, or because the IMP marker is a KHD? XD
It's already possible (even if unlikely) with a KHD camo/infiltrated like Naga or Dasyus, impersonnation won't bring much more
Yes it would. With the ZoC the KHD could very well be either within a Nomad's repeater range, or either in direct range of the Interventor! The Nomad's player would need to place the Interventor in the back... and even so, with the first short order the impersonator could reach range to hack the interventor to death! Granted it would be a suicide mission, and changing a 30 some points troop for a 25 or so... but generating lol in the first enemy turn is too big. Giving deployable repeaters, or a repeater, to an impersonator would give even more OPness to this! Also, remember that Fiday and Speculos deploy just outside of the enemy's deployment zone free. They can roll WP (something Aleph's minimun is 13, with the exception of Ajax's 12) to deploy INSIDE of the enemy's deployment zone!
I don't know about your Nomad players, but my opponents tend to regularly bring the famed Moran Repeater, meaning Nagas and Dasyus can start the game in range of any Interventors in the back.
Yes, but it's not an autoinclude... And besides, it's a suicide mission for the Naga, who will eat too many Hacking AROs to survive. Being able to position oneself in the back where there are no repeaters but still an enemy hacker... And there are several other factions with hacking Lts that do relay in them being in the back only, or risk them little. I struggle to see any Asura Hacker + on the table nowadays, for example, while I have used her as Lt a few months ago (and I confess I was the only one doing it).
That's a problem by the access to an Impersonator, nothing to do with having KHD. It's easy for Nomads to add a repeater nearby (as is for other factions), in fact, I would argue it is much easier than covering against a normal Impersonator attacks. Yes, but thats because she is too expensive and now even less good. I also use her every now and then but just because I love the idea, so far she's never really been a true asset.
That's why i thought of a KHD impersonator, i see it as both a "tech style" feature and an intended vulnerability to compensate for a nwi or dogged impersonator.
Well, what a Naga hacker fears most from the Moran is not the repeater, but the koalas... it's a one shot action, a little too expensive. An Impesonator REM with KHD with dogged might be good, however.
I'll jump in the Vedic wishlisting bandwagon with some things I'd love to see in this sectorial army, although most of them have already been discussed here (I didn't realize this post was here 'till just now, my bad ) More weapon options for the Asura. we need our 'goddess of war' to be able to dish out the pain. Also give more weapon choices to the Lt Asura to have a viable aggressive liutenant. Core/haris fireteam for the dakini, either mixed with a deva/danavas or on their own, but I guess having some Aleph aspect controlling them is better 'fluff-wise'. More posthumans. Maybe some AD bodies (the G:Jumper rule already supports that kind of deployment) and a Lt option a.k.a. poor man's G:Mnemonica. Increased Naga AVA. Because there's no such thing like 'too many Nagas' :tearsofjoy: Maybe include some chain of command option to help us field aggresive Lts like the Marut or Asura? Not really much of a complaint here, I tend either not to use aggresive liutenants, or use them without a chain of command backup (and often than not fail miserably due to my bad rolls :tearsofjoy:) A new Deva option could take care of that role. So far I don't think there's anything more I could ask for Vedic. I won't even bring the 'smoke topic' because recently I've been using PanO, so I've learnt to live without the smoke combo.
I think that a more of a focus on remotes as well as the upgunning/ Rework of several core profiles should occur when the Vedic Sectorial is written. I find the asura to be good as a distraction but not much else, More AVA for Nagas and Dasyus is always a good thing in my opinion. Also, I was bored so i roughed out a stat block and gear list for a HI/Light Tag remote. This is just what i think the remote should be able to do so any comments are welcome. Agni Heavy Rebot REM, Regualr, Hackable Mov.....CC .....BS.......PH.......WiP....ARM.....BTS......S .......Sil ....AVA 4-2........8........11........10.........13.........6.........3.........3 ........5.........1 (2 for Sectorial) Equipment: Repeater, MSV L2 Special Skills: G: remote Presence, Multi-Terrian CC weapons Electric Pulse BS weapons x2 Nanopulsers Feuerbach 1.5 SWC 63pts Multi-HMG 1.5 SWC 60pts x2 Light Rocket Lancher 1 SWC 57pts Points are just rough guesses(and probably Over costed) and the main aim of the remote is to bring more heavy fire power for a non SP list. [EDIT]: Changed the formatting to make it easier to read
Hm... I don't think that kind of profile would be suitable for a HI or light tag, being that its CC and BS skills are far worse than those already available (for example, a Posthuman MK4 already has a heavy rocket launcher or hmg profiles, with BS 13 and far better stats than those). I'd increase it to Mov 4-4 (in line with the rest of the army, being that most of Aleph's REMs move faster), BS 14, CC 12 and increase its defenses to ARM 4 and BTS 4. That way it can be an interesting Also, a MSV lv1 is something not in style with "high tech army". I'd either increase it to MSV lv2 or remove it all together, and give it mimetism, which most of Aleph's REMs have. Other than that, I guess it would be a good heavy hitter for Aleph, and even scarier paired with a hacker to support it
BS14 on a REM type is a no go - it would effectively equal BS17 + shock damage with Assisted Fire program. The best we can have is a BS12 (equivalent to Garuda) CC12 is not really relevant since it's only CC weapon does not use CC. I would probably give it climbing plus to be consistent with zayin, and either MSV-2 or Mimetism/ODD as boquepasha said. Such a profile would be more around 55-60 pts if we compare it to overdrons.
Wrong, you can attack without a CC weapon, but incurring a penalty of -1 or -2 to damage (so you could choose between IMM2 autorroll 7, or punch in the face at full CC value, but doing less damage)
It's true that technicaly you can use CC without any weapon. But, realisticaly, you will never send that thing to melee. ANd on the opposite, if something reaches it, you can bet it is so competent that you will be better with your electric pulse than your punny CC12, either because MA will reduce your cc, or he will have CC >20 and will increase his rolls. Or both
I think the point is that that atrocity has Electric Pulse, which doesn't roll for CC, it just gets an automatic 7
I would be ok with Vedic getting some sort of assassin, but I really, *really* don't like the idea of giving it Impersonation. I hate that skill with a passion, as that marker state is completely bonkers. It simply allows too much freedom of movement. I also really like the idea of a HI-like REM, but yeah. Gonna need to limit it to BS13 at most because assisted fire is a thing. Vedic will also want more repeater coverage, but the HI REM is the wrong place to look at. Too much in a single model. But I wouldn't be opposed to something like a repeater Garuda or Dakini for example. I also wonder what sort of Fireteam we are going to get access to. Kinda like the idea of Core + Haris, as Enamotarchos is very... greek. But most of all: I want Vedic released. Because its been "probably in the next 6 months" for the last 3 years, and thats the sectorial that actually got me into the game.
Repeater garuda would allows for many things, like, well, assisted fire on garuda to begin with, but also several fun things to do ... white noise being the most obvious :) Something like that. Melee is very order expensive and unreliable. So if one is relying on melee, it is either ultra situationnal (for example i once sent a yudbot vs a cutter TAG - my opponent went past it ignoring it, so it was in his backside) or ultra competent. And if he is competent, better rely on an automatic roll inducing the fearsome IMM2 than a puny CC that does little to no damage, because it won't save you. That's why i consider Asura's CC18 and AP CCW as pure bloat: she will still be better shooting than cc-ing, and that won't save her from any competent fighter - and that CC18 didn't came at no price. At best it gives her decent chances vs a non cc-specialist who just try to obstruct her - and in that situation, a shock or DA CCW would have been better.
