Worth mentioning that the whole range of discontinued items is not a few hundred. Considering all the aleph units, tikbalang, akalis in O:I, REMs are sticking around, it's not too much if you want to take the plunge now.
honestly that just makes me think "WTF!" more. They save a handful of SKUs with this, particularly if you discount the old miniatures that are pre N3 like the montessa blister. Instead of being smart and clever with packaging and design they are sodcanning factions. And it will continue, its not just pano, Id be looking worryingly at QK, CJC and Tohaa
Another "Tohaa are getting shelved" thing? Let's calm down a bit with the speculation mate. Judging by Sectorials (which is what is getting put on ice) Tohaa seems a bit unlikely considering they are leading the charts, when splitting the Factions. Can someone explain to me how people went and looked at the ITS numbers and decided to bitch and moan about Tohaa being the least played Faction instead of the most played one? Ignoring the new Factions with insufficient Data (JSA looks to me like they are about to beat Tohaa in popularity) and NA2 who won't be iced since they barely require any SKUs. There are a few candidates. Shas are out, as they are getting a redesign, Tohaa are definitely out, being the most played Vanilla Faction. Caledonia and USA seems unlikely given Ariadna just put a Sectorial on hold, same for PanO which is about to do so. YJ is pretty much guaranteed to be out as well. That leaves Nomads, CA and Haqq. For Nomads that would be Bakunin, but I'm pretty sure those sell well, despite their just okayish ITS numbers. Corregidor has way to high numbers to be a realistic candidate. Nomads also already got their new Sectorial. For the other two it happened before the new one hits. QK for Haqq seems likely, especially since they are about to get a new Odalisque, something that seems weirdly consistent compared to the Chasseur parting present. CA is a bit tricky to say, Nomads are getting an exception and Morats are getting more than just a few goodbye presents. Shas are confirmed to be redesigned and Onyx should seems to be healthy numbers wise (and just won the Interplanetario). So if I had to make an educated guess I'd predict QK will be put on hold early next year when Ramah arrives, and that will be it (for now).
Well, I'm another ASA player that likes this move (and from what I see I'm far from being the only one). The only people affected negatively by this are those that got into the sectorial very recently and haven't bought too many of its units yet - in which case they aren't highly invested in it yet and don't lose much. And given the amount of discontinued SKUs they'll be able to get them before the stock runs out. They've just been given a heads up, after all, and the production won't stop for another two months. From my PoV there's no good reason for people to get so worked up over this.
its not just players, its the number of people purchasing minis from those lines, Tohaa are done, and have been for over a year now. shrug, I could see it happening to make way for a triumvirate NA2 list
But yeah, Tohaa are mostly safe, I think @Teslarod's post plus the fact they're actually meant to get stuff next year as evidence. I also think Corrigedor are pretty safe too based on similar evidence: popular above, their stuff is mostly new and almost all updated anyway.
Do we really think that if the Tikbalang wasn't its own product rather than another bungled release that it would still be kept?
While I totally get the need to reduce SKUs to make room for new things and I honestly can't think of a viable alternative to their current course, I do kind of wonder what this situation looks like 1-2 years from now. When I play against someone with an army that they simply 'cant get anymore' I wonder if that'll turn people off or not. I had literally bought my first (and last) MRRF mini 2 days before they announced they were discontinued. I wasn't really that upset because as much as I liked a few of the MRRF minis they weren't really that compelling to me on the table and I was more hoping to just get the ones I liked and wait until they were updated. Since that update was postponed indefinitely I don't really feel like I'm missing out on much (other than those sweet, sweet loup garou models which are already reaching Icestorm-exclusive CSU levels of impossible to find) and CB was kind of doing me a favor by telling me not to get more invested with false hopes. SAA feels different to me, but maybe that's my ownership bias. I guess that previous removals/replacements of older models/sectorials felt more obsolete? I'm not sure what the 'appropriate' lifespan of a miniature should be but it definitely feels like 1-2 years is too short to me.
I think you're onto something. It's also worth noting that the two Akalis, Sikh blisters weren't listed--wouldn't be surprised to see them shoveled off somewhere.
it is not like CB cant get back to shock army at later point, to be honest, I never find them much fun to play as, but I did like the minis especially the two TAGs and the regulars. lol i guess tohaa is next on the chopping block
And then the tyranids Morats ate all the Tohaa. The End. Alternatively, what's the Infinity version of "lost to the warp"? I assume its "visited a nomad pleasure barge"
No little dude, you should buy into Bakunin. And/Or USAriadna. Get the Freaks and Hillbillies out of mah gamez! C'mon CB, how long do we need to wait for the reach around? When do we get to see the new and improved Sectorial list. The one where Rao and Kirpal are useful.
