Its about SKU and NA2 changes nothing, beyond that Moving things to NA2 is not a solution fluff needs to be considered too, not sure what is the comment about the knights.

Too many SKU, it was crystal clear from the start, SAA simply gets a pause until it gets revisited.

I would argue most MRRF players are overjoyed with the tweaks they received.

I know folks who specifically expanded into FRRM based on the tweaks alone.

ASA always was in delayed projects box. Guess I have to hurry. Now that I am not impressed with Varuna sectorial...

I'm just shocked that the most fun, interesting and arguably strongest of the PanO sectorials is being mothballed whilst the bland-as-anything order horde pointlessness that is NCA gets to continue struggling along.

Well, not that shocked, obviously. Who at CB would make the brave call to discontinue the Bolts?

I know it sucks for some but hey, CB lets you play every discontinued sectorial 'till now, it even bumps and makes a little overhaul to tight proof SAA for the foreseeable future of the game!

Heck, if I could I would ask for the same treatment for JCC&JCB as JCT will anyway steal the stage for the upcoming months. Even ASS will gain perks from such a treatment as I don't believe the greeks will get enough love down the pipe due to the launch of the Vedic. Moreover I will start MO in the upcoming weeks thanks to the 300pts box deal, and guess what, on these premises I will salute discontinuation for them too

Okay maybe I get too far now, you get what I mean though.

If you're actually serious about making your game somewhat balanced, you take things out of the cycle.

Sure, most tabletop companies are keeping everything around (for the most part). But how do you want this game to look 10 years from now, 2 books down the line?
Gotta admit there is already a pretty overwhelming flood of information that has repelled new Players. Things are slowly getting out of hand. Each season of ITS is more complex, Vanilla Factions get a slow trickle of generally available Mercs and that is just on top of this year's 8 new Sectorials to get accustomed to. Information and important bits are spread across army builder, PDFs, Wiki, Forum FAQ threads and who knows what else.
Ladies and gentlemen things are getting out of hand, I like playing Infinity and would like to continue doing so, but at this point it is mutually exclusive with a secondary time consuming tabletop or PC game if I want to seriously pursue this hobby.

If someone has a sustainable concept how to keep everything transparent for especially new players, with double the content we have today, I'd like to hear it. A step by step transition is already quite the process.
    1. Pick a Faction or maybe a Sectorial for flavour and play some demo games.
    2. Read through N3.
    3. Work your way up to Direct Action games.
    4. Read through HSN3.
    5. Figure out Advanced rules like Hacking and start playing Missions that involve pushing buttons.
    6. Get someone to introduce you into ITS.
    7. Play a lot more games with a massive set of Missions to learn.
    8. Now you have the essentials down and can start exploring Factions for real.
    9. Figure out the game and keep track of new releases.
Back at the beginning it took me a couple months to get to Step 6 and we spent days at a time playing, reading and learning new stuff.

It's a good thing Factions are getting an overhaul and benched. MRRF and SAA are the least played Sectorials of their Factions and I expect more to follow. QK, Morats, there are a few candidates that could follow depending on their relative sales. These are older Factions that are getting a few updates right now, which is similar to what has been happening here.

I wouldn't call-it a win-win per say. I mean, it does hurt the people who want to buy into the sectorial further down road.

That's why it's being discontinued. It'll step too much on the toes of "the new hotness" that is Varuna...one would think that maybe they could have reversed it and made it so Varuna wasn't going to step on the toes of SAA.

So, technically speaking, a whole bunch of reasons have been given for this being no big thang. The sectorial will still be active, if you play Acon you have most of the models, etc. But I will say that I've seen this kind of stuff before, and it does definitely turn away new players. When people go looking through the rules, listbuilding and searching for images of models, and then find that a whole bunch of the things they want have been discontinued, that definitely kills motivation to start playing. Especially if those particular models are part of the reason they were attracted to the game (which, in a game like Infinity with absolutely gorgeous sculpts, is often the case). This kind of stuff is particularly likely to happen with Acontecimento, as it has a lot of popular, up-to-date sculpts that were released relatively recently. Even players considering the faction right now will probably be put off, as a lot of people can't afford to just buy the whole range before October.

I can see the logic behind the decision, but I can also see how this is a road CB should be very careful when walking down. Even as someone who doesn't play PanO in the least, I find it a little baffling that so many new sculpts would be canned, when there's such a number of outdated models in the faction that new players are unlikely to be interested in. I feel like some level of selectiveness would be smart when doing this, rather than demolishing entire ranges with seemingly no distinction for how old their models are. It definitely makes me feel a bit ansty about building up armies bit by bit if even sectorials that have gotten recent sculpts can be discontinued.

So! it's true then and I thought someone was playing joke on Panoville. Well, I'm glad it's not NCA at least not yet.

Tinfoil hat time. Except it is not being discontinued, so I guess it is still stepping on the toes of 'the new hotness'. Maybe, just maybe, Corvus Belli is doing it if for the reasons they stated of controlling stock. CB isn't a giant corporation that can strongarm there way into any store they want. They need to convince hobby shops to take on their line, and a line that is too big, hurts the marketability of the whole line. SKU reduction is a necessary evil to maintain product viability. I have no doubt that the decision makers at Corvus Belli has put more thought into this than some armchair forum CEO's.

I think this is true. It is a risky business decision to be sure, and should be approached carefully. I am a little surprised SAA is getting sidelined, but in hindsight I shouldn't be.

Now this, I can agree with. It would have made far more sense, to my mind, to use those release slots that went to Acon. resculpts to finish up NCA and MO, while leaving a reboot of the Acon. line for when it's brought back into production down the road. That's what they did with MRRF, after all.

It makes me think that the decision to mothball Acon. was made recently, at least relative to the decision to resculpt and release Acon. models.

If we get a resculpted Montesa to replace the one in the starter, that's a win, or if they break the Montesa spitfire out of the starter box and start selling it as a single . I'd like a resculpted Guarda too, but it has smoke, well the auxbot does, so fat chance of this, eh? Even though it is available in Vanilla as well. I don't really like the new ASA starter, so I did not buy it. I never got around to getting a Dragoe. Meh. I'm set for everything else. As long as the sectorial remains playable, I'll be fine, especially if CB *fixes* Kirpal. The Bagh-Mari going OOP is a loss. I guess CB will expect players to proxy the kamau for them, and the Varuna fusiliers for Acont regulars. >:|

I've decided to skip the holiday rush and start disliking Varuna now. Svalarheim always seemed more interesting to me.

CB would do well to perhaps suggest potential proxies for minis that go OOP ... like using one of the Hospitaller knights as a Montesa.

Oh man, I just realized I started Infinity with the OG SAA starter and branched out into my second faction with the (newly released at the time) FRRM starter!

Maybe I should buy a Tohaa starter so they get discontinued too...
