The only effects that will be palpable in our meta are: 1. My shock army is likely to stay as one of two armies across both cities that play together. 2. When someone says, "Cool. What are those models?" I'll respond, "Shock army used to be available. They're now OOP, and a bit of a collectors item pending a re design that has no firm date. Cool, eh?" and then someone will be shot in the face by my Bagh Mari sniper.
They may also still be floating around in stock on eBay and in various shops, some long OOP stuff still is, after all.
Production stops in November, but there will likely still be stock in distribution chains and store inventories for a bit.
Sorry man I should have been more obvious that I was intending to be sarcastic. Your response is what I'd expect from a person in a rational space :)
You should definitely get Singh, it's an awesome model. I dunno how successful their Army Packs are when they're just repacks of existing models. Biggest problem I can see is that it really cuts down on the "hey, that's a cool-looking model and it's only $10, I'll get it!" impulse purchases. Yeah, Aristeia! is a tiny game, even though I think it has more expansions than Carcassonne now... Very much this. It's why I've actually been a bit worried by CB ever since they stopped making their 15mm historical range. Serisouly, who do we need to bribe and/or threaten to get Comic Sans back?
At the current rate of releases that would take about five years, assuming there are no more Carcassonne expansions. https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/220454/every-carcassonne-expansion-explained/page/1?
Christ on a cructh! That's right, there are an absurd number of "here's a new tile or three" expansions...
Yeah, they should be more reliable sources of info. Still, people can't blame their own stupidity on others.
Aristeia was a terrible idea for a shitty genre that explored an aspect of Infinity fluff hardly anybody cared about. Against all odds, it produced a very good game. Not from AliX specifically, but Chinese recasters of 40k/30k are very much a thing. Funnily enough, they tend to have better quality control than actual Forgeworld.
Preach. Wouldn't know. See above about "hardly cared about". Which is why "actual" Forge World ceased using the casters in China. Molds were deteriorating faster than they should have been...of course nobody doing the casting knew why. wink wink nudge nudge
The Army Packs haven't had repacks of existing models. We've gotten two of them so far, JSA and USARF. The 300 point army boxes are the ones with repacks--and they seem to do well when it's not just a hodgepodge of crap like Corregidor and Steel Phalanx were. Onyx and Tohaa were regularly in/out of stock and I saw people getting into the game with those. I didn't see that with CJC or Steel Phalanx. Speaking for myself, I can only hope that Corvus Belli steps back and realizes that maybe they need to retire the idea of "every army needs to have the 6 model starter sets". Ariadna and Shock Army would greatly benefit from having Army Packs as their go-to starter product rather than the little 6 model starter sets. You know what else cuts down on that? Product availability. I have one shop within driving distance stocking Infinity. Their selection is adequate at best. I'm not going there just to browse--I'm calling ahead to check and see if they have specific things, going out and getting them and then headed home.
