Especially since I just re-read MZWilliamson's When Diplomacy Fails..., where there are all sorts of evil things in the shotgun. Recon rounds, basic frag, some unholy street-sweeper of a bore full of hunting rifle rounds, cratering charges, pocket thermobaric, bird bomb, a monster tungsten AP slug... And the piece de resistance, when the ammo cassette goes empty, the psycho demo tech packed the space between the chambers with an improvised claymore mine.
Red Fury is definitely more a Squad Automatic Weapon by modern standards, so the RPK allusion works well. Ariadna's very similar Molotok is maybe closer to the Minimi though, which is kinda amusing when you consider the Molotok is a gun made by descendants of Russians... and only carried by people descended from France, America, and Scotland so far The Spitfire, I guess, is more like the WW2 magazine fed "LMGs" and Auto rifles like the DP28, Bren, BAR, and FG42, for the closest sort of real life weapon. Has a bigger round than the "modern" LMG, but is as portable as an LMG and mag fed in most cases. Heavy Machine Gun... Eh, I guess someone decided to make a version of the .50 Beowulf using a .30-06 length cartridge. Oh hai, USAS-12 with Frag-12 rounds from Battlefield 3 and 4! Make it DAM15 EXP to replicate it in BF3 before they patched the game a few months after release :tongueout:
Well, considering the range a DAM15 sniper rifle used to have back in N2, I figured that the MSR and HMG were some approximation of .338 Lapua (~8.5mm). Mk12 is .375H&H or .375 Ruger (9.5mm), which packs about as much energy as .338 Lapua, just not as far (.338cal bullets are more aerodynamic than .375cal).
That makes a bit more sense. Nasty bang-bang but not considerably bigger. May vary from faction to faction of course but it's all abstract in game.
MORRIGAN Launcher Following the development of nanoshrapenel warheads and the deployment of light but hard hitting missile systems throughout the Sphere, various special and black ops teams requested an alternative weapon system with flexible warhead options designed for lethality without physical trace and dominance in an infowar world. The response was met by a small Tunguskan/Caliphate firm who produced the MORRIGAN system, a select fire missile launcher loaded with Viral and EMP payloads. No military would outwardly equip their forces with such a cruel weapon in clear breach of O-12 law, but the small corporation somehow remains open nonetheless... Both Direct Fire Modes; Ranges: 0-24 +0, 24-40 +3, 40-64 +0 Burst: 1 Damage: 14 Pacification Mode: Viral Ammunition, Circular Impact Template Redaction Mode: EM/2 Ammunition, Circular Impact Template And then have a Guided Mode too. Maybe. I'm unsure as to whether this is a Smart Missile Launcher or a regular one thus far... Basically a light guided/direct missile launcher with slightly more unpleasant and exotic ammo types used by your wealthy and unpleasant types (Tunguska, Hassassins, Hexahedron etc). I just think it'd be cool to fire a Guided Pacification Missile into a link team targeted by a Sat-Lock from a Sensorbot backed up by an EVO Hacker. Super sexy cyberpunk stuff!
I mean, we already dedicated half of this thread to combining different launchers and ammo, might as well start throwing auxbots into the mix!

I always figured that the "Dead" state was more like "too hurt to get back into combat, regardless of big doses of No-Shok and field dressings" most of the time. I mean, even in WW1, only about 1 in 10 troopers was actually killed (but more than 1 in 2 was wounded!), and modern 20thC weapons are more likely to wound than kill outright (though that may be changing, what with the greater number of 'colonial' conflicts as opposed to major powers wars. Somalis and Talibanis don't stop until they are dead, while major power soldiers will lay down after getting hit). But we call that state "Dead" because we needed to call it something, and that's the most easily-translatable word to use. "Hors d'Combat" doesn't translate, after all!
Oooh this is a cool thread, I see one idea already here that i like is the adhesive mines, but besides that i have some ideas. 1. suppressors on weapons, maybe not make them silent completely, but give some stealthy benefit 2. some sort of laser weapon, we are nearing the tech for lethal lasers that could be sorta man portable (think like spartan laser from Halo), make it damage 16 ap+fire, burst 1 and make it lose strength for each 8 inch increment. so 0-8" dam 16 +0, 8-16 dam 15 +3, 16-24 dam 14 +3, 24-32 dam 13 +0, 32-48 dam 12 -3, 48-56 dam 11 -6. and thats max range. put in on HI only, and it would be thematic and cool. 3. what about a rock, just a rock, but its silent and targetless like smoke. you pick point, declare, check range, roll, if successful then you check blast template and anyone underneath takes a wip -3 or is forced to change facing towards the center point. it would be a cool distraction mechanic.
Automated deployed platform. Deployed like AI Beacons, can support a variety of weapons, BS range between 9 and 11, ARM 2, BTS 3, STR 1 Type REM just to be buffed with hacking programs. I see them both as "attached" to a Profile (i.e. "Field Overseer + 2 Auto-Platform") or as a new type of "Controller" just to field them.
If I really was trying to make a Medic Auxbot (Bipandra could use one) I'd go with something like this: MOV 4-4 | PH 12 | WIP 13 | ARM 2 | BTS 3 | STR 1 | S 4 Baggage, Medikit G:Synchronized, Doctor ADHL, Flash Pulse Basically an repurposed and upgraded Mulebot.
