I'm a fairly inexperienced TAK player with only a dozen or so games played with the faction, but I've added the Kuryer with total reaction to my list several times to serve as something to guard my deployment zone, and, more often, Voronin's butt while he's cowering inside a dumpster at the back corner of my deployment zone. AP+Shock will ruin the day of Van Zant or Carlotta Kowalski, and it can potentially drop Duroc in a single volley. That's all pretty matchup/meta dependent, but what in Infinity isn't?

The minelayer ability of the Kuryer also gives you an increased threat area, which is nice, since you can cover a couple of corners without much effort. Does it cost too much? Probably. Are there better choices? Also probably, but those other choices all probably require more effort and planning. Will you be incredibly thankful for those few games when Van Zant or Kowalski or Duroc wander onto the board from your deployment edge and you immediately shoot them in the face with a lot of missiles and don't have to deal with them at all? I certainly did.

Why would your opponent do that though?
Why wouldn't they just deploy somewhere out of LOS and then smoke/stab it or shoot it with something that out ranges/outguns it?

No idea. Maybe I deployed smart enough and covered my deployment zone well enough so there isn't a safe place for them to deploy and they're feeling bloodthirsty and just full send it and hope I miss every die roll? We could create hypothetical situations involving Infinity for a million years. Even if you're not taking it to guard your DZ, total reaction is a reasonable deterrent to an attack run from most things, and, since you're playing TAK already, you've probably got at least a few forward observers that can get some mileage out of guided.

I fully admit that they're not optimized, or great, or, honestly, even good, but they're useful to have sometimes. Burst 3 Damage 14 AP templates can mess up a lot of stuff, even if their good range is only 16".

So I don't have access to the tak version in vanilla but I ran this list the other day.

    gS0HYXJpYWRuYQ1Bcm1vdXJlZCBjb3JlgSwCAQAFAYLrAQUAAoDwAQIAA4YwAQIABIT7AQQABYDrAQgAAgAJAYXuAQoAAoXuAQQAA4EBAQIABIEBAQIABYRuAZBVAAaDCQEDAAeBBwECAAiF8gABAAmA%2FAEFAA%3D%3D

It was purpose built to be a force multiplier for the excellent fo options and to do pull of a co-ordinated guided attack. 9 points and 1 swc is pretty easy to fit into a list without too much sacrifice and gives something like an SAS trooper a ranged option of they need to go into something.

What I ended up doing was hitting stuff with the chernobog knocking it unconscious then going it to get extra angles on stuff so I didn't get to use it to it's full potential but did allow me to do a co-ordinated order with the ukr as spearhead, bear pode and the two missile bots

I think to be really be successfull when using the fo option for guided strikes you need to a paratrooper option to potentially get the good angles where you don't have to take a face to face roll followed by camo to stack the suprise attack.

Ontop of it being a good force multiplier you get baggage for the dynamo to launch mines at things with an incredible range band

Has anyone been using these fellas? Any new opinions?

I’ve been finding them to be excellent and managed to kill several TAGs with the Uragan.

I agree with the above post, they make fantastic force multipliers and synergise seemlessly with the rest of the list.

Having a unit in TAK that you can bring back is truly life changing

    How do you do that?

Burst 3 Guided is certainly interesting, but on its own, over a relatively short range of the weapon, I wouldn't be placing my bet on it.
Especially given you need to have the TAG Targetted first.

Well, first you have to do the maths.

The Urugan deletes armour. It is template +Ap. An ARM8 Tag in cover goes from ARM 11 > ARM 4. Saving on 11s.

Once you’ve realised that.. it’s just a matter of winning the fight. For that you need modeifier (optimal range bands, supportware, targetted.. etc)

IAbove that though.. if it goes wrong, you ahould survive and you should have an engineer nearby. Which is really a nice thing in a faction like TAK, cos you don’t get alot of second draw prizes when things go wrong(outside of dogged)

Guided Attack has a Burst rate of 1, even if the weapon being used has an higher Burst Rate.

    Ah.
So, we're talking, like, BS 10 (11 for Kuryer, right?), range that's -3 over 16", Targetted for Guided at +6, and most* TAGs at Guided -6.
Meaning most cases you'll be hitting at 1 die at 7s (8s on a Kuryer), and against TAG doing FtF Dodge (well, at a value that ai't stellar either, but still).
From the side it looks to me like a very Order-expensive way of hitting that TAG... so I apparently fail to see something.

Unless you've managed to roll the bot within 16" of the TAG, where you will go for a single die on 13 /14, which is double the chance.

    * Exceptions (that I was able to find quickly) being:
    • Triphammer at 0
    • Shakush at 0 (whelp, that's odd...)
    • Chernobog at -3
    • Zeta at -8

I might not have been very clear. I did not use guided against thr TAGs. I simply used the Urugan, burst 3 in good range. I used smoke to help me get within good range. To improve my odds, i use WardriverEVO hacker or ForwardObserver to target the TAG to give me +3 to hit.

What I am saying is that the weapon (Urugan) is very powerful against high armour and the faction has the tools to get the troop within good range bands.

    Hope that makes sense?
