Officially confirmed - the monk and the ninja will both be in O-12. What do you think they'll bring to the table? I was hyped at first at the thought of the ninja, but, getting to know that he's a ranged unit, I'm not so sold on him anymore (mostly because he'll have to compete with a very strong Lynx and dirt-cheap Bounty Hunter sniper). Maybe his marksman rifle profile will be a specialist tho? Would be nice, I think he could have a place then The monk, on the other hand, might offer an interesting alternative to Varangians - monks have smoke, so they'd fill a smilar role, maybe being able to save a few points which could deffo come in handy What are your opinions on this?
There's a lack of grenades on this dossier, and I would approach this with some tiny bit of caution since this is the CodeOne info. The non-specific CCW might mean that he's not got exotic CCW, or that he has several profiles. That said, I do think the token board indicates that he's got Tactical Awareness...
In the render it can be seen that the Wandering Monk has an EXP CCW. Could be a typo, though. But I doubt O12 can save some points with a named Monk. Looking at the miniature I doubt he'll be less than 20 Points.
I'm already disappointed with Hypolitta, so not much expectations when it comes to overpriced character warbands here.
I wanted to hype about these new units, but damn, aren't they disappointing :c If their C1 profiles turn out to be exactly the same as their N3 profiles, than man, that's a bummer lol BS 11 ninja with MSR, costing roughly the same as Lynx? Yeaaahhhhh 20ish sth monk that does almost everything Varangians do, except slightly worse? Welp Although, to be honest, I do understand why they'd make these units rather... underwhelming - hiding powerful units behind preorder bonuses and exclusives doesn't really resonate well with people, so, if that's the case, I'm grateful for it!

So, having seen Liang Kai's profile, what does everyone think of him? Kinda weird that the Ninja is in C1 and not in N3, but not gonna complain about it (BS 11, gotta love it) For me Liang Kai competes with Varangians for roughly the same role, but does it slightly differently and for more points (or maybe he competes with Hippolyta?). Although he doesn't seem super appealing, I'll try to test him and see how it works out. What are your initial impressions?
Liang Kai is for me an auto-include, he's a maxi buffed up Varangian with no smokes for a good cost. Hippo will never the table again here... (specially after too much disappointment where basic varangians did the job way better each time)
I think Lang Kai will be good and fun, but he doesn't do what Hippolyta does. What I mean is that Hippolyta has decent ballistic score and a great weapon so she can kill things by shooting them, she also has Eclipse (I know you can't do the Epsilon trick with it) which can cover for all your other units moving up. Do I use her in CC much? No, but she does plenty other things than CC that are very helpful that Varangians and Lang Kai can't do.
Sure, but the problem is her cost, and in O-12 she competes with too much other good options for as much or less points. She's also drawing too much attention and too fragile against some factions.
Yes, she is very exspensive, and hard to use in a multiple group list. But if you are running limeted insertion she is really good because of her ability to move your units up. She is very fragile and hard to make her last past 1rst turn if you don't put her into suppresive fire.
