[WARCROW] The new fantasy universe by Corvus Belli

Discussion in 'News' started by Koni, Mar 25, 2022.

  1. Yes, but that doesn't exclude them from being test prints for weapons from the new game, because until not long ago this was a cc weapon:
    cc-weapon.jpg

But now (and I suspect coinciding with the development of the new game) they have been changed to these things.
    ridiculous-thing .jpg

That in a fantasy game they look great, but in a science fiction game they seem ridiculous to me.

    <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>

Not only that, the Romans adapted them and gave rise to the Gladius «Hispaniensis»:

I don't know if there was any particular design from Spain, but for many centuries the halberd was a symbol of authority for certain categories of officers.

For example, in the Tercios the halberd was the symbol of the Sargentos (which now would be equivalent to something intermediate between lieutenant and captain)

Gromoz is carrying the standard Nomad CCW, it’s been the same design since at least the Bandit sculpts, which are from several years ago.

In N3 and earlier a knife and a ccw were different equipment.

  3. Yes Bandits carry a CC Weapon with ammo effect (specifically AD) which were different than normal CC Weapons (no ammo effect). That now they want to give CC weapons without ammo the same shape as those with ammo, well I accept that it can't be related to the new game... but it still seems ridiculous to me.

    Edit and Add:
It's a shame that Corregidor doesn't have a budget to equip Wildcats with CC Weapons and only equip them with knives.

And here ends my off-topic in this thread.

Unfortunately there are no knifes anymore, I understand the decision, but it added that little extra background detail, for example Akalis has a knife, but they were proficient enouph with it it counted as CC weapon.

I mean, I do think Gromoz’s sword is a bit silly, and I’m going to evaluate the model once I have it to see if I can alter that part.

I just don’t think it was part of any sort of plan to practice making swords for the forthcoming fantasy game.

For what it's worth, since the beginning, CB has only differentiated Infinity CCW damage types through paint color.

I think it's far more likely to say that the fantasy themed skins for Aristeia! were much better practice than the Nomad machetes.

Honestly I don't remember if at all were Weapon Sprues that were just for Melee Implements, and I think that the more variety, as aptly said by others before, was in the Nomads Ones (with the Pseudo Falcata, the Bandit Machete, some weird Knives, some Moirae Long Blade and the weird "Kopesh Scytes" sometimes sported by some Morlocks, from N2 to N4). . .

The only other Faction to have shown so varied widespread variation in Melee Weapon TYPE (not design; Haqqislam and Yujing have a rather vast selection of Swords, ranging from "Meh. . ." to "Excellent") but in shape, size, positioning and suggestes combat styles. . .

Also some of the Miniatures of Knightly Orders of Panoceania are shown with just one of their "Claymores / Broadswords / El-Cid Zweinhanders" in hand, with no Rifle-Like weapon strapped on the back; those with rather large Tabards (especially the "Black Friar") could stand in a pinch for those. . .

I'm not suggesting that Infinity Miniatures will be "Just Ported" into War-Crow; only that if "Silhouettes Sizes" match could count as WYSIWYG good enough lookalike for the present moment. . .

The idea about the "Fantasy Cosplayer Skins" of Aristeia that was suggested is still quite smart and interesing though. . .

Forgot to add that I collected and tried to organize many Art Dossiers of Infinity from the earliest ages (I follow the Game from even before the N1 Inception Era); maybe a sort of "Collage Of Infinity Melee Weapons" could be interesting to have for a comparison how the Styles will evolve (both in Art and in Printed Miniature Formats). . .

As I said the Nomads and Combined Army Melee Tools (Morat Blades principally, although the newest Shaasvastii Blades are rather cool) are very interesting, but almost any faction have some very cool Melee Istrument. . .

Also the very talented Concept-Illustrator of Infinity, Roberto Zoreda, has made some rather fancy, but interesting "Duel Rapiers" when exploring the Character of CSU Casanova; those could be quite interesting to use as comparison for an hypothethical "Advanced Sophisticated Culture" of War Crow Gameworld. . .

    Personally I love Tohaa's Naginatas
    Wouldn't mind a Crow/Tengu-like faction armed with japanese-like weapons.

Crows would be a nice faction that I would be interested in. Hey CB would that be possible having an Avian Crow race?

Personally, as I have a defiance Gromoz, she is going to be a bandit and the sword is great then.

Now that we have established Infinity and A! has shown CB can do great designs in fantasy and steampunk weapons and models can we go back to the topic?

We can but only if you agree to a Faustian bargain whereby I get the game before anyone else, including the game developers. Also I get cake.

So… on the left we have what appears to be a warrior of some type. There’s possibly a dwarf with a warhammer next then some sort of caster and a rogue like figure in the background whilst a shadowy figure looms in from the right. Interesting. I will be waiting with baited breath to see if I’m right or not.

Also, if we’re asking for races based upon myth and legend I’ll ask for the black beast of Caerbannog to be in the game as a boss monster. (Extra points if you know this without googling it…)

    Left = Panoceanian Knight Hospitaller. . .

Left Down = Crouching Catgirl Daktari of Nomads of Bakunin. . .

Upper Center = Tohaa Diplomat (based on the weird Artichoke Haircut)

Low Center = The Valkyrye of Aristeia, as evidenced by the "Winged Helmet". . .

Extreme Right = A Morat Daturazi Warrior Monk, based on the rather large, muscular silhouette. . .

    . . . . .

Just joking, of course, but is fun to imagine based on shapes. . . . .

It's probably also worth pointing out that Fausto Gutierrez, one of CB's main sculptors, has done some fantastic fantasy miniatures under the Yedharo miniatures brand. I particularly like his Orcs.
