I didn't see anyone get knocked out in the two games I watched/played but this isn't too different to Defiance, when you're revived from Unconscious you get dealt a consequence that has a temporary penalty but also counts as a permanent -1 health. There's a chance to heal them between missions but getting 3-4 will see you going into later missions with only half your hit points. I think the priest also has an ability to revive allies with fewer downsides, like Rouhani in Defiance, but there's always the risk she goes down first.
Here is a recap of the things that turned on twitter with some hd pictures, I found a demo in google image, they made a demo stream in spanish (I think it's the 1st video) : -------------------------------------------- Evaluation of the demo: https://twitter.com/mcallus/status/1569056365640925185 -------------------------------------------- Demo and presentation in Spanish: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1585297360
If that -1 health is permanent, that would make more sense. Otherwise, I do not really see any downside to getting unconscious except losing one action spent by another player reviving you.
I do love gross meat monsters, but I’m looking forward to the wargame more than the dungeon crawl. A friend went to Gencon and tried the demo for me; they reported that it seemed alright, but the rules felt a bit under baked and there was a lot of people running between tables trying to clarify how things actually worked. Nothing that a few editorial passes couldn’t fix, but also Defiance had some pretty big issues with clarity of character and scenario rules. I’ll follow along, but as atated before, I’m a lot more interested in the future wargame plans.
Our Valerya player kept rolling badly on medicine checks and spent several missions at -4 health, definitely impactful without usually being crippling.
I'm not sure if I'm glad I played a demo at Gen Con, Fantasy isn't really my thing but the initiative clock and energy system are really neat, and the app allowed for a lot of variance in the demo scenario, so I'm a lot more tempted to back the Kickstarter now
Not to spoil any surprises for the kickstarter but could we possibly get a rough "all in" price ahead of time? Even if its vague i just want an idea of how much i should be saving. Also does anyone have any images of the aristeia 2 pack characters versus other games to see the difference and general detail?
If I remember right, the full pledge was 110 Euros plus taxes. Of course, it is for the base box, most stretch goals, but without expansions.
For information, there is the Spanish blog cargad, who made a review of his demo at the freak war and his feelings about the game. Eh? With an app? So you'll need a tablet to play? What OS would be supported? What version? For how long? App stores only? Will they abandon it as soon as it released just like Defiance?
"App Driven" games aren't exactly a new thing, technically older than tablets if you include the old VCR driven boardgames from the 90s. It also won't be the first CB game to require an app to play.
