Yeah, basically both her loadouts were folded into one.

Well even in American English it can mean "a small amount" but literally double would be more than that.

The problem is if you don't have MSV to leverage and they win that FtF roll they're safe for the turn. Or at least McMurrough is; other dogs can be killed by dedicated CC specialists in extremis.

If they're hiding in the smoke then they won't be doing their job though, so they've essentially countered themselves. You don't always have to kill the thing to counter it...

Ah, yes, Dog Warriors, those famous ARO troops that you can afford to just avoid and let live.

They spec-fire on 13s and move fast. If you're relying on mid-range Suppression Fire as a defense, on some boards that will only buy you an order or so before getting a Chain Rifle, Grenade or Dog to the face. I don't think the MSV is optional in this case; you really need to be able to at least plausibly threaten to kill the Dog for an Ariadna player to not use it. You can hurt the efficiency a bit, but I think you need a either a tailored list or to get really brave with a critical MSV attack piece to fully resist a Dog charge unless you're a Sectorial with access to one of the sillier Fireteams. At the moment I'm eyeing up the Aquila Guard for this job; he's one of the only 2W MSV carriers and can survive the odd attempt at a Chain Rifle trade, plus he's resistant to general Camo stupidity thanks to MSV3's idiotic defensive bonuses finally coming in handy with turn 1 Suppressive Fire being a thing, which will probably let him survive a turn of Dog-scaring.

This is from the PanO perspective though, and our LTs tend to be either rubbish or Joan so they are particularly tasty targets for tough Smoke-chucking juggernauts and we don't have the Viral weapons to exploit the Dog's big weakness. A Loup-Garou or Lasiq would be much more effective with the Suppression Fire strategy due to threatening a quick kill, and the home factions of those units have some fairly safe LTs so there's less incentive to take the risk of a Dog charge.

And that, was your *puts on sunglasses* mistake. [IMG]

But seriously though, at most you'll be against 4 dog warriors(in theory, assuming CHA still has ava3+McMurrough), which would be a third of the list you're up against, and PanO has enough MSV that the board layout will be the biggest enemy, plus you're going to be ignoring the mimitism - 3 most of the other Ariadna attack pieces use as a crutch. This discussion is going to keep coming back to the rock-paper-scissors analogy, and not having good odds over a few glass cannon units really isn't a big deal, especially when you might not even have to go up against the factions they're in.

Sharpen your rocks if you don't have scissors. Ariadna has had to do that throughout the TAG-enhanced ITS seasons, because the one sectorial with its own(merc) tag has(or rather had, at least until November...) probably the worst tag in the game. And that is still happening. Tags are getting better and better, and we're still waiting in the corner for Daddy RM100 to come back from the store. He said he was just going for cigarettes, but it's been like 15 years now...

Except if you leave them there they're going to jump out and kill a bunch of stuff on the active turn. They're not something you can just ignore.

So you can't rely on the same cheap unit to shut down alpha strikes, extend your hacking and get stones out of your horses hoof, and you may need to think about redundancies occasionally.

    Sharpen. Your. Rocks.

Dogs are glass cannons, everyone has access to weapons that can kill them, almost everyone has access to MSV to ignore the smoke, and a lucky few have access to their kryptonite viral weapons to murder them properly.

For curiosity, can you explain me how hack would help anyone against dogs?

I think the point was that it's an additional thing that cheap REMs do, even if it's not useful against this particular class of enemy.

Yup. The origin of the discussion(or this branch of it anyway) was around the versatile nature of the bots, how they were used in hacking and therefore had to be included in lists. The stones from horses hoofs was a reference to the oft repeated urban legend that Swiss army knives have a tool specifically for that purpose. That tool, (if it actually exists) was built to do one thing, and it wasn't to defend against werewolves...

You can spotlight as an ARO now, so anytime said Dog wanders near a repeater slap him with the targeted state.

Not really what the post meant, but important nonetheless.

Spotlight does not work against models with Immunity (Total).

It's a comms attack, so it should.

    Forward Observer doesn't.

Nah, dogs are braindead attack pieces since TI got updated. Players who crutch on them should learn to stop relying on them, and the game is worse off for that crutch existing. Let's make TAGs immune to Flash Pulses too, especially since they're so much more expensive than Dog-Warriors... we could go a lot of places with this. The point is that Flash Pulses are part of some (most) factions' defensive arsenal, and the balancing around dog-warriors being able to ignore them is poor. It's also fluff-breaking; why Dog-Warriors are immune to being painted with a targeting laser is a good question, and the answer will inevitably be stupid.
