I keep gravitating towards something like: Cutter Kamau sniper msv2 Kamau HRL fusil FO Fusil Para Fusil Croc man FO Echo Bravo AHD KHD Zulu cobra Zulu cobra LT (sensor/jammer) Sadly this is ~18 points over. I really like the synergy between the Crocman FO with his deployable repeaters and the Hackers. this pretty much allows the Echo Bravo to always be effective. who, by the way, is totally outfitted to fuck with TAGs. DEP for a possible flank shot and the AHD for harassment/zone lock down. Honestly I think I might do Squalo. only problem is im not taking an engineer, with the Cutter I'm pretty confident in my ability to avoid dying with him, between the modifier and the marker state. But with the Squalo, he is vulnerable from the get-go. The upcoming tournament is Limited Insertion, so 1 combat group is a must. I'm trying to meta-game here a bit and anticipate what opponents might take. HD plays into that pretty nicely because of the inability to squash my plan before it happens
I think that list works, but I'm really not sure you can risk having multiple AD and TO Camo in a 10-order list. Having played a ton of Limited Insertion in the last couple of seasons (mostly against my will, but hey, you adapt to whatever's in front of you.) I love the Echo Bravo, and applaud the use of an Assault Hacker, but when since Assault hackers do so much of their work in ARO, I'm hyper-cautious around the WIP12 of the Echo Bravo. I'm mostly willing to overlook PanO's bad WIP and find ways to push buttons, heal dudemen, make Discover rolls, etc., but I really notice the WIP12 when I'm attempting Oblivion AROs and keep missing. As far as getting that list legal... Something has to go. I don't know what it would be without knowing your playstyle better, but that amount of points can't be gained by just trimming Specialists down to regular troops or whatnot. Tricky.
It'll depend on the resculpt really - honestly I'd not be surprised if it dropped to S6 and was a little lighter, for eg. But, seems likely that any rework will wait until the model is redone, yeah.
Yeah I don't play LI all too often, but this is a big 24 man event at a convention so it makes sense for time reasons. I know where youre coming from with WIP 12, but I feel as though looking at the faction at a whole the best alternative we have is WIP 13 marker state, albeit that is a whole lot better, but unfortunately the deployables on the Croc are a must for me. As you said, this list only starts with 7 on board, but the deployables on the croc make it all so much more order efficient. the KHD is almost not even relevant without him. As far as getting it legal, I hate to say it but I think ill have to drop the Zulu lt and replace him with a fuse lt, so I can reform at 5 or make a current fusi the LT and take a remote instead
So, it looks like Clipper Dronbots are Wildcards in Varuna, if we assume the same options as Druze then you're paying a couple of points more than a Fusilier ML but getting the same BS, the ability to get MM2, and a second level of Unconscious in exchange for the usual downsides of being a REM. Worth it? Or stick to the Fusi ML and Kamau HRL?
The question I keep asking myself is: Is it better than a kamau? and the answer is almost always "no"
It's quite cheap, a lot less than the MULTI, but not much cheaper than the HRL: My initial reactions on the Clipper: You need both an Engineer and a standard/EVO Hacking Device to really get full use out of it. Neither of those support choices necessarily are natural picks for a VIRD list... We may have some REMs, but I won't be starting every list with Pathfinder + 3 Fugazi like I do with NCA or Acon. Perhaps if you're already a huge Bulleteer fan, the Clipper is a more natural choice because you're already investing in supporting the Bulleteer? The template is really nice, though the Kamau HRL is incredible. Guided itself is an interesting notion. Fusiliers aren't great FOs, which basically leaves the Croc. The Croc FO can certainly get the job done, though it's expensive and you may not be likely to take two. Both Assault Devices in our list are WIP12 (Echo Bravo, ORC) so trying to succeed at Spotlight is a pretty scary proposition. The best bet I see here is EVO + Sat-Lock. I'll have to think on this one a bit.
I'm assuming that there'll be a regular ML variant as well, like in Druze and IA. Getting EXP and a hit mode trumps guided IMO
Could also work like the Samekh in OS. I guess a Machinist in a Kamau link with Clipper and Hacker might be cool. Add the Sniper two Crocmen, one or two Bulleteers, a Pathfinder plus Echo Bravos, Fugazis and Helots till you hit 300 seems like a solid list to me.
being looking for aro numbers for the msr kamau in link....... dont see me spending 1.5 swc on the Clipper for a link, just..... no i scavenge the points somehow
It's more the SWC thats the problem than the points costs. But there's some potential there, for sure.

So y'all do understand my frustration with what CB has spoiled for Yu Jing, right? I mean, PanO gets all the nice things, awesome, instantly-inspiring things, and YJ gets stuff that has an initial reaction of 'meh' at best. And back on topic, posts like Barakiel's are why I really want to play Varuna/Navy SEALs the Sectorial. I just need to figure out a way to not have a single combi or multi rifle model on the table...
I feel you, personally I get over the "wrong banana" by embracing the fact that it's not bullets inside but liquid which is being flash forged in the weapon. At the very least it works for the Multi (and there are references suggesting something similar is happening for the Combi). Then the shape can be accepted as better ergonomics.
I actually assume each individual round is tapered at either end, like an elongated diamond. With that shape, it could still fit in a PanO mag. If you discard the idea of present-day primer, it's not unreasonable that a cartridge could have a very different shape from present day munitions.
Well I always quite liked the idea of teardrop shaped rounds. Which is the other logical explanation. But the "liquid medium" bit is in the setting, so it's likely the "correct" answer.
The YJ players here were happy as hell with both Shooting Star and Zencha, there was more discussion (positive) about them that for the ZC or the EB you know about the G11? i imagine a L5 kind of rifle, only way to carry so much ammunition without utility best and each barrel can have another kind of bullet wich you can choose with a selector.
