If Helots are cheap enough, their role would be distinct from Hexas. As mentioned, the Strelok indicates some good options... Something like ambush camo with a 0 SWC Marksman rifle projects some interesting threat. Similarly, a Helor camo tokens that hides either a multi sniper, marksman rifle, red fury or shotgun (or Croc AP mine) is something your opponent has to account for. That's more than just Hexa capability, especially since the Helot could easily be 5-10 points cheaper than a Hexa with a fairly high AVA. A couple light shotgunners in the DZ, masking a lurking MULTI Sniper or light rocket ARO, might only be 60-70 points but brings some cheap, disposable gunfighters and threat projectors to the situation. The Red Fury would also (probably) be much cheaper than the Hexa Spitfire. Less of a primary commitment, and more of a disposable but lethal high Burst gunfighter. If it's priced for very cheap SWC like the authorized bounty hunter, and not like the 1.5 SWC Hexa special weapons, that would be big.

For the Kamau, I won't be using them like Bagh Mari, just because of the 4-4. When I play with BM, they form a firebase that rarely leaves the DZ. They project threat, to let light troops play forward and attack. Kamau can transition from castle to attack tbough, and can shift to attack much more easily. So yeah, superficial resemblances to Bagh Mari.

For the Echo Bravos, you're probably on the money. They sure look like Medium Infantry, so it's hard to imagine something functionally different than the other PanO AD. LRL is a big deal... PanO will be a first in terms of getting that weapon for an AD unit.

I think the other innovation might be in the mask he's wearing.
Just looking at that headgear, that doesn't just look cosmetic to me. I think it might be a visor. MSV is possible (multiple eye lenses, though slightly different than the standard PanO MSV.)

    360 visor or xvisor...?

we'll see, I dunno Im feeling a bit more hopfule given it does look like the Zulu's have 2 profiles in the one troop. and the fact there is that visor on teh AD.

Ill hold my peace for now though, I dont want to get excited then just be disappointed again

Well, my complains have always been focused on how stale generic Pano has been. Pano's sectorials all have unique playstyles and I think Varuna is going to end up the same.

Well I thought I’d be able to resist Varuna for awhile while I worked on other projects, but it looks like those hopes might have been a bit optimistic. A feuerbach ORC is a juicy profile. I’d take that as a stand alone model in Vanilla.

I don’t have any speculation about profiles, but I am curious about how the Kamau will be expanded beyond the starter. Seems likely that at least one other combi rifle would be appreciated. I’m wondering if instead of doing a box they’ll just release a Kamau hacker blister?

Ditto with the Red Fury on the Echo Bravo. AD in, with, perhaps, an X-Visor? That’s putting a huge swath of the board under a B4 Shock on +3/0, likely on 13s. With, say, a Kamau Core, ORC Feuerbach Haris, and Croc Men sneaking about? Decent specialists, good firepower.

They did it with the Scout when it was rescultped, but that was a while ago. I agree there’s probably 2 profiles, but it’s been done before so slight possibility that that’s all it is.

The Cobra Zulu may be the entry for a new skill entirely. His camo poncho may easily be revealed to be a sort of "TO X: Limited TO Camouflage."

I do hope that Varuna shakes up vanilla PanO, but what I am expecting is Navy SEALs the Sectorial with a rather static vanilla PanO playstyle.

    Oh, crud, forgot!

The Helots may end up as a NA2-ish faction, since we know there is a not-insignificant Helot Uprising on Varuna!

That would be the Libertos. However, I don't know if they're organized enough to be considered NA2-esc (which to me is more small countries and merc companies).

PanO sectorials usually hit their themes well. Seems Varuna is definitely going for a high speed low drag operator theme (I dig it and would play it but I've enough factions/sectorials for my tastes right now).

With Helots being militia might we see PanOs first fighting (just saw the tech-bee is irregular) irregular unit? Militias aren't exactly known as professional/regular fighting forces. I can see a PanO spin on them compared to other irregular troops already just based on their weapon options. They would definitely be the very best equipped irregulars which would be so PanO (instead of rifles, chain rifles, or BSGs we give them MSRs, Red Furies, and LRLs!). At the same time though with weapons like those it would seem the Helots might be regulars (which would make me kind of sad as it would be missing out thematically... but that's nothing new for PanO).

It'll all boil down to the specific mix of weapons, skills and equipment. More Red Furries, Marksman Rifles and Feuerbach means a shakeup in this regard already. Echo Bravo might not end up being the same as the other drop troops (and I hope the differences will be bigger than Religious being replaced by Aquatic Terrain :P ). Combi+LSG will be actually very useful on a paratrooper. Cobras might end up as something similar to Locusts, but I think we'll see something more interesting this time. And I'm really curious about Helots. I also hope we'll see some more Auxbots in the sectorial. Three months. We'll see.

You mean Indonesian Denjaka the Sectorial, because stealthy half naked brown guy+weaponized exotic fish+crazy paratroopers = pretty standard Indonesian navy to me d:

I've just checked EB's concept and models of our other AD guys. The thing is, jump packs looks different, EB's gear has 4 extra nozzles on a front side. So we may have smth besides our usual AD4, like superjump or AD5. On the other hand i'm bothered about Bostria called ED 'a parachutist', so it can be AD1 just because 'we hate u PanO' :)

I doubt it'll be a downgrade. AD1/2 doesn't need jump gear at all, being inserted by an aircraft of some kind. AD5 is possible, but I'm not sure if CB would give it to us, of all people. Still, elite paratrooper fits the sectorial's theme, so maybe?

What I'm really curious about is the new style faceplate EB sports...

We now know that's just a different part of the life cycle of the Helot aliens.

    ...

I have a tiny sliver of hope that we might get Assault Pistol + Marksman Rifle or (my personal favorite combo which I've always wanted to see on a unit) Assault Pistol + Spitfire.
