That would be a classic Bostria troll, but in this case I don't think that's what's going on. Actual Camo makes a lot of sense for the Helots and has been one of the things which was considered "on the cards" for them. I've been thinking about the pressure suits, and how the combination of Camo and a two-state profile might work. I think it'll be an interesting unit if it does have a symbio/transformation style "two wounds" structure with Impetuous (or Extreme Impetuous) and even Irregular on the second state. That would be a cool contrast with Frenzy, where the Helots lose control when they TAKE a wound, rather than when they inflict one.
As much the concept of Varuna seems cool. What were they thinking putting only 1 combirifle Kamua in the box?
It kinda comes down to what they put in the "SWC box". If there's a couple of Combi armed options in there it may work out ok.
Well, I think they will move plenty of units of a separate box of Kamau. So that probably means that there will be a separate box of Kamau.
No argument there but what the hell would it even have? We're getting the HRL and MSR in the starter. The HMG is in "Beyond Icestorm"(and I highly doubt they'll remove that product or part it out, since it's a 'starter product' in their minds). There's a Combi Rifle in the starter, and we know they don't really care about those being readily available. So that leaves the Boarding Shotgun(assuming it'll actually end up there rather than just being an artifact on the dossier) and Hacker...and that's just not really a 4 model box IMO. :P
Be more inclined to think the Helots would work more as cheap regular limited camo one-shot-wonders - or irregular normal camo.
In Varuna, I like these possibilities: Fusiliers Haris, Kamau Haris, MI - Shark Commandos. BS13, Arm 1, Bts 3 , 1W, Inferior infiltration or AD, limited Camo, ODD. Red Fury/MultiRifle/Boardingshotgun or Vulkan shotgun/light flamerthrower
Seeing how the three kamau in the starter are male, I wonder if we'll see female hacker again. Complete with her TO camo wall to lean against.
Edited to add more. In Varuna, in addition to the other likely units for Varuna, I like these possibilities: -Fugazi Ava 3 -Techbees. Duo. Ava 2 -Fusiliers Haris, Ava 5 -Kamau Haris, Kamau Core -MI - Varuna Seal Squad. Aquatic BS13,Wip 12, Arm 3, Bts 3 ,1W, S2,Ava 2 Inferior infiltration or AD, limited Camo, Dogged. Assault. Red Fury/MultiRifle/Boardingshotgun or Vulkan shotgun/light flamerthrower/ 2 assault pistols/knife -Father Knights , Duo, Ava 4 - or a Varuna Knight? HI - Shark Commandos Varuna Guard BS 15, Wip 13, Arm 4, Bts 6, 2W, S5, Ava 4 (2 in vanilla). Aquatic Duo, Mimetism, Inferior Infiltration or limited Camo. Lt option. 1 & 2 Auxbot option , Hacker option (KHD & HD). RedFury/MultiSpitfire/HMG/MultiRifle/ HeavyFlamethrower/2SMG/ 2 Assault pistols. -Tag . Varuna Assault Specialist BS 15, Wip 13, Arm 6 , Bts 6, 3 Str, S6, Ava 2 (1 in vanilla). Aquatic. Limited Camo, ODD 2 Heavy Rocket Launchers/HMC/2SMG/ 2HeavyShotguns/LightFlameThrower/EclipseGrenadeLauncher -Cutters. Ava 2 Thoughts?
Actually, that is a good point. Perhaps we will get a 2-model blister with a Boarding Shotgun and a Hacker instead of a "SWC Box". But I'm still holding out a little bit of hope that there will be a SMG armed Kamau, which would open the possibility of a Boarding Shotgun, SMG, Paramedic, Hacker box. Which is a strange kind of box by the typical standards, but would probably still sell well. Well, other than the fact that we know that the Zulu Cobra, Echo Bravo and Helot Militia all exist and are in Varuna (as are ORCs) those sound like some cool ideas. I mean, I don't think any of them are happening (other than that your "Seal Squad" sounds a bit like what the Zulu Cobra might be), but they are cool.
I'd obviously love more Kamau, but I'm not holding my breath. This reminds me a lot of Acontecimento Regulars, where we get the majority of profiles in the starter box, and thus they never received a stand-alone SWC pack. Given that SKU control is a priority for CB, it would frankly surprise me if they bothered boxing the Kamau in 3 separate places. This wouldn't be the first time that a PanO linetrooper (even a linetrooper who is heavily emphasized in a Sectorial) didn't follow the 3 + 4 format for rifles and SWC sculpts.
Put differently, it'd be the second time we got fucked over because CB decided to get "inventive" with the way they designed one of our Sectorial starter boxes...
That seems like the obvious route that CB is going to take. Either we are getting new sectorial specific loadouts or we are just going to get blisters for the remaining loadouts.
It also depends on linkability, if you can mix Fusiliers and Kamau like Securitate and Grenzers then there might not be a real need for more sculpts.
This was a big surprise for me when that starter was released. I still bought the box but it has caused me to get more Combi Regulars through split box services, our friendly neighborhood @ShaeKonnit being the outlet I chose. Seeing CB do this again has surprised me as the more recent sectorial starters outside of PanO follow the "normal" layout of CB's boxing. 3 sectorial line troops plus 3 different units with either a Combi or normal Rifle loadout and/or at least a single SWC weapon. Tunguska being the most recent example.
Hmmn... of all the units I would want to mix I don't think Fusiliers and Kamau are on that list. I'm not sure it makes thematic sense either. But, maybe. That would make the lack of Kamau Combis less annoying.
It really wouldn't. They need to get with the frigging program, give us alternate arms or just stop doing this garbage with "inventive" boxes.
