Street marks wear off... so they became "very light grey" and even show parts of the asphalt. And asphalt goes grey with use. That should take care of the contrast issue.

Also trash and manholes. And potholes and patches.

Karakuri is a good example of urban base.

Wow, you did breathe some new life in that old Karakuri sculpt. Brilliant color choice too! That TR bot looks like a completely different model with that color and style.

Unfortunately many of your picture links are broken.

May not be his fault, the forum is epic-stupid and will occasionally decide to not show any pictures to logged-in users, while letting visitors see them just fine.

And it has apparently done a data-dump of (old) directly-uploaded pictures before, too.

I really love what you do with light. I wish I could have such an understanding of it.

Glad to hear it! Karakuris are ones of my favorite minis, I wish more people would love them instead of looking for proxy. As for TR-bot, I was thinking that he is really old and sad judging by box art. But when I glued him he turned out to be a simple and cool mini, and I quite enjoyed painting him, until it came to painting legs. Hate painting rem legs.

All pics from 2018 (except ones in the 1st post) were forum attachments, and as Section9 mentioned they've been lost after data-dump. I'll redo them later. Is there any problems with pics from 2019?

    Thanks!
If you are interested in studying this subject I can suggest reading book "Colour and Light" by James Gurney. It goes from basics to complex effects and describes what and also why without overcomplicating things.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try to get it even if the reading might be more complex with my English level than for a native speaker.

    Thanks!
Roof tiles are scuplted with milliput. Process is quite simple. Start by building slope with desirable angle, let it cure and then divide it in layers by sculpting some external edges, assuming that its flat. Now is time to divide layers in individual tiles by sculpting some cillindrical shapes. Once its cured you only need to sculpt some edges on one side of cylinders and smooth transition to planes on other with some additional putty.

Let me fix this long time no post with one and a half minis I've painted in autumn.

    Some cyber-samurai:

And retouched karakuri to get more cohesive look of that pesky haris:

And speaking of haris I've finaly collected 'em all!

Very brave of you to strip color of the Karakuri and paint these flimsy models again! The results are brilliant and well worth the effort.
