New player here looking at Ariadna. I'm trying to understand what the differences are between running Ariadna vanilla and running them as one of the sectorials.

Looking at the army builder I see vanilla has 68 different units to choose from when making a list. Switching to TAK reduces that to just 25, but 2 of those are not available to the vanilla list. Similarly the USARF has only 20 unit types available and none that are unique to it. The Caledonians also get 20 and have one unit of their own, McMurrough.

So when I read comments about things working better in one sectorial or another where is that coming from? Does a Traktor Mul Kuryer and Carmen Johns make TAK play that much differently than vanilla? Do the profiles change from one faction to another (I checked a few and didn't see any differences)?

The main difference is the ability of sectorials to form fireteams (which yields significant bonuses) as well as different AVA on key units and exclusive loadouts. One way to look at it is sectorials are more focused while vanilla lists are more flexible.

Example: USARF has AVA Total on Grunts, while Vanilla Ariadna is restricted to 2. Grunts are a fairly useful unit with various interesting profiles that only USARF can deploy in force and form fireteams with them.

In the context of fireteams, units can play out completely differently than in their own, because they receive benefits to burst, BS and Sixth Sense, depending on the size and nature of the fireteam.

The biggest difference (apart from the higher AVA of most troopers and mercs like Carmen) is that only Sectorials can form Fireteams:

Essentially these act as squads of up to 5 specific troopers that move together, and get bonuses depending on how many members there are.

Ok, thanks. I hadn't noticed the differences in AVA or hadn't looked at the right profiles.
