This is currently my classic default Vanilla list, essentially a "best of Nomads old and new"

[IMG] MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 6)

    6 SWC | 300 Points

All the specialist, decent amount of hacking and repeaters, a variety of options at range and up close, it has camo, has MSV2, has AD... only thing it misses is TO Camo but in Nomads there's only one option for that and it's by no means mandatory.

I like it, I will stole you som ideas from here :p. Just one thing: Why MSR over HMG Intruder? I've seen at least two list with Sniper intruders, a profile that it is hard to find in the spanish subforum, where hmg intruders are legion.

    Oh, and not to forget...
Most of us agreed in this topic that the morlocks were more dangerous with regular orders available, but a friend, who is a more veteran player than me, said to me that i should try to put them without regular orders. Then, the enemy will think that most of their guys are out of morlock range, then use command tokens to change some irregular orders into regular and catch those miniatures that were "safe" from the no-regular-order morlock's "hug".

I like Snipers for their superior range over HMGs, and more hard hitting ARO. A MSR out of 32" will wreck a HMG and that can be very useful, especially if they're in a link.

Shooting a five man team with a HMG using your own Intruder HMG you're looking at both hitting on 12s or 13s, 4 dice vs 2. If you're using a MSR out of 32" however, B2 on 13s vs often like, B2 on 6s or 7s? And in that situation, they may dodge instead or whatever. Plus if you shoot with an Intruder outside of 32" against a Total Reaction bot, it auto-misses. MSR is much more likely to kill in that situation too.

The HMG is good, especially if you take advantage of MI getting Forward Deployment L1 in ITS X. But the MSR performs better in certain very useful areas IMO. And if you have other HMGs and Spitfires for attacking with, which I do in that list, then the Intruder getting higher performance in those areas is very desirable.

I agree with your overall point and think Intruder MSRs certainly do have a role but I don't agree with your point re: links. A HMG isn't an ARO piece, you're much more likely to see ML or MSRs. You're unlikely to outrange MLs/MSRs with an Intruder MSR. Even then, the Intruder HMG has decent odds vs a linked HMG.

The result is that, for fighting links a HMG is significantly better than an Intruder MSR (assuming that your meta favours MLs or MSRs as linked AROs). And this is ignoring interactions like pushing the Intruder under 24" or shooting through Sat-zones (both of which favour HMGs).

Where the MSR has the greatest advantages is vs Sin-eaters/TR Bots (and similar), as a T2/3 ARO option and for killing Multi-wound/Dogged or similar troops.

    Vs ML (+ ranges)

    Vs HMG (outranged)

    HMG vs HMG (+ ranges)

All that being said, I think Intruders are a bad choice vs Links. A Supportwared Reaktion (with Zondbot in position to stand it back up again) is almost as good and a Kriza is better.

Bandits, Spektrs, Tsyklons or Prowlers pushed under the noses are also usually better options than an Intruder.

If you're planning to use Reaktions/Kriza/Bandits/Spektrs/Tsyklons/Prowlers for link breaking then it relieves pressure on the Intruder to do that, which makes the MSR more viable. In particular I think the Kriza HMG + Intruder MSR is a great pair.

Re: Morlocks. I find 1-2 Regular orders is ideal. You can still flip orders to push one where you need it (I did this to two different Avatars in a single tournament), but having the flex to always have ~3 orders for one is ideal on days where your Smoke is just not sticking.

Re: the list. Personally I'd drop the Tsyklon for a Reaktion and an upgrade of the Salyut to a Minelayer Puppetmaster. Gives you a touch more ARO strength (not least if you can get that Puppetmaster on Suppression), a Mine for Intruder shell-games and counter-intel. I'd find that more useful than Baggage and the Repeater. But that's as much about taste as it is practicality: Tsyklons disappoint me.

I agree, I think the MSR over the HMG on the Intruder is super-important in this list. The intruder lives in a group with both a Kriza HMG, a Tsyklon, and a Tomcat... that's a lot going on. He needs the best sniper spot on the board so he can make the 1-2 huge opening hits for Mr. Kriza to come to life - then he needs to GTFO.

If the Intruder has a HMG, he spends valuable orders moving, which he sucks at, and walks away from a Daktari who's there to help his 90% chance to do what 100% must be done. Plus, having fired from a good HMG spot, he's now likely in the Kriza's way. Compare to the MSR, who deploys wherever, zaps stuff, and ends however you need him for ARO.

    Here's a version I like:

Basically, low-energy Tsyklon becomes a Lunokhod for stiffer defense, Heckler upgrades to red fury as prowler-lite, Daktari gets a bot to help the Intruder, and the Zero scores a KHD.

Well guys, after a long period of absence on the forum, I'm back to help my bromads xD.
Despite the distance from the online community, I've been very active in terms of tournaments, recently I played two of them with a two great 3rd places and the top was very close.
All this to tell you that I continue to test a lot our lovely Nomads and their new toys, Hecklers, Puppet master and the others, If you're interested I can post you the BRs and the lists I used.

This is da Internet and you know the rules: You shall share any succesful list or combo and explain it or you will be viciously punished.

    That would be great!
I suggest to post it in a new thread, not in this one.

After using it for a few tournament, I think the heckler boarding shotgun/emarat is the best addition for Vanilla nomad coming from the new tunguska release.

We don't have the raw firepower to deal with a tag/strong HI in long range BS exchange (no big AP platform) so we have to be sneaky. The heckler is perfect for that.

The E/Marat allow him to bing down a TAG or an HI (or an HI FT) very efficiently while forcing your opponent to choose between dodging and taking 2 shotgun shot or taking the opposition and having a risk of ending Imm2/Isolated. Add camo to that and you can bring your weapon in their good range without risk (because you have enough camo to force your opponent to guess).

Plus, he is cheap, so sacrificing him make sense, and your opponent knows it.

Yeah. Didn't think of that as a DT in aggressive DT missions he's solid.

Perseus is brutal against Ariadna. In one game superjump and smoke let him get the high cover over an objective, suppressive fire left my opponent facing -12 bs mods against full burst breaker ammo. It almost felt rude.

I think he'll be a situational pick for me based on what army the opponent is fielding. No MSV2? Auto include. MSV2 and/or high bts? I'll probably take something else.

Two possible Lts., two amazing Datatracker options, two Smokers, two DA CCWs, three Camo Markers to hide the Intruder thanks to Hecklers and MI Forward Deployment and 4 Specialists. Love it! :D

Could switch Lupe for a Tomcat to get some AD, but I am leaning more towards reliable Orders here then wasting some on AD and healing/repairing stuff.

You have effectively 7 orders in your main group and a vulnerability to getting stripped if you go first.

I'd lose Percy and/or downgrade the Kriza (Hollowman Spitfire, Tsyklon Spit or Reaktion are all decent options) and grab a Puppetmaster + 2 Jags.
