I think Feuerbachs continue to be in a weirdly overcosted, uninteresting place. All this talk of rapid fire micro rockets and it has the ROF of big fat napalm rockets. FBs need burst 3 and suppression, they need to lose the explosive mode and they need their old interesting rangebands back.

Running some quick maths through the dice calculator the Feueueurerebach seems to be the better choice if you can use it like a multi-sniper and engage in the >32" range, against another (multi)HMG TAG you're better off with the FB at 32"+ than you are with the HMG in 16-32" because of the difference in range modifiers.

I share the opinion that the Feuerbach is just too pricey for what it does. A better range band like +3 on 8"-32" and it would be worth its points though. That's not much of an issue when it is the only primary weapon the owner has got. But paired with long range weapons like the HMG it feels a wierdly redundant, despite being a strong pick in most cases. But I still take it as often as I can because I just love the name. :joy:

Well, it may - when there are other SWC profiles of that unit (see Azrail).

That's true and I meant to say that but my post was worded badly. My opinion can be summed up this way: The Uhlan is fine and doesn't need fixing, it's the Feuerbach that needs a buff or a price reduction.

Burst 3 AP/ Double Action seems unlikely to me.

My suggestion is we keep the range band, but make it B2 EXP. and have that be the only mode.
    OR
extend the rangeband to that of a missile launcher but instead of +3 at 24, we have +3 at 16.

The other option would be to pair it with a Spitfire rather than an HMG, gives more rangeband flexibility but keeps the role as an anti-armour sniper and makes the Feueueurerebach more of a focus for the unit.

On the downside we already have the HMG modelled on the sculpt.

very very true. but what your forgetting is that PanO are not allowed to have nice things and CB has a huge hard-on for combined recently....

The only issue with the Uhlan is that it pays for two primary weapons, 15 points of which is for the Feuerbach, which the HMG usually relegates to ARO choice. Dropping it to a Panzerfaust would be nice and still keep the anti-armour ARO (and would probably make it the same cost as the Tik) though lose out on the range, but CB seem to have wanted the 99 point price tag.
I love fielding it, the large Camo token is almost as intimidating as the extra-large TO Camo token. In both cases, your opponent has to dedicate a lot of resources to neutralising one model, which you can easily defend.

Move Garuda to 2nd combat group, it has too much to compete for orders with Uhlan. Also this list really lacks ARO ;/

Fusilier link pairs perfectly with the Uhlan. Theyre cheap Orders and a backup firebase so the Uhlan doesn't have to run as many risks.

Regarding the Uhlan itself, it plays wonderfully. It's actually a very good personification of NCA as a Sectorial... Feels inherently limited, but very good at attrition in the first two turns, limiting the opponent with destructive AROs while being very hard to retaliate against.

I’d be genuinely sad if the Uhlan itself changed. A small change to the Feuerbach perhaps, moving the +3 rangeband to 24-48 (a la Missile Launcher) would be interesting.

I have very few complaints about the Uhlan itself though. It has chewed through everything I’ve set it’s sights on - including an unfortunate HMG Intruder who ate the Feuerbach ARO after rolling poorly.

I need to get back to playing NCA so I can throw this bad boy on the table again. Just reading through the thread makes me want to play him tonight.

Yeah not a great list, had limited time. Plus really wanted a garuda and auxillas in it. What do you put in fus link. I found it to be really squishy for aro, and I worked with: Fus, Fus FO, fus hacker, hmg and ml.

Uhlan might actually be better than usual for Saturation Zone Missions. The Feuerbach ARO gets better with less opposing Burst and Stealth + Camo to get to Civvies in Rescue.
Same as Bolts are worth considering for Hunting Party (Veteran + E/M Grenades are very good there).

So yeah, very niche for some specific missions. If he ever gets revised I'd be very happy about that.

Or you know... CB could simply adjust the points formula so you don't pay full price for 2 mainarmaments... 7/8 points cheaper and he gets a lot easier to fit into a list.

Thing is, other S7 tags, MBTs can fall back on the MHMG, the Tikbalang and the Seraph cannot and thats the point the Uhlan is a light tag that packs the punch of an MBT

last points were a real dilemma... should I take a trauma doc (dr Kavorkhian usually works well for my opponents, burning my orders and euthanizing my doodz), or maybe a pair of fugazi, or maybe drop garuda (which I have such a nerd-crush on) and fill in with a hexa MSR...and then a warcor or smt else?... finally settled for an auxilla speedbump which I love for so many reasons...

    This is a solid list.

You should take this and play it for 10ish games in a variety of different missions against a variety of different opponents and forces.

Then maybe change one or two things and do that again.

After THAT you'll be ready to decide if you really like the Uhlan or not.
