    Hi Everyone,

    Looking to start a new army and considering either Tunguska, or Bakunin.
    So people, sell it to me, which one would be good to start, bearing in mind I'm still quite new to the game?
    I would be looking at getting the starter box set and building from there.
    Also would be nice to know people's opinions on what to get after the starter box set!

    Cheers,

    Neal

    several tunguskan model are not yet released. which is both bad (you'll need to buy a little every other month) and good (easier to spread the purchase over several month).

    Right now, Bakunin can really take advantage of the temporary bonus to medium infantry in ITS Season 10.

    Also bakunin are cheaper Pts (ie. easy to get more orders), and have better access to smoke, warbands, and good melee fighters. Also Sin Eater are awesome reactive units.

    Tunguska gets hidden deployment, awesome 2STR units (but weak in melee) with Hollowmen HI and Puppetbots REM and a good engineer to repair them.

    If you are new to the game, I recommend Tunguska. Bakunin's fun, but contain a lot of trickier rules in the starter. Plus, only two of their line infantry and a bunch of expensive guys without SWC weapons, which sucks when starting a collection. Tunguska's starter is a little more straightforward, and better for running alone. I play Bakunin myself, so if you go that route I suggest any one box of linkables (Moiras, Grrls, Moderators) and Zoe and Pi-Well as an early expansion to the starter box. The linkables allow for full Sectorial fun with core lonks, and Zoe+Pi-Well are always useful.

    tl;dr Bakunin's good but its starter box is confused.

    Also Tunguska has the Zondnautica (Motorcycle-REMs).
    In general, Tunguska has really many special REMs and the best Hackers, but only one AVA1 Warband.

    Bakunin has lots of Medium Infantry and cheap Warbands.
    Bakunin is much about girls - either MI nuns or HI punks.

    Also, if you want to use a TAG often,
    it's Szalamadra vs. Lizard...

    Here is a nice unit writeup that might help you:
    https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Infinity/N3_Tactics/Jurisdictional_Command_of_Bakunin
    https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Infinity/N3_Tactics/Tunguska

    and of course here in the forums:
    https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threa...-bakunin-jurisdictional-command-tactica.1708/
    ...but sadly no Tunguska writeup yet

    Welcome to the Nomad Nations, mate. Hope you enjoy your stay. Tunguska and Bakunin are very different beasts, so you really have to pick based on what you think will be more fun and enjoyable to play.

    Both armies have some things in common:
    - Low Cost HI links;
    - Cool S5 HI models;
    - Cheap Specialists;

    However, Bakunin has:
    - Cheap, throwaway CC and Smoke on Morlocks;
    - Awesome CC missile in the Chimera;
    - ODD up the Wazoo thanks to the Observance models;
    - Observance models also open up some nasty ARO options;

    While Tunguska has:
    - Best Hackers in the game, point for point;
    - Extremely versatile fireteam options;
    - Lots of high speed attackers;
    - Puppets allow you to effectively have 3 fireteams while most armies have only 2;

    They also share a couple weaknesses:
    - No MSV2 option;
    - No chain of command and very obvious LT options;

    Bakunin also has the following weaknesses:
    - Most of our stuff is fairly fragile, at only 1 wound. And even our trademark HI, the Riot Grrls, are only armor 3;
    - Stiff fireteam options. We have 3 core options, 2 haris, and only one mixed link;
    - Our specialists are either bare bones and cheap, or overcosted with niche abilities;

    While Tunguska:
    - Extremely vulnerable to CC and Templates thanks to overall low PH and CC scores;
    - Mostly high cost models means they're usually running low model count;
    - Mid table presence is kinda low, with only 1 infiltrator and a fairly expensive one too;

    Overall, the two armies are very different in the end, but I feel Bakunin is the better one by being a bit more versatile on the list building. The Tunguska starter pack is way cooler than the Bakunin starter pack, though. Tunguska does have stuff like Kriza and Puppettatica, which are pretty powerful too. It all comes down to what you prefer, really.

    Dont forget that Tunguska has acces to Raoul Spector and Perseus who count as Securitate for Fireteams and can make their own Haris with a Stempler Zond

    Overall I think @DaRedOne did a good job summarizing the differences.

    I only would say depending on list composition the difference in template vulnerability is negligible. Hollowmen and Moira are low phys... The rest are pretty average. Bakunin can field more (bran + morlocks) cc capable models, but in Tunguska Perseus is a shining star, and Raoul is no slouch.

    Generally I feel being really good with Tunguska takes more finesse, you really need to know how to set up good aro traps to fend off your opponent, whereas bakunin has morlocks which are amazing disposable corner guards, a role Tunguska doesn't have access to.

    You can't really go wrong between the two.

    So just by looking at the starter box and with a few added extras I've come up with this list for Bakunin;

    I understand you're on a budget, mate, but consider downgrading the Reverend Healer to a Daktaris, and getting a 5th riot grrl. Something like this:

    Jurisdictional Command of Bakunin
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]10
    REVEREND CUSTODIER Hacker (Hacking Device Plus) Lieutenant Combi Rifle + Pitcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 34)

    [IMG] PI-WELL Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 19)
    DAKTARI Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14)
    ZONDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3)
    RIOT GRRL (Specialist Operative) Combi Rifle, Blitzen, Stun Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 30)
    RIOT GRRL Boarding Shotgun, Stun Grenades + TinBot B (Deflector L2) / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 30)
    RIOT GRRL MULTI Rifle, Stun Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 32)
    RIOT GRRL Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 33)
    RIOT GRRL Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 34)
    SIN-EATER Spitfire / Pistol, CCW. (1.5 | 31)

    GROUP 2[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]2 [IMG]2
    MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 6)

    Sin eaters get +4 inches to deploy, so the Spitfire can start the game on a good range band already. And you can use one of the moderators on the starter box to proxy that second morlock.

    you can also proxy the rev.healer as daktari or avicenna. I often proxy my doctor for any other doctor. as long as it is clear to the opponant.

    also, there is no sin-eater spitfire model, so using any sin-eater to representing the spitfire loadout is perfectly fine :)

    I second getting the 5tth Riot Grrl, the spitfire, even if it is an old sculpt.

    Took this to an 8-4 win in engineering deck against Acon last night. Only doesn't use the hollowmen from the starter. (You can drop the warcor if you really want a khd heckler.) After playing that list I'd probably change one repeater to another para.... Maybe...)

    You need to proxy the Grenzer as an ML but otherwise it's pretty much WYSIWYG. It's also actually extremely (surprisingly) really quite playable. Like really solid, given it was built foremost around miniature availability.

    It probably seems more expensive than the Bakunin stuff, but if you play Nomads you'll need all of that sooner rather than later anyway.

    There's this Tunguska list, I call it the "Pro Gamers"list. It isn't the most effective, but it's fun and thematic:

    I'm a huge fan of Vanilla over any of the Nomad sectorials, so from a perspective of moving into vanilla after starting with either Tunguska or Bakunin, I'd say start with Tunguska. Can't go wrong with the Kriza HMG in vanilla (replaces a linked HMG, basically), the Hollow Man is a good proxy for any Hollow Man profile, and the Heckler sees use as well.

    As far as the Bakunin Starter goes, personally, I'm not a fan of the Sin Eater (not that it's bad, it just doesn't fit into my playstyle). The Riot Grrl, Morlock, and Moira are useful in vanilla, though. It's worth nothing that you generally have more than one Morlock so you'll want the box of 4 anyway.

    Can't go wrong either way though. Here's what @natetehaggresar was talking about:

    Yeah. Tunguska Starter is really solid for Vanilla, Bakunin and CJC starters less so.
