If i understand, are you saying that as you only roll damage for your troopers in the zone then you don't get to roll for HD that are in your zone ? i'll be playing the mission soon, and looking for some tips. Unrelated question, HVT is deployed DZ+4", so it can over the 12" line but still within the biozone ? That could make some classified harder for your opponent to achieve :)
You only roll for Troopers on the table. HD is not on the table. At least that's how I understand it.

(0.5 | 25) 5.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army Idea was to have enough smoke to cover my approach to the middle of the table, and have the MIssile launcher as a sacrificial ARO unit to slow down my enemy if I lost initiative. I didn't, so I smoked my way to the border of the enemy deployment, moved the non-hollowman up enough to clear the zone and moved the hollowman link under smoke to cover on the border of the enemy biotechvore zone. Used the lt order to put my interventor in impersonator just to avoid a LoL, but did not need it in the end. Also, miscalculated a bit and engie was nicking the zone, failing her BTS roll. Came first turn, he had to contend with 5 linked hollow man staring down at his approach. He either spent orders to remove them and would fall short of the biotechvore zone, or he would move up and have to handle linked hollowman shooting. Game ended 10x0 to me, so I think that worked out pretty well. Enemy only managed to clear the zone with very little stuff - most of it either died on the ftf approaches or got locked down trying to force wounds on the hollows and ended up not clearing the biotech zone.
