Recently went to my first 2 Day tournament of 5 rounds. Ended up placing 6th out of 29. Was an interesting learning experience. Ended up losing one game to the person who came 2nd so am pretty happy with that. Missions were Power Pack, Capture and Protect, Highly Classified, Acquisition and Hunting Party. I had tailored a list for Highly Classified with that list also being a possibility for Hunting Party though I ended up using my main list for everything but HC. I think my main learning was definitely playing HC better. I dominated in terms of board control though I could not crack the zone that the HVT was placed in. They chose board side and were really able to leverage the protected zone. In hind sight I should’ve positioned my HVT in a different area and trusted my long range fire support to hold their own especially given they had mates. The advantage of 2 triad list is that you can have a spare Kaeltar move into the group when some units have died or shift them around to utilise better positioning. 3 Triads often mean you don’t have a filler unit. I saw the mission mix and was tossing up between the Nikoul and Sukeul ML. Ended up going with the Nikoul for Power Pack and it did help me in all my missions maintain good board control in areas that people weren’t expecting long ranged units. I also changed up Sukeul LT into the Gao Rael triad for Hunting party and just camped it. B2 ADHL is so damn good. Sukeul FO moving up late game was also really effective. The opponent is torn between trying to shoot it or gluing. It's a high risk high reward play.
