I'm just saying that dude is coming from that era. Tohaa has no REMs, but still they wanted to add the TR bot there. That's the result.
Accidentally or not sci-fi in general probably has this right. Intelligent aliens created through biological evolution, that have the ability to control their own planet/many planets probably need to be bipedal and have opposable thumbs before they can acquire a brain comparable to a human and the tools to dominate their environment. Other traits are up for grabs but most invented body plans that don't have these characteristics are obviously incapable/implausible. Convergent evolution is a thing, time is practically limitless but biology does not produce infinite forms the same things occur again and again. You can argue that on earth there are a lot of billion year old pre-requisites built into DNA that force life down certain paths, but I think the laws of physics probably have a bigger impact on our development and those are constant. Planets also need to be 'interesting' (a big speculative topic) in order to foster complex life, this is another problem for 'aliens that don't look like us.' It should only get really weird with artificial beings, the uncanny valley is where most sci-fi aliens should be.
Just because there's one successful path on Earth, doesn't mean there can't be other, totally different ways to do it. I think aliens are humanoid, because these kind of art is created like "now draw some aliens that look like fish people" and they go and google fishpeople. Just put more effort into it people!
I'm just pointing out that going Prone isn't the only benefit over a Reactionbot. Although, given that stacking visual MODs is the main anti-Reactionbot tactic, it's a pretty good benefit. As is the Pistol for troopers trying to get inside the good range of the HMG.
Does that mean that you are releasing something for Tohaa? Because that's where the sexy aliens are, just look at new-Neema or the Spitfire Rasail.
