I find it more realistic to NOT have built in weapons. First off, they need “hands” for things like climbing, and other physical things you would use them for. Then also having a standard weapon like all other soldiers around them is also good in case another needs to take up the weapon. The same goes for ammo. I think this is one reason why all NATO troops have the same ammo type. If the weapon is attached, then an allied soldier that needs a weapon can’t pick it up and use it (I’m guessing in the future only those troops and allied troops can use the weapons they are assigned).
Pretty much spot on. Built in primary weapons fall into the "Awesome but impractical" trope, which Infinity does admittedly have a strong history of (see every mini with a CCW larger than a machete) Integrated secondary weapons are awesome and practical though, especially the Karakuri's chain rifle and Sphinx's flamethrowers.
I think the same over all Dakini-Based-Chassis but they started with weapons in hands so they will keep with their concept. I guess a robotic soldier with hands that can handle weapons, climp etc. is way too expansive to build. They can use the same ammo thouhg, but built in weapons mean you don´t have to care about the complex technics that are need. And climbing could be done with other technical solutions or you leave the climbing (+) to some troops that are actualy good at it. Infinity-fluff-tech-wise - nearly all Nomads REM (without any hands!) and some Aleph also have C+
Not to necro a thread but how have people been feeling about the reinforcements profiles now that they're in Vanilla and OSSSSSS? Looks like a good aggressive Harris that adds in some needed CC expertise, but I'm a bit hesitant on how the Dawon look and don't want to buy into the power creep of the new profiles.
I still haven’t heard of anyone using them. In Non-REF games, on paper the Dawon are not that powerful. They are only AVA2 and can still go down to a combi. They seem cheap but they are not so cheap that you can throw them away. The same stuff can be said for Riksha too. They are better and more expensive Dakini. They are both great in REF though because AVA5 and already up the board.
Im playing OSSS in our local league. I was planning on going YJ or Haqq but REF update changed that. OSSS looks like the most impacted army and the Riksha+Dawon+Dawon/Artalis Haris seems fun to play. But as always with OSSS everything is just a bit more expensive than other similar units and it makes list building annoying. Also it is hard to not take Dakinis, they are just so good for their points but with REMs as both core and haris it "forces" me to include Evo and Engineer, thats already 10 units. On top of that if somebody has good Hacking you are in a bad place.
Wanted to put in here that I have been having a blast with the Dawon and to a lesser extent the Riksha in OSS. Having a haris of Riksha red fury, Dawon, and Trisha can do almost anything I want. Using the EVO to give the Riksha marksmanship to have b5 on 15s with mimetism overcomes most of the issues with red fury for me. Plus as your are moving up the board 6” up the board per order you for ‘free’ get the Dawon into a spot to go ham either late in turn 1 or early turn 2. Now that OSS has a fantastic warband it covers a big hole in the faction and oh man it is fun to burst 2 on 25s with DA mode on the multi pistols to just evaporate things. And having Trisha to fix the bots in case of hacking or a bad roll, or just to use her breaker combi or e/m grenades or push buttons. I’ve also been giving the Satrah a try since albedo is great and msv2 on something cheaper is nice. Not sold on it yet, but I’ll likely keep trying it from time to time.
This sounds like a sweet Haris indeed. Though I'd probably exchange Trisha for an Artalis Engineer to have the option to use NCO if necessary
Fair, though I usually take the Shukra Strategos Lt. so NCO is not a draw for me, and I find the 6-2 movement and wide range of kit that Trisha brings to be well worth the 3 points.
Thanks for the insight. I was intrigued by the the new haris, but hadn't time to try it. I like that it works.
