NCA can do well in Biotechvore.

Bolts are a solid option, because the mission pushes opponents into their preferred range and their extra BTS is useful (and unopposed move-move is a myth against any decent opponent in BTV).

But most importantly, you can lean heavily into TO and leverage Hidden Deployment to reduce the number of units you have to pull out of the zone in each turn.

A triple guard list isn't bad if you need to play Limited Insertion. Double Swiss, and maybe the Aquila FTO, will get a lot of work done.

Biotechvore should be regard in two ways: The first component is the ability attack/defend on Turn 1 while moving as many units as you can up the table. The second component is surviving inside the Kill Box in Turn 2 and Turn 3, once both sides have displaced.

A triple Guard list does that well. The Swiss Missile is one of the game's best ambush units, and it transitions into close-quarter combat nicely. The Aquila does quite well at a variety of rangebands, and the ability to Auto Discover is actually really nice in Limited Insertion.

Thank you @barakiel and @AdmiralJCJF for your answers... I was thinking to use the Aquila Guard FTO in a core of fusiliers. Probably in regular games I wouldn't use this configuration very often, but LI + biotechvore, obliges me to move and save orders. Perhaps once outside the risk zone, I could even remove the Aquila from the link if necessary, to have better mobility.

Now with respect to the Swiss Guards, I thought of using one with HMG and another with Multi rifle, and not with ML ... I even thought of taking it as an assault hacker (for classifieds) although it can be a bit risky because of the number of KHD, but if not I would use it just with MR, I like this gun a lot and I think it can work very well inside the kill box. I was thinking of leaving a Hexas sniper as ARO piece in addition to the classic fusilier ML.

What do you consider most efficient Swiss ML or Swiss MR?

Another reason to use Aquila and Swiss MR are these two simple and nice conversions that I did :-):muscle:

I don't think I've ever run the Swiss Multi, I'd always go with the Assault Hacker instead. Even for Biotechvore you have Classifieds that the Swiss Hacker is very useful to cover (especially in Limited Insertion).

The argument for the Swiss Missile Launcher loadout is:

1: ARO use (Biotechvore is very much often decided by ARO fire onto units trying to escape the zone)
2: Shotgun (Biotechvore gets close, and a Shotgun is great in close)

Once you get past those, the argument between the different Swiss is pretty even.

But a Swiss HMG, plus one of the others, and an Aquila FTO in a Fusilier team seems like a solid start.

I might do something like this:

But it'd be terrible for those Classified Objectives... so I'd have to play with it a little more.

@AdmiralJCJF I'd be very interested in knowing how do you handle the Swiss Guard Assault Hacker.

I only used it couple of times but always got laughs from my friends for making the Swiss Guard even more vulnerable to hacking. Do you counter other hackers with a Deva or Hexa? Any repeaters? Simply rely on the guard's stealth?

I feel like something like a well placed Ninja KHD can completely shut down the Swiss Guard AHD.

Also I love the idea of this troop but 70 points + 0.5 SWC for what it does is crazy.

I like the Swiss Guard Assault Hacker for when I need to both press a button and hold an objective with a specialist.

I've leaned into Stealth and the marker state for dealing with hackers, and it turns out that a Multi Rifle to the face works just as well when people are trying quantronic attacks as when they try to kill your Guard with guns.

It's a sometimes choice, but in the right missions he can get a LOT done.

The new Sval Locusts have arrived in NCA. No idea when that happened but they weren't there when Sval released.

They showed up same time as the KHD was corrected instead of being a discounted AHD clone. Been meaning to try the WildParrot/SMG version alongside my Squalo LT, seems like a good combo for removing irritatingly well-entrenched units you can't risk getting the TAG close to.

I'm not sure that either of them changes things much for NCA.

Both are interesting options, but neither helps keep the Locust alive if your opponent gets Turn 1.

Hmmmmmm... Gotta say that NCA has the ”rule of cool” in my opinion... too bad most of the kits have ended, though those few left could be used for CodeOne builds...

    Changes are up folks!

Changes to TAGs are good. 18 order list with double tags and an ARO core are something now.

List maybe trash, but you get the point.

    Double trouble

Behold, Neoterra N4 changes. Bear in mind that some of those can be bugs, but still - it looks promising, to say the least:
    • Auxilia: FO got Deployable Repeater, Lt. costs only 0.5 SWC now.
    • Fusiliers: pricing updated in line with general N4 changes, up to two ORCs can join their Core now.
    • Devas: built in Haris and Number 2, which will be nice, given the Wildcard options.
    • Hexas: are Shock Immune and lost plain Combi option (which didn't see much use anyway).
    • Quinn is a full Wildcard now...
    • ...as is a newcomer to the party, Shona Carano.
    • CSU Nanopulsers are (+1B) now.
    • Black Friar FTO slightly buffed in line with MO version.
    • Bolts got really, really good now, as we've seen already in Foreign Company. Built in Haris and Marksmanship are great, though NCA lacks a cheap link filler for them.
    • ORCs got hit by the discount truck and have access to some of the Varuna and Svala special variants.
    • Aquila got some range upgrade with Multi Marksman Rifle replacing the previous Multis, FTO Specialist is a Wildcard.
    • Swiss lost basic Multi Rifle. Both Guards got substantially discounted, too.
    • TAGs: Squalo was seen already, Uhlan got (+1B) on Feuerbach, making it a proper TAG hunter.
    • Bulleteer is now a Wildcard. Enjoy. They also have Fireteam: Duo, and can run with other Wildcards.
All in all, it looks nice, especially the updated Bolts, discounted HI and TAGs, and expanded fireteam options.

They don't have Duo here, as per the Sectorial chart. Wildcard them in with a Squalo, Bolt or CSU for Duo fun. Devas also don't have Haris in NCA, either.

The Hexa picked up Courage with N4, in addition to the Shock Immunity.

I actually the think the update is quite bad, despite the boosts to individual units and link freedom, because the Sectorial is ludicrously vulnerable to Hacking. Like, hard-counter vulnerable. Absolutely all fast or forward-deploying Specialists or attack pieces are Hackable to some extent, and NCA lacks anything that could take on the likes of a linked Jazz or Interventor either through the Hacking net or behind enemy lines. LTs are also obvious, low-quality and hard to protect, though with the Bolt CoC available this shouldn't be a deal-breaker unless Decapitation sticks around.

Shona and Bulleteer Wildcard are both high impact changes.
Getting the C+ Orc with Firewall and Orcs into Fusiliers are game changers.
Deployable Repeaters on Aquila FOs expand their utility by another threat vector.

Deva Hackers are nice but nerfed compared to N3's AHD (Upgrade: Lightning), they did gain Haris so can link with with Wildcards (depending on if their Profile or the chart the chart gets fixed, looking at ISS, I assume it's coming).
Dirt cheap Aquila FTO Wildcard in a Haris of your choice with Shona and a Fusilier Core with an Orc ARO piece and CSUs looks like a solid base.

Having CC and a way to get it cross the board helps immensely with missions and Zero Visibility. Access to both Super Jump and C+ adds a vertical angle only Uma could bring previously.

The Garuda FO also made it in so we have an excellent Forward Specialist now.

Together with the ever excellent Swiss and NCA's array of REMs we're looking at an army that fits very comfortably into Tactical Window, has remarkably potent attack and defense vectors and the durability to keep going.

What NCA didn't get is easy access to the Core Linked Bolt Sniper. A Bolt Core is fairly expensive to fill, we can't get any Orcs in there, but have plenty of Wildcards (Quinn, Bipandra, Aquila FTO, Uma, Shona, Bulleteer, Black Friar) and the NCA Machinist to get there somewhat less efficient. Definitely an option, but not an autopick.

Biggest let down is the Uhlan. Same problem as always it's relatively expensive for what it does in NCA and in Vanilla. It got only 11 points cheaper where any other PanO TAG has seen 15+. The Feuerbach itself is very useful now, but sitting at 9 less than a Cutter and >25 more than a Swiss it's a questionable investment for Vanilla.
NCA itself doesn't need a TAG to crack armor in between the Aquila FTO, Shona, Wildparrot, Bolts with E/M Mines and various Multi/Breaker options.

While being very competent NCA isn't excessively efficient. The only NCO I can find is on the Squalo, didn't see any TacAware (aside from TAGs) and aside from Orcs, REMs, Garuda and TAGs nothing is fast. NCA remains fairly DZ bound and while that's probably fair next to the incredible ARO potential and Core Linked BS15 MSV3 it remains a downside to keep in mind.

    Overall damn NCA looks great.

Shona doesn't have C+, and I really don't see how she's a game-changer when NCA's only method of getting her close to things is by shooting them before they shoot her- at which point you don't need her anyway.

The Orc that can be in her Link does.
Shona has to make do with Superjump, which isn't that great at 4-4 but better than not having it.
Aquila FTO (Specialist), 6-2 Firewall C+ Orc & Shona for something unhackable with deadly CC is a very, very nice and flexible Haris.
All 3 of its members can also jump into a Fusilier Core or in case of the 2 Wildcards into any other Link.

NCA, true to form, needs to be absurd with ranged firepower because they absolutely need to win every engagement they pick. When your entire army is walking out of the DZ, and you're now capped at 15 Orders, you need to be able to walk in a straight line to objectives, murdering everything in sight in order to get there quickly. I'm still not sure that their N4 changes will offset the phenomenon, but I'm excited to get them on the table and see.

Something that dawned on me trying to fit a Bolt Core in a test list:
17 Point Bulleteer Wildcards are somewhat ridiculous as Corner Guards for any NCA Core (especially Bolts tho).

That's been the best use I've see for Bulleteer Duo... Let the Spitfire do its thing, then use the heavy shotgun as a cornerguard and make the enemy waste resources trying to dislodge that Duo. That role becomes even better, of course, with Wildcard.

    deva+devabot can join a haris with a Aquila ?
does the devabot get the +1B ?

shona and her superjump doesn't mix well with orc c+ that a well known SWF issue
you can't use c+ and superjump in the same order + shoot
