Not really, the only useful models would be the Deva, who have their own box and the High Functionary that makes a good proxy, or the Naga who are awaiting a resculpt/re-release.

Apart from the Nagas most of the Aleph troopers useful in PanO have a box or blister available.

Has anyone had success with the Aquila FTO? I'm struggling to make a passable list with him in a fireteam.

I'm also tempted to do something crazy and run the Orc Haris with the Aquila FTO and Bipandra or Black Friar, but that's probably a bit too many points. Especially when we could just run an Uhlan instead.

What i'm running with success currently is a link like this:

    Neoterran Capitaline Army
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]5
AQUILA FTO (Specialist Operative) MULTI Rifle / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0 | 59)
    FUSILIER HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 18)
    FUSILIER Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 15)
CSU (Specialist Operative) Rifle + Light Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12)
    CSU Breaker Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12)

    2.5 SWC | 116 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

The link got most things i want:
    • shotgun
    • DTW
    • breaker rifle (super deadly in a 5 man link)
    • MSV3 on a BS 15 dude (he is so good at linked shooting he is better than a Fusilier HMG against TO/ODD enemies up to 32")
    • 2 specialists
    • defensive piece
    • burst 5 HMG
Of course i add in some normal Combi Rifle Fusiliers to the list to fill in gaps in the link.

    I prefer this one:

    Neoterran Capitaline Army
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]3
AQUILA FTO (Specialist Operative) MULTI Rifle / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0 | 59)
    ORC Lieutenant HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 44)
ORC (Fireteam: Haris) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 36)

    2.5 SWC | 139 Points

But this is in a whole list able to support it. I kinda love this Haris, though.

This is pretty solid! I might need to pick up some CSU.

Yeah this Haris is sick. I'm not sure what I'd run to support it, though.

Neat! I like the list. I'm a bit rusty and getting back into the game, and heavy-on-HI lists are kinda new to me regardless of experience. So I appreciate you sharing the list.

Quick question, why a bolt team instead of a Fusilier squad to try and get another ARO piece shoved in there? Similar question with Bipandra vs a Doc, since it looks like Bipandra isn't in a Link. Is it so that Bipandra can join a link team that lost a member and restore the bonuses?

Honestly my main worry with the Bolts is going second and getting them Ramboed off the table. Any tips for avoiding that with them?

Well, it's not something easy, tbh, so that's why I said that it was somehow specific to me. It's a bit a shame but I'm not 100% sure you'll have fun with this list at first. But here it is:
The Bolts are here to play the vanguard role and make most part of the fighting because their weaponry and their skills fit this role. The Haris is just here for fire support, taking objectives and zones poorly defended or to act as second wave and reinforcements once Bolts are fighting in the mud with your opponent's troopers.
This is why I don't have Fusiliers, because Fusiliers can't go through Jammers, E/Maulers, Mines and CK without getting crippled and ORCs aren't good to go through all this too. Bolts, when you know exactly how to manoeuver them, can go through all this if they have the support of a Doctor. So, here is why Bipandra is here.
Between Spitfire, Drop bears, shotguns and multirifle, you have all the tools to fight effectively in the middle of the table or at the gate of your opponent DZ. Your Haris will get their back and ensure that flanking won't be that easy. You have two wildcards in your core and you should try to preserve them as they can form a core of ORCs later in the game or the Haris can bring the Aquila to form a new core of Bolts. This is something to keep in mind too.
One more thing for the active turn. If you are the one who go first (something you're going to want here), your sniper won't be very useful for the team and Bipandra will be the fifth member instead of the Bolt. She will stay in the back in order to cover his friends at long range and make your opponent use resources to deal with her or avoid her.

Now, if you're going to play second, you should expect to suffer some casualties. That's why you have 7-8 different potential members for your Bolts team and you can even make an ORC team. The sniper will often be the first one to fall. Then, it'll depend of your opponent and your deployment. Remember that, when odds are stacked against them, some of your troopers can opt for landing/throwing E/Maulers and Drop Bears so they will force your opponent to halt his attack. Remember also that in core, your Black Friar is really effective against camo and smoke too and so, can stop a run from a Warband or an infiltrator. Aquila has also some kind of SSN2 against camo troopers too so you have two short range MSV2+ to help you against Myrmidons and Monks. Use also your ORCs to force your opponent to use some orders before retreating them. No need to make them risk their life. One order used on one ORC and just suffering one wound but still being alive is enough. Don't challenge your luck.
Take care though to have a very tight ARO net at rifle range because this is how you'll be able to survive.

Once the storm is passed, heal your unconscious guys and start the counterattack.
At the end of the game, you may have lost a good part of your Bolts, because they are those who will take all the hatred of your opponent in the face, but you will have pushed him in his DZ and he might have been stuck here while occupied to exterminate your frontlane.

Thanks! Extremely helpful writeup there. I really appreciate you sharing it; it answered my questions completely and gave me info I can use in other lists too.

I should clarify that I don't intend to run your list, unless my own list later happens to match close to it. I was just wondering why you made the choices you made. The context and strategy behind the choices are a great way for me to learn things and gain insights for my future lists.

    Thanks again!

You're welcolme. I preferred to warn you as I really don't play PanO like the vast majority of players. At the moment, I'm learning how to build and play lists everyone is used to play because I need to know them but they really don't fit me.

One last thing I forgot to say is that if you're going to go first, you can switch Aquila and BF if you need so. The Bolt team with Aquila, Machinist NCA and Bipandra is pretty good too and the ORCs won't lose much with a BF with them. The BF can go rambo too, if really needed.
So, the list is pretty flexible if you know all its tricks.

If you need anything else, ask it, I'm glad to answer.

Bolts can play a much more aggressive game. With Jammers being an element of the game which can't be escaped now Veteran is worth its weight in gold anywhere you can get it. And Bipandra makes for a great substitute to drop into the Bolt Fireteam and continue on the offensive, or a solid solo Specialist.

In terms of keeping Bolts alive, I've always found that screening with CSUs (especially those with both a Shotgun and a DTW option) and Auxilia is enough to prevent too much damage. Throw in a hidden ARO or two (especially the Hexa Sniper) and you have a great defense.

If you intend to use the Bolts team as the core of your list, yes, you should follow what @AdmiralJCJF is suggesting.

I never saw them like this so I don't act as protective with them but it is just a matter of taste, really.

I've been toying around with the idea of swapping between two situational Core Fireteams like so:

Yeah, I've tried this thing in ASA but, TBH, I'm not sure NCA can do it as good as ASA. May worth some tries, though.
And, IMO, you really want an Albedo BF in this list as he can be everywhere and be useful, no matter what you want him to do.

So this is a bit of a shift, but instead of doing the Aquila in a Harris, I'm thinking of running a list like this tomorrow while I'm de-rusting my skills:

    Test List──────────────────────────────────────────────────
    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]10
FUSILIER Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
    FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
FUSILIER Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 18)
FUSILIER Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12)
    FUSILIER HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 18)
SWISS GUARD Missile Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, AP CCW. (2 | 69)
PATHFINDER DRONBOT Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 16)
    MACHINIST (NCA) (Bioimmunity, Veteran L1) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16)
FUGAZI DRONBOT Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)
FUGAZI DRONBOT Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)

    GROUP 2[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]6
BOLT Boarding Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 18)
    SIERRA DRONBOT HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 25)
    AUXILIA (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle + AUXBOT_1 / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) AUXBOT_1 Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (- | 4)
    AUXILIA (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle + AUXBOT_1 / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) AUXBOT_1 Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (- | 4)
MULEBOT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)
HEXA MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 32)
    6 SWC | 298 Points
    Open in Infinity Army

What do you guys think? I can also swap the Bolt and a Mulebot to fit in Black Friar Albedo. Not sure if the extra order is more valuable or not.

I was also debating an Orc: Core list with Friar and Bipandra, but since I'm getting back used to the game, it feels a bit too all-in.

Edit 6: changed list entirely. Formatting is still tricky from mobile lol

I would say, downgrade your Machinist to the standard profile and get him a Palbot.

This definitely would have helped in the game. I kept the upgraded Machinist since I tend to go into Loss of Lieutenant too often, but that's me being too aggressive with the fusiliers. It's difficult to fight the urge to use the Fusilier HMG aggressively, and I'm tempted to swap it to a Missile Launcher while putting the HMG on the Swiss instead.

Yesterday (I'm in the US), I also ran the Black Friar instead of the Bolt + Mule. This was purely because I don't have a mini for the Bolt, and while I could proxy, I had just put together the BF. He just looks so cool lol.

The games (two total) were a bit slanted, unfortunately. I played against a Nomad list that leveraged McMurrough as a merc, and while my Black Friar for Drop Bears was solid, it was a bit starved for orders while the Hexa was hidden. It also died turn 1 both games; first game due to error, second due to McMurrough being insanely strong with spec fire grenades. The mines were decently useful both games, but McMurrough just tanked through them.

Game 1 was a stomp on the opponents' end. I underestimated the power of smoke dodging, and I went too aggressive with my Fusiliers. He then ran up close and spec fired them into oblivion. He took out enough orders that I just went ahead and scooped.

Game 2, I was winning but he had to leave. However, I was only winning because my Fugazi (who was repaired after taking a shotgun to the face) and Machinist rolled insane armor saves. He spec fired a couple times (hitting each time), I passed saves, then the machinist passed armor for the first CC round. It was something like 7-8 passed armor saves. He likely would have done way more damage otherwise, and I wouldn't have been in the lead like I was If he hadn't left, I was about to reveal my swiss and go missile launcher his link team, McM had just died to an auxilia.

So yeah. Black Friar was great but short lived, and he was order starved. I would be tempted to cut an auxilia for more mules, but the Auxilia are such insanely good flank-covering specialists. I may just use the Bolt next time.

Do you guys have any tips for how we, as NCA, can handle smoke-heavy rambo units like McMurrough? He just tanked through sniper shots (doing f2f smoke to dodge) and mines, then smoked to approach without issues.

Edit: Just had an idea that may help with both scenarios. What about swapping the Swiss Guard to an Aquila HMG? It would let me add a second mulebot to group 2. My only worry is the Aquila being more vulnerable than the Swiss.

Reporting in to say that I won an 18 person, three round Xenotech narrative tournament with NCA. I don't consider myself a good player but I definitely had a good day. Here's the lists I brought. I never used the second one.

I've had an OK season 10. I normally go into tournaments looking to be top half. I accomplished this at the first Rustbelt Ruckus in June, in a field of ~50. To be honest though, I've felt sort disillusioned with PanO and NCA and I went into this tournament just riding out the season. With Wildfire coming soon I figured I'd move to Shasvastii or O-12 depending on how obsolete it made PanO. After this though I'm going to stick with it through Season 11 (still gonna dabble in Shas tho).

My first match was Frontline and I chose Emerald Path as my bonus for the tournament. My opponent played generic PanO. Opting to go first, the Fusilier ML took out his Nisse and caught the Dr in the blast. With the Nisse out of the way the Aquila (with XT in tow) was free to move up the side of the board and cleaned out a number of his troops. I dropped the multiscanner and moved the Aquila into a building and put him in suppressive fire. He brought out the Squalo and tried to take out the Fusilier ML but he was unfortunately over 32in and I made quick work of it. With his major shooters out of the way I was free to position myself as I liked. 10-0

Next was Acquisition against generic Nomads. This was interesting since Acquisition is a 16in deployment zone so with Emerald Path I was deploying 20in up with my HVT 24in. This one did some back and forth and was a pretty exciting match. The Aquila easily handled Mary Problems and Pi Well thanks to his MSV3. MMS2 on his Vertigo managed to best my Fusilier ML. I had gone first so I bunched everyone up on the objectives and put them in suppressive. His Interventor managed to crit a dodge on the very last roll of the game and nabbed Secure HVT. 9-2.

Last game was supplies against Tunguska with a Hollowman link. Going first (again), my opponent set up a very tight ARO net on my Fusilier link team with his ML and Spitfire. A TR remote had my Aquila pinned down and his Puppetbots had an excellent midfield position. I popped the Swiss out of HD and managed a position where only the Hollowman ML could see her. After a lot of orders and passed armor saves I finally brought it down and moved onto the Spitfire and one of the Puppetbots. On his turn he engineers the ML back but the Fusilier ML nabbed the Zondbot on the move. After some order-intensive shuffling of the link his ML confronts mine but without the five member bonus I win. At this point, and much to my surprise, he puts his hand out and says "I concede. Congratulations". I thank him but our Warcor does concession differently. All the models remain on the table (they only idle) and I have one turn to achieve the objectives. It comes close but I manage them all. 10-0.

Important note: the extra four inches of deployment is huge, especially going first. I started the Swiss in HD on or just behind the deployment line every game. Less orders to move up and less orders to fall back to safety.
