Thanks, guys! It was indeed a fun game, and I didn't beat myself up about the mistakes at all. In fact, I was quite happy with my performance for running fireteams for the first time in my life. :D
I don't know how it took me this long to realise that the Unit Focus article about the ITS 13 Bike Recon Motorized Bounty Hunter is time sensitive, since the unit will propably leave Ramah Taskforce after the current ITS Season ends, but better late than never - here we go!
I've finally added some "Veteran's Word" sections to the ends of the Tuareg, Shakush, Hortlak Janissary, Carmen&Bâtard and Mukhtar Articles, feel free to check them out!
Awesome tidbits with the Veteran's Word. I've been using Mukhtars in a Haris with a Wildcard (Yara, Leyla or Rahman depending on the need), and indeed their glass jaw is their biggest weakness. With that said, my MSV Shock MMR has stood her ground several times, and my Mukhtar Hacker still remains my MVP in almost all my games (last game she stopped the advance of a HI Haris from the safety of full cover. My opponent didn't want to risk getting Carbonited). Concerning Carmen Johns and Batard, I have also began to rely on Batard's sensor to uncover camo markers and HD troops near objectives. Amd last game (the same game my Mukhtar Hacker intimidated the Haris) Carmen went toe-to-toe with Shinobu Kitsune. My poor opponent wanted Shinobu to decimate my order mokeys, but Carmen's NBW + MA2 made her a poor first choice.
What's interesting, Maghariba Guard initially was not a cavalry company, but most likely houshold troops.
This week I waded into some deeper waters; here are some of my thoughts on the decision making process so critical to our gameplay efforts!
Very happy you did this article. Sometimes you have to challenge convention to find new things. I loved @QueensGambit analysis that would explore the options and demonstrated that you can brute force somethings with a Shakush or the Azra'il can absolutely delete certain units. Another is the fact that while grenade launchers are not great in N4, they still have the ability to address certain problems. I also think convention also can come down to play style and what is acceptable risk. I am always surprised how few try to over infiltrate a model or use combat jump versus parachutist. The model is paying the points for that option, it seems like you should at least give it a review.
Not to be too much of a bother, but do you have an estimate on when part 2 of the PandaBeastMode article will be available? I love reading battle and tournament reports.
Thank you for your comment, I'm happy to hear that the article was well received by atleast some! :) Hear, hear! While using the Grenade Launcher as a "plan A" is usually not a good idea, there surely are situations where it can end up becoming the most viable choice to solve a problem! Exactly the same thing goes for over-Infiltrating! No bother friend, no bother! :) I just messaged PandaBeastMode about the article, and he told me he aims to complete it in the following two weeks, after which I will begin the editing process - so we're propably talking about a month in total before everything is done! If you're hungry for battle reports, I'm currently polishing up the an RTF vs USARF After Action Report that'll be the next piece that's going to get published - I'm hoping I'll be ready in the week about to start or at the very latest the week after that! Thank for your continued interest and have a great day mate! :)
For RTF the world has changed a lot with these fireteam changes. Zhayedan can be put into a pure core link with Ghulam, Fasids can be in a Haris with Jannisaries, Khawarij are 6-2 like we asked for, Mission control finally let Tarik have that pet Rafiq, cats are chasing dogs, it's wild. I'm excited to see everyone's perspectives on this. I'm super hyped seeing the plethora of new Fireteam options.
If they have the Ghulam keyword they get all the mods. If you are on the PC version it shows it like Ghulam Naffatûn(Ghulam) Zhayedan (Ghulam) Khawarij Etc. So from that list a core of 5 models can have Ghulam, Naffatûn, and Zhayedan and keep the normal fireteam bonuses and pure composition bonuses. A Wildcard like Leila Sharif has (ghulam) as well for composition bonuses. If you replace one of those ghulam, like with a Khawarij or Yara Haddad, you would only have 4 ghulam to count for the bonus. Sadly the phone app is bugged and doesn't show the (tag) for fireteam bonuses.
Android App has the update available already. 4 "Ghulams" and Yara will not get any Pure Fireteam bonus, it becomes a mixed Fireteam and only get Mixed Fireteam bonuses (+1B, 6th Sense, BS +1)
It's an extremely exciting time to be a core-linked Zhayedan HMG or ML chilling with all your expendable Ghulam buddies.
Poor @Grotnib will have to update the blog to show all these great riches. The changes to Khawarij, Tarik, and Namurr will have huge impacts! Great day for RTF and Haqqislam in general!
Thanks for the correction, I wasn't sure if partial ghulam fireteams got partial benefits, but in second look they totally don't. If one doesn't fit, then no one gets the fancy benefits. One bad apple spoils the bunch, as they say.
Haha, indeed I have my work cut out for me! Then again, I'm not going to lament if my "tough job" is to shovel all the money a truck piled on my driveway into my garage - because that's what I feel these updates are a kin to! :D These changes will hopefully help invigorate the RTF community; I feel that the Sectorial was in a great place to begin with, though getting to a point in which one could win consistently against the best Opponents did take quite alot of work (for me atleast)! It would seem that from here on out the rest of the Meta has to learn to live under that watchful eye of the Fireteam Cored Zhayedan heavy weapons... I wonder if this is how playing Varuna felt like back in the N3? I'm also very happy to see the quality of life changes on the Khawarijs, the Hakims and Tarik, and while don't neccessary think a redesigning of the Namurrs was totally called for, I'll fight anyone who tries to take my shiny new super-supersoldiers away from me! I'm planning to release a short article about my initial thoughts on the changes shortly. In the mean time, give them hell RTF Commanders, give them hell!
Here we go! I don't know if I have anything deep to add to the subject on such a short notice, but are some of My First Thoughts on the N4 Fireteam Update and RTF!
A quick update everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been able to put out more content lately despite my promises to do so - real life has been kicking my behind with a vengeance, and the blog hasn't been progressing as a result! I should have some more time to dedicate to it from here on out though! The RTF vs USARF After Action Report is almost ready - I just need to edit and add maps illustrating to positions of the various models during their activations and then the piece should FINALLY be good to go! @PandaBeastMode has also been busy at work writing his IGL championship run battle reports, so that article should be the one I'll be getting to work on next! I'm also starting to update the articles affected by the Fireteam Unit/Update, and I'm going to use this as a chance to tinker with the arcticles to reflect the things I've learned since writing them! Thank you everyone who've shown continued interest in the blog, your engagement means a lot to me! Take care everyone, happy gaming!
Here we go - it's time for the 2nd After Action Report: Operation Dead Man's Hand! I've also updated the Ghulam, Khawarij, Tuareg, Nahab, Naffatûn and Murafeq Remotes articles to reflect the N4 Fireteam Update as well as my experiences gained since first writing these pieces! Please let me know if there are any mistakes (whether those be concerning the rules or grammar) - updating the Articles at such a fervent pace will no doubt subject them to even more mistakes than is usual! :D
