So I found myself in need of a sniper vindicare assassin for my off-brand Space Wolves (I really dislike GW's Space Marine aesthetic) to go along with the super-thicc Scibor Monstrous miniatures that I was using and I bought two miniatures (let's put it like this; my Space Marine army is extra-super heroic scale (and cost)); Ninja Sniper and Guilang Sniper simply because they were the closest I could find that matched my vision of what a Vindicare could be if they dropped the faux-gothic aesthetic. Some time later a couple of friends said they'd picked up this new game they were playing (this was at the very tail end of N2) and when I looked into it I found that I already owned a few miniatures and incidentally they were part of the same army, so why not buy some 10-ish miniatures and try it out because that's all you need, right? Anyway, that's how I got into Infinity and Yu Jing. Because the Guilang Sniper was my Vindicare Assassin. Rabble rabble rabble rabble!
Hmm ive got quite a lot of faves. I think i have at least one fave per sectoral and vanilla in the game, but overall id say haqq supersoldiers. Khawarij hooked me in many ways. Although the lasiq sniper and djan sniper sold me on Haqq when i first started. However all these new haqq supersoldiers are just so great, i love them.
The mukhtar, for sure. The fluff on them is they're picked from ghulam squads that pulled off victories after taking massive losses. They have just the right combination of skills that the doctor often does exactly that. I couldn't count how many times he's pulled off a game-winning run after losing his teammates.
The HRMC Yan Huo and Hac Tao were what made me go Yu Jing. I already loved power armor, and a Broadside-style artillery piece and super hi-tech Crysis-esque suit drew my attention instantly. Helps that they've both got awesome sculpts, and pretty much every Hac Tao profile has single-handedly carried games for me.
I’m gonna say the tactical bow ninja from red veil is my favorite profile and sculpt from N3. Tac bow and KHD were both introduced in N3 , and it is a staple objective scoring piece in 3 factions . Not to mention a beautiful sculpt that encapsulates infinity’s anime cyberpunk aesthetic .
Hmm... Single model that I like most in N3. That has to be Riot Grrl with Spitfire. She is the one that sold me to Bakunin back in the day. I love the original Riot Grrl box with the odd helmets. Current one is just too "angsty" and not "peppy" - it IS Bakunin after all. However. Originally what brought me into Infinity is the Orc Trooper and old Squalo. Appleseed is so strong in those. I don't play PanO though. Friend of mine is so heavy into PanO so I had to pick something else. It was "Vedict" so Marut and Asura Mk1 were the models that sold me to ALEPH however Posthuman Mk3 is my favourite model of Aleph from the "old" line. Posthumans were my favourite unit concept in N2 and they were horrible back then, now they are good - too good in some people's minds - but the muck from which they rose I'd say they earned to be in the spotlight for a change. I'll expand the initial question a bit and tell my favorite minis (be it rules and/or model) and limit myself to factions I've got: - Bakunin: Riot Grrl with Spitfire / Reverend Custodier Combi/Pitcher - OSSS: Asura Mk1 / Posthuman Mk3 (Posthuman Mk3 has same feel as Riot Grrls have - maybe I'm biased) - JSA: Shikami - IA: Daoying Operative - Hacker Lt2 (so lovely model and so nice profile) I tried to limit myself. I really tried!
Calibans. I had a soft spot for them pre-update (a bunch of camo tokens that forward deploy, hatch at the start of turn 2 and turn into a MI core fireteam with feurbach and spitfire? what fun!), but then they got updated and became amazing do-anything toolbox units capable of all sorts of dirty tricks.
Although it took me a while to warm up to them. The Blackjack (HMG) has become a favorite of mine. The new Tankhunter design is one of my all time favorite infinity models. He has such an awesone look and he's usually just sitting around as a marker. And even they the only one that really even does jump out of marker state is the Autocannon one (really wish they'd resculpt that one.)
Tiger Soldier MSR I have no hopes of ir making its way into N4, but I'll always remember the feeling of dropping in my opponents deployment zone and shooting all the way across the map.
It's one of my favourite profiles as well. Code One already got rid of it and there's also no official sculpt for it, so I guess it's not going to make the transition.
The more I play Shasvastii the more my MVPs turn out to be Calibans. D-charges, monster close combat, specialist and protheion compared with decent bs and mimetism make them so versatile they often become a potential solution to various problems. Love the sculpts and the profiles. Just wish I could afford more of them :D
Back in the OLD days before even playing the game, I got my eyes on Infinity by the old mono-wheel Kum Bikers. Loved the idea of those bikes! We finally got some models and I "convinced" my brother and best friend to get YuJing starter boxes, the old ones, and some minis. Loved the old ninjas, due to the dynamic poses, and to talk about my favorite mini and profile... YuJing: ShanJi. So happy the new sculpt preserves the concept of the original mini. Expensive, but he rarely dissapointed when I included it in the list. Nomads: Tomcats. I need to get back using them more. Funnily enough, what has given me games was that flamer showing up through an unexpected angle up the table and torching a troublesome unit the Intruder cannot engage directly.
Mavericks have always done really well for me, either the SMG/LRL or the Rifle/FO as skirmisher hunters (with the FO grabbing objectives left and right) or the Molotok as an everything hunter. Their speed means that you're opponent rarely benefits from cover, their MSV cuts through mimetism and camo, and normal Impetuous can be cancelled if it'd be suicidal, plus they have smoke! The only one I consider a bit bobbins is the BSG as she needs to get into DTW range to be effective which is often a death sentence (though ARM 3 helps to a degree) but I had a spare Warlord Games British weapons sprue so mine now holds a tommy gun and has a PIAT strapped to her bike. Then there's the Irmandinhos, who are the best grubby, suspicious, conniving Galicians you could ask for. They drop smoke, they take objectives, they murder Noctifers, they get free orders, and they're only 8 points!
The Govad HMG mini actually brought me back into Infinity after not playing for a few years. She is still my favorite at the moment. Just wish the profile were better for vanilla.
True. I'd love to see better pricing in N4 to rebalance some shittier profiles as useful budget options. Currently the Govad is in a weird spot of being slightly cheaper than Djanbazan but critically unable to shoot through smoke. While more mobile than Djan, she is not as efffective as a muhktar or Khawarij in that role either. She is better than a Ghulam HMG, and maybe a HMG bot in some cases, but the price isnt cheap enough. I'd like to see her at 25 points, then you might wanna use that great mini as a back up HMG with decent stats and religious to hold the line on that final turn. I'll also comment that yes, she is design for sectorial fireteam use. But I don't think the govads are so good there either. Ghulam link is very cost effective, and Muyibs are extremely useful. Pretty lengthy reply to basically say "Me too" Haqqislam ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 7 MUKHTAR (Multispectral Visor L2) Red Fury, 2 Nanopulsers / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 37) KHAWARIJ (Fatality L1, Multispectral Visor L2) Mk12 / Pistol, AP CCW. (0.5 | 36) DJANBAZAN HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 35) KHAWARIJ (Fatality L2) Spitfire / Pistol, AP CCW. (1.5 | 32) GOVAD HMG / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 29) SHIHAB REMOTE HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 25) GHULAM HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 20) 8 SWC | 214 Points Open in Infinity Army
I also love the model and the idea of the Govad HMG. But its not the point cost, but the SWC that throws me off. It feels like she should be only 1 SWC. I would love that to be changed in N4.
