Like Prysm from Aristeia. That'd be cool. Would also provide a counterplay to Jammers that isn't just hacking.
In my opinion, it would be enought to give Jammers the Comms Equipment trait so that it can be targeted by programms like blackout, would make AHDs more useful... And for my personal wishlisting: give Oniwaban and Ninja a knife,... can't be that the "should be" silent CC Assasins don't have a (melee) weapon with the silent trait,... but on the other hand, it could be a bit to much, who knows?
Bostria is in the BoW/OTT Weekender. Mostly Defiance related (they've been recording for the launch week) but a little tidbit or two about N4. First: Still D20 based, no Aristeia!/Defiance dice Second: N4 will first launch as Infinity: Code One, this is a simplified version of the game (think Operation: Thingthing levels of complexity) launched as a full fledged system with organised play support and a dedicated mode in Army Builder, this will be supplemented with "Full" N4 much in the way Icestorm was released as a lead in to N3. Not all units will be available in C1 but all factions will be playable at launch, and new packaging for models will indicate if they are C1 compliant. The idea is to have a more accessible, and fully supported, level of Infinity that can be played as a full tournament game, to complement the advanced game. It is very much aimed at people that don't have the time to learn a large complex game like N3 but still using that identifiable core of Orders, AROs, and F2F rolls.
I made a Code: One thread so not to gum up this thread too much https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/infinity-code-one.35397/
From the 3 troops with jammer, only 1 is irregular, and also, isolating forbids from using orders from the pool, so an isolated irregular would use only his order. Also, the enemies isolated by jammer are still able to deffend themselves, an imm2 is not.
Can N4 do away with the quantum ARO for hacking a Holo1 model due to not knowing where its ZoC is until after measuring? Would be nice if this interaction was straightened out.
ZoC chould be open information and all times, that would faster a lot of things, but also would make safer move "outside" of those areas
Additional Hacking Changes I would like: More minor passive buffs due to having a hacking device in your army (kinda like EVO) More buff/debuff options. The ability to stun targets. Provide penalties or bonuses. White/defensive HDs can defend units that get hacked. Fewer programs but more universal. Remotes and Tags should be able to be taken over. Light Infantry can be temp isolated or stunned. Hacking should have a passive benefit that improves the army. It should give you more options, but should not be so order intensive.
A reason to take hackers beyond fielding REMs or "in case of a classified needing one" against Ariadna or the like would be lovely :)
If Spotlight was actually useful, it would add a lot of utility to hacking. As is, it pretty much sucks. I'd like it if Spotlight was be able to discover camo tokens. Also, maybe give one of the hacking devices a program that emulates Sensor. Also, if you allowed Spotlight as an ARO but made it into supportware, that would be interesting--you can put somebody in the targeted state, but you'll have to take MML2 off your remote, or lose Fairy Dust, etc. I'd even make it Burst 2, so there's an actual choice to be made on using it in active turn vs just waiting for your opponent to stumble into it for free.
All of the rules pertaining to a specific equipment absolutely MUST: Be written on the same page in the rules. Never leave it to examples to provide additional rules, examples are exclusively for clarifying existing rules. Any reminder boxes must actually remind you about a rule that exists, the reminder box mustn't ever be a rule itself. When you're reading rules you should never need to track down the rule twice, you should never need to read examples, you should never need to read descriptions, and you should never need to go outside the designated area of a rule unless the rule itself specifically tells you to. The classic example is a bomb defusing manual "Cut the red wire, but first cut the blue wire" which results in the death of most people reading the manual because they cut the red wire before reading about the blue wire. Infinity isn't that. Infinity has the information about the blue wire buried in the instructions for a different bomb with a different trigger mechanism but containing the same manufacturer's clock and the information about the red wire is written in an anecdote further down the page.
Yup. I feel like there was a disconnect where CB thought that people wanted more examples in the rules when what they really wanted was the rules to read more clearly. The rules should read fine without the examples. The examples should clarify things, not create new rules.
Changes wanted in N4 So this is a tally of things I’ve seen people want but put in general terms. I’m not going to suggest how things change, just that it needs changing. No nested skills ie: Martial Arts: Stealth, Courage, Surprise Attack Better descriptions of the order of actions Rules should not be in examples. Close combat should be re-worked. Clean up Fireteams Condesnse Weapon charts. Cost re-balance List of what is and is not open/closed information Re-work some skills like Fatality Level 2. Re-work the cost and/or the way irregular/impetuous troops work in a fireteam. Adjustment to Hacking programs Re-work the way crits work Clean up interactions between some skills Simplify the number of things that need to be looked up for a single rule. Now for some of my thoughts. I agree with many of the changes needed. I’d like something to come back. A chart of what you can and can’t do in a order. See image from N2 below. This something nice to show new people. For Crits that have been mentioned several times, I want Crits but i want them nerfed. Make it an Auto hit but not an Auto Wound. But the ARM save is as if ARM 0 and no cover. So there’s a least a slim chance of not taking a wound. Medic should not be at -3 to PH. PH is already lower than many WIP. I understand it not being as good as a doctor but It doesn’t need more fo a penalty.
