Ah yep, gotcha thank you for this ! Great excuse to get a new one when they finally get around to making new :)
What you guys think of Sombras ? For me it's hard to put one in my list for the high cost, combined with PH 11 in a word full of shotgun they doesn't appeal to me.
I love them. Why would PH 11 be an issue? We are talking about an „almost 2 wounds“ camo „almost infiltrator“ with either a red fury or other good guns while being a specialist. Also, climbing plus on a model in the midfield is situational, but good. It of course depends where the rest of the list is going, but I can even imagine fielding two of them.
they are a must have in every list, well the hacker is anyway. good and relevant specialist and the ability to engage a target in multiple ways. spec op and KHD arent too bad if you can't afford the normal hacker. in having essentially 2 wounds it can trade a hit when tagging stuff with it's DTW. Redfury is worthless when compared to the other profiles, it's pillow fisted, all it can do is shoot outside of 8, doesn't have a dtw, and can't engage with scenario elements, at that price point you want it to be more than an okay gunfighter with a shit weapon that you are paying actual SWC for as for what ever reason it costs 1.5. what ever it can shoot the others can while still being able to take on other targets as well as doing so at closer range which is useful for a climbing plus camo piece that will be spending most of it's time in the 0 - 16 band.
My main problem with PH 11 is that Sombra is a mid field piece and it's easy at that point to be the target of template weapon or having to dodge a mine defending an objective. The PH 11 for dodge is not the best. Another thing , Sombras cost an average of 40 points, for that cost I want my model to be more than the last turn scoring boy, for this I can play a FO Bandit, but the weapon loadout doesn't seems stellar for me.
Well, a Bandit has PH13 so a 10% better chance to succeed at the doge, but ARM 1 instead of 3 so also 10% lower chance to not die if doge fails which cancels out. And that’s it to mention that the sombra is still operational after getting a wound with shock while the Bandit is removed from play. Of course it depends on overall list composition, but I‘d probably pick a Sombra first and a Bandit second (e.g. assuming that I already have a lot of CC ability thanks to McMurder). I think the key characteristic you are discounting is the reliability to have a sombra perform objectives while killing the enemy midfield units in his active turn. But no reason to force it if it doesn’t fit your playstyle ;)
Being PH 11 almost never bothers me, but the point cost starting from minimum 39 is what bothers me. Overall stats, SI+NWI, Climbing+, FD 8'', Camo, Hacker options, access to AP ammos, all those are awesome, but the cost...
Guys last game I had a doubt. How many command token I have to use to move Jazz and Billie from one combat group to another ? Once the game has started can I move only one of them or I have to move both ? My doubt come from infinity Army when they need to be in the same combat group.
They are seperate Troopers. it cost one each to move them (One for Jazz, a different one for Billie). You don't have to move them at once, you just have to start with them in the same group (there is no rule saying otherwise).
How are you boys finding fighting USAriadna right now? (With CJC) I'm slightly worried about their impending massive bikes lists and unhackable high AV units reaping havoc. We don't seem to have too many BTS hitting weapons or viral to make them worried. I'm thinking an ITS I have in two weeks I'm bringing Senor Massacre, or maybe Carlota. Thoughts?
You don't really need to worry, USARF isn't particularly that good right now and will degrade very quickly when taking casualties, which they will also take very quickly as they dont have any real durability. Hacking still has a useful application in spotlight to counter mimetism, or you could just ignore it outright by making them deal with template Spam. Viral isn't that big of a concern the dog doesn't get cover so just weight of fire will put them down.
also go first, hit hard and ignore the camo. If you cripple them hard enough (pretty easy to do at 300), you can just lock them out of the game and do anything mission related at your leisure. Their camo line has nothing that can really threaten an armoured and high W/STR unit, and their ARO game is generally weak and can be brute forced by most things.
Using the stempler is horrifically inefficient for the return you will get when playing into USARF. all they have under the camo is a Foxtrot (basically a Zero but without the ability to hack) and a hardcase (light shotgun wielding redneck), they dont have any mine layers, and the FT's are too valuable as scenario pieces to be thrown at something. You can quite safely just ignore their camo and wait for them to stick their head out and nail them.
OK, cheers Tourniquet, thanks for the advice. So maybe an alpha strike with a Vostok and two mates, assisted fire etc. Or a Gecko. If I'm forced to go second, Setup quite deep plenty of Jaguars, flash bot. On the Morans, take a Boarding shotty or Combi? Also a Hellcat for the quaterback sneak?
Depending what local terrain setups are like I'd recommend Carlota as ariadna has virtually zero BTS so the breaker rifle will shred.
If you go agains Camo Ariadna Carlotta isn't so good. You arrive in the backline just to found everything under a camo token.
